He expects excellence at the gym and out of the gym - for example, one child had a bad behavior report from school and he was given a writing assignment by Coach Jones to hand in during next class (300 lines! A great learning lesson). He provides these kids life skills on how to be a responsible adult in life. For example, the boys had homework to go home and learn to tie a necktie. Another time, they had to all write a paragraph about why they love their parents and had to read it in front of the class because Coach Jones said public speaking is a very important skill for a leader.
