For the past two years, we've had nasty flash floods that have left us collectively about $30,000…read morein debt, even with flood insurance. The house is built on a hill, and when a heavy rain hits us after a dry spell, bad things happen. When the last payout finally came in, we'd planned to earmark a big chunk for fixing the drainage once and for all. Enter Keep Austin Landscaped. Even though our house is small and they usually don't do such small jobs, they came up with a great plan to reroute the water from uphill and guide it around our house to prevent flooding. Initially they suggested an inexpensive galvanized wire and rock wall to keep the water from flowing into our house, but later decided that a better, solid concrete retaining wall would do the job better - - for just the same price. And then, of course, COVID happened. Nevertheless, the KAL team was still ready to work with us as long as we gave the workers their distance, which of course was only fair. I really appreciated them coming out and risking getting sick to do that work, especially when we were really scared that any time now we might flood again. Our uphill neighbors initially agreed to allow us to install a French drain on their property to allow water to drain into the alley behind our houses instead of into our house, but then reneged for reasons we still don't understand. We offered to adjust planning to take any specific concerns into account or seek mediation, but they insisted that we not do anything on their side of the hill. Of course it's difficult to route water away from a house down hill if you can't do anything before the water gets there! The nice folks at KAL tried several times to speak to my neighbors in both English and Spanish on our behalf, and in the end our neighbors allowed them to complete the plan by extending gravel drainage along the shared fence. We've just had the first heavy rain after a dry spell since they've been out here, and not a hint of flooding. Working with them has been an absolute joy, and we heartily recommend them for anyone with a landscaping or drainage issue.

A complete remodel with 2 retaining walls, new irrigation, sod, zero-scaping, a flagstone patio, hot tub, rebuilt deck, pergola, kitchenette, bar top, and electrical. Andy did an excellent job managing the project, paying attention to detail, and staying as close to schedule as possible. He gave us sufficient time after the job was complete to test the final product, make fixes, etc., before taking full payment. He went above and beyond to make sure to stay within budget and give us a beautiful final product. Before going with Andy we got quotes from 2 other landscapers. Rockview Landscaping's quote was in the middle. We didn't go with the cheapest option because Andy felt more trustworthy and willing to stay close to our vision. Additionally, the cheapest quote came from a larger national landscaping firm. It felt impersonal. We wanted to help a local business instead. The pictures speak for themselves. We included some before pictures as well so you can see how awful our backyard used to be, and how complete the remodel is. The slope in our backyard was very steep, making the lawn space completely unusable. The deck was rotting and painted over with an ugly green color. We cannot believe how much flat lawn space we have now, and the patio, hot tub, deck layout is beautiful and functional.

This included sprinklers, new sod, flower beds, shrubs, a fire pit, some xeriscaping, and he even covered lawn/plant care in detail. In general, Reed was very helpful with the overall design, followed that up with great attention to detail, and helped address some of the quirks of my property (low water pressure from the city main line, as one example). He made himself very available throughout the entire process and was a pleasure to do business with. Additional detail - To begin with, he promptly replied to my request for a quote and was out at my property by the following weekend for a walk through. While at my property, we talked about how best to design the yard, nailing down the broad brushstrokes. Within the next few days he provided a full landscape design and an itemized cost breakdown (this was not always easy to get from other landscapers). We further refined the design based on my budget and then secured the start date with a deposit. Just prior to the work starting (within a few days), we confirmed the start date and time, and things moved very efficiently from there. His team, including Mike and Andrew, were great at keeping me informed throughout the process. To wrap up - I highly recommend Reed and Austin Native Landscaping. Very easy to work with and supremely capable landscapers.

I was originally impressed by their online portfolio and was not disappointed! From the beginning, I felt like I got their full attention in the planning, budgeting, and especially the construction process. I was fully aware the entire time of the schedule, costs, and any upgrades I requested was fully documented. Everyone I worked with (Ben, Manny, Aaron, Taymn, and Andrea) was super friendly and always available if I had any questions. They would responded back to me in a timely manner so I was never left in the dark. I never felt pressured to do any unnecessary upgrades or additions. They always recommended what they thought was best and left it for me to decide. They worked well with my builder to finish everything on time and respected the neighbors around me (my neighbor even asked for their info after seeing the great job they did my property). My designer also remarked that they look like they actually enjoy doing their work and that is a great trait to have in a contractor! One thing I really enjoyed about KWL was the amount of details (large and small) they put into everything. I trusted their judgment throughout the process and was always pleasantly surprised when they showed me new and innovative decisions they made! After the project's completion, Ben and Manny came out several times to check on the property to make sure everything was thriving and to educate me on how to operate the systems they put in place. I will definitely return to them for phase 2 of my landscaping and highly recommend them for anyone looking to improve their house or start a new project!

There have been drainage issues in both the front and back yards, and Michael and Bernie were very thoughtful about their proposed solutions. All of the hardscape is done, and the trees are planted. The crew of workers is also great. They make sure the dogs have time to go in the back yard, and they make sure the gates are closed. Cesar is the owner! ) Fair pricing, quality is amazing, and work ethic is so strong! I saw a few reviews and have to say this... you have to maintain whatever landscaping anyone puts in - whether it be your irrigation, plants, and weeds that follow!!! Weed barrier overall doesn't prevent Texan weeds from growing, and generally I don't recommend or get weed barrier. Use a natural ground cover that snuffs the bad stuff out. You'll also have to replace some plants - they can be finicky based on the elements and soil (or rocks) which can vary in a single yard. If you are new to the area, know this - color is season al but most often everything is green. It requires so much self care if you want color all year around which basically means planting annuals yourself.
