Unlike any other mechanic I've used before, Smitty's gives straightforward quotes and pricing. The front desk passes appropriate context to the mechanics and the mechanics follow-up with reasonable recommendations. It is the platonic ideal of car repair. Smitty's has taken us on short notice, long notice, quick fixes, longer multi-part a/c investigations, brake replacements and re-replacements, and we'll keep coming back. Wi-fi in the waiting area and easy after-hours dropoff. Signage in the front could be better--it's easy to drive past past it the first time.

Smitty's Garage for the win!…read more My Corvette place was jammed up with work, they couldn't squeeze me in before my trip to Carlisle. A few car guys on social media said to try Smitty's garage. I went to garage and spoke with Will. I told him this Corvette is my baby, treat it with love. I was traveling and he said leave it with us, I have a good Chevy mechanic. I came back, the valve cover gaskets were installed and I was road worthy. Mind you, his shop is busy with summer auto problems, I'm thankful he was able to get me zoomin'. The big question is, why do they get 5 stars? When they changed the valve cover gaskets, they took the time to clean off the residue oil that splattered out. It's that attention to detail that gets noticed. I need a steering part, he said he'd order it but haven't heard back. I'm typing this review from the Port Jeff ferry, we're all busy! I'll hit him up when I return, I would use this garage again because they did a great job on my Chevy

Our Chrysler Pacifica van was in an accident and the customer service, communications, and quality of work was fantastic! They helped us every step of the way from arranging to pick up the van from the place it was towed after the accident, to handling the adjuster visits and keeping us up to date during the repair process. Everyone was so helpful and polite and the van was returned to us looking brand new and sparkling! Thank you Steve and the entire staff at Shuberts! I was a loyal senior customer of A & R Auto in Smithtown for years and referred friends and family…read morebecause I trusted them. I had made an appointment for an oil change using a VALID coupon that was advertised on their website and Facebook. When I arrived, I was told they would not honor the valid advertised price because their website hadn't been updated, and they wanted to charge me an additional $20. I was trying to explain in a calm manner why this VIOLATES federal laws like the Federal Trade Commission Act. I was truly shocked that a small business like this was so unaware of basic business practices. When I questioned why I should have to pay more because of an error on their website, the conversation turned into a heated argument. I explained that customers shouldn't be penalized for a business's failure to update its advertised pricing. I asked to speak to the owner and instead a male employee came out to yell at me when I attempted to explain how this could be misconstrued as a Bait & Switch tactic. They eventually agreed to honor the coupon, but then told me to "never come back." After years of being a loyal customer and referring friends and family, I found the entire experience horrific and unprofessional. Businesses make mistakes, but how they handle those mistakes--and how they treat loyal customers--matters. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend A & R Auto, BUYER BEWARE
