This nail salon is in a convenient location. I've had my eyebrows waxed for a great price with good results. Pedi was alright. When it came time to do my nails they pressured me multiple times to get gel, which I declined. The biggest complaint I have is that to buffer my nails the tech used the buzzer thing as if I was getting a full set. It has now been over a month since this mani and my nails are paper thin and breaking constantly. Thank god I paid with a gift card. Won't be back. read more

I've been going to 90s nails for 12 years. They are all great. I have gone to all of the nail techs for one thing or another whether it's full set, fill, eyebrow waxing, pedicure and they're all skilled techs. One thing you need to keep in mind is these are human beings and they make mistakes. You get your routine services done ROUTINELY. If you notice your nail is slanted say something before they lay the acrylic/ gel. If you notice it after say something. If the way your nails are being painted isn't up to your standards say something. They will always accommodate you. I've had nails break, or notice something is off after my service and I call in tell them my problem & they always tell me to come in and they fix it. And some of them are new to the job, they're practicing and you are their practice. Be kind always, everyone is dealing with their own struggles. Happy new year everyone ! read more

I'll give this place a 2 because it can be okay sometimes if you have the right person but tonight blew my mind. I came in at 7:15 thinking the mall still closed at 9. My mistake. First thing I say is "hi are you closing soon? If so I can leave?" They assure me it's fine no problem and one girl starts my gel fill. She's very nice. Then Ehrin takes over. I guess she thought she could do it quicker. She goes "what do you want" and I show her the picture I asked if she could do. She says "no that's ugly" and refuses to do it. So I move to picture 2. She says "I can do this design but you came late so I'll just do a little" she puts the accent of the design only and then says "how'd you get in?" I had told her a woman had the door open I didn't realize you were closing so I didn't think anything of if. She then says "call next time and I'll tell you not to come". Now I start getting pissed. 3 other people were in the salon, one of which was clearly on drugs and could not be woken up. I'm ready to leave and it must have been written all over my face how angry I was. She starts being nice and says "do you like them?" I said "yes, thank you" she responds " thanks for coming late" Needless to say, I left royally pissed off. If you didn't want to stay and do my nails, tell me you're closed. Don't say no problem don't worry about it and then be rude to me the entire time about it. I religiously come here every 3 weeks paying between $40-70 dollars for a gel fill. These price changes in itself are a problem but tonight she literally did the absolute bare minimum and charged me $50. You pissed off a loyal customer and you better bet your ass I will be calling tomorrow to talk more about Ehrin. Oh and might be a good idea to update your hours... especially if you're gonna barade your customers for coming in while its listed you're technically still open. read more

If you want to be treated like an animal I would recommend going! So my nails are in good shape nothing crazy...They use a craftsman tool to "buff" cuticles, is that even legal? No way to clean a power tool! Did this really happen! It was so bad! Totally unsanitary! Also, watched a girl put the used tools back into an autoclave bag as if they were cleaned! Ready for the next sucker...No alcohol wipe...nothing! Only one worker actually talks to her clients! I didn't catch her name! I have been going to 90's nails for over two years. I have found all employees very helpful. All my appointments have been right on time, no problems. The nail technicians try their best to do the nail designs that customers present to them from their phones. There are so many designs out there. I have had my eyebrows done by Ellen, and both times they were fabulous. Perhaps the customer she worked on had an allergic reaction. My nails can last a full month if I have the French Gel. Went here about a year ago to get my eyebrows done and got an infection which later I found out after going to many doctors and almost losing my vision that I got herpes simplex virus from getting my eyebrows done here. This place is great, usually. It depends on the person you get--its a 50% chance. The only main complaint I have is the way the do pricing, I don't mind paying for good quality but what bothers me is how they charge you for the shape you want and the length. I have been to this place so many times but the last 3 times have just been so awful! Yes apparently I like to be abused !! I had a tech that gave me good service so naturally the next time I made an appointment with her. I called bc I would be late spoke with "Julie" of course she says no problem come on in. When I get there she has double booked !! The other customer says no worries I will be back. So Julie is now attending to me and doing a rush job! When she's painting my nails I'm telling her I can feel an ingrown nail & she reassures me no it's from me biting my cuticles as if I don't know the difference! The next day my cuticles are dry and skin is sticking up so I'm upset call Julie to make her aware I wasn't happy she makes an appointment for me to come in and when I get there she again asks what the problem is I tell her and she responds by saying oh I double boooked can someone else do ur nails ? Sure but don't expect me to pay another 30.00. She then turns to the receptionist and he says no we don't take out hang nails during a Manicure!!! What! Are u serious! That is the whole point of a Manicure! But bc I don't like to make a scene I turn and leave. That is definitely the last time I will go there! I have to find a new place that pays better attention to my manicures! All I wanted was a mani I could do without the gel! I did read a review of "Ellen" the nail tech and let me say that she used to be my favorite Tech until one day just like a light switch she became rude & arrogant definitely less attentive to my mani-pedi's. And would do rush jobs. Every last one of them try to sell you something you didn't want or ask for no matter how many times you say NO! It really does get annoying! And lastly I have a friend that had her eyebrows tattooed here and let me tell you what an AWFUL job they did. I was charged $75 for a manicure/pedicure (manicure with gel nail polish/regular pedicure). They don't even use lotion in your hands. I could have done a better job with the cuticles myself. The pedicure was nice but the cheapo nail polish started chipping a couple of days later. The place was kind of dirty and disorganized. They have a really good location at the mall. This place is awful especially its customer service. I signed in and waited 30 minutes to get a fill. The manager walked up to tell me they are closed. Mind you he signed me in. " So I run across the mall I get to nail design studio and the owner tells me that the manager from 90's nail never called and they are closed. I found another location to get my nails done. The manager at 90's nail is just so rude. On a previous incident I heard a nail tech (and I am using the term loosely) talking down to two teens getting service. The problem with 90's nails are the men that do the eyebrows. Don't get me wrong i do feel that men can do the job but not in that place. The last two times I went to get my eyebrows done I asked them just to clean my eyebrows and both times they either didn't clean it on the top or they barely took hair off and damaged the skin near my eyebrows with the tweezers. I would highly recommend if you do get your eyebrows done ask for a women to do them unless you want your eyebrows looking worse then what you went in like. read more

I HATE writing bad reviews. No, seriously, I hate it. Nothing makes me happier than to boast to people about an amazing experience I've had at a business but unfortunately, this was not the case. The place I normally go was closed. It was yesterday, a Sunday. I knew the mall would be open and to be honest I have been here before with no issues so in I go.... Let me say, I had a stressful week. 2 weeks actually. Just moved into a new apartment and all I really wanted was to stare off into space for the 30 mins and RELAX. The woman who was to be my nail tech was nice when she first took me over to the pedicure chair. I sat down and she asked me my name and introduced herself as "Ellen". Great. Fine. Nice to meet you Ellen. I stare off into space. She sees my fingernails are a mess and asks if I'd like a manicure as well. I'm like hey, what the hell, why not. Again, back to space. She starts trying to upsell the manicure with something gel-like that lasts 2 weeks plus. I'm one of those people that doesn't like long nails so even after a week or so I want to cut em. I politely decline once. She keeps it up. I decline again. She lets me back to my relaxation....so I thought. Back at it with the upselling...do I want a spa pedicure? NO. Honest, I just want to relax. Now I understand that there is a slight language barrier here but c'mon she knows what NO means. Now here's what really pisses me off...please please please stop talking smack in your language. I know I can't understand what you are saying but when you and your coworker are pretty much pointing and nodding towards my tattoos while laughing and talking among each other it is pretty obvious. I'm not an idiot. IT IS SO INCREDIBLY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I worked in day spas for 8 years. You want to talk about someone, you do it after they leave and that's just keeping it real. Moving forward...she rushed the rest of EVERYTHING. She globbed nail polish on so fast and thick that you can tell it was never going to dry correctly. My toes she wanted to let dry and put top coat on after the manicure. She made my nails so square and rough I could've, 100%, did a better job myself. Again, super heavy on the polish, so much so that when she was trying to put the top coat on it was all over the brush. So sloppy. Then I get up to go since I was so aggravated and NOT relaxed. I realized she was going to let me leave with no top coat on my toes. She feigned surprise and said she forgot but what I really wanted to say was WHAT WAS THE RUSH? The place was not packed...there were plenty of chairs and techs available. SO WHY DID YOU RUSH? To hurry back to your iphone? I mean really, this blew my mind. love this place! leigh is awesome, i love when she is around to do my nails - even if it is just a fill. i go there to get my eyebrows and i'm always in and out in less than fifteen minutes. it's super easy, quick and painless. they always prep you, pluck you, snip for length, wax you and then clean you up after. anywhere else i've gone i've really regretted it. they do my arch so perfectly and know how to compliment my face. read more

Had a really bad experience here. Went to get a full set of tips. The woman who did my nails was on her cellphone talking as soon as she came over to me, so already bad customer service. I showed her a picture of the type of nail I wanted as well as stating to make them "thin and natural looking" she agreed to making them thin and natural. I had said I wanted acrylic tips, she told me to get gel because they will last for four weeks. I said okay, never had gel tips before so didn't know what the process would be. She built up gel on my nails and then never filed it down, never asked me if I liked them, moved me so fast I didn't even know how they would look at the end. When she told me to go wash my hands, she had collected all my belongings before I could even go back to the station. I said can you please cut my hangnails, she said next time ask for a manicure. a manicure? After I just spent 50 dollars for a set of nails, you can't cut two hangnails off? I walked out with tips that were 2 sizes too large for my nails, boxy and wide clumpy polish and absolutely nothing like the picture I provided. On top of it, the place is dirty. I would never go back. went to a local salon to have them fixed the same day, I was mortified. This salon said she didn't even file down the gel, and put the gel on my cuticles, They said she did them completely wrong and they were bumpy. Was not impressed! I grew up in the Waterbury area and have been here before many years ago. I also have seen their work as always half decent so when I came back to visit my family and heard my normal nail lady in Southington was in Vietnam, I decided to give this place a try. I went in with a photo of what I wanted and the guy at the counter said no problem and gave me a price estimate that was totally reasonable. The lady who did my nails was doing it very rushed and not gentile at all. I showed her the photo of what I wanted and she kept trying to convince me to do other things. I never get rude but I straight out had to say "no, this is what I want, do it like the photo" well, she was trying to convince me to go simpler because she couldn't do what the photo depicted, even though she said she could at the beginning of the session. I've seen lots of people with nails like I wanted and looks that come out of 90's way more complicated than what I was asking for. She didn't fill them all that great, the polish job is sub-par and the "design" ended up being way less than what I expected/ wanted all while getting shitty service. I made an appointment for 12pm I arrived 10 mins early and was informed the girl messed up and someone else would take me. And I waited additional 15 mins, I showed the girl what I wanted on my nails and she said oh no, ok if you don't know how to do it I respect it, I then asked if I could have a just a polish change on my toes , she said someone else could do it for me which was ok, then a few minutes later she asked if I could come back later because they were getting busy. So I left the salon with my nails not the shape I requested nail polish on my fingers and no polish on my toes. I initially made an appointment so I would not be rushed and that was not the case. They do not clean their instruments properly. Got a manicure there last week and ended up at an immediate care center with a horrible infection in my thumb. Doctor had to cut it open and I am now on antibiotics for 7 days. John is GREAT! I've come here in the past and have had work done that was OK but not better than any other place nearby. One of my friends told me that John does great work and man was she right! Price is great and never changes. I've had other girls there do my nails when I'm desperate and he isn't in on my day off, but my gel fill just doesn't come out as good as when John does it! My fill is smooth and uniform and my nails end up looking natural, even when I break a nail and need a tip put on. Hands down the best nail tech there! I had just had two really bad experiences with nail places and came here hoping they would fix me up. They were super busy, which is not necessarily a problem. I asked for gel nails. She buffed my nails so much that they feel like rubber and I literally can not do anything with them, also the gel was... sticky? I'm not sure what the right word for it is but it was basically sticky and rubbery and she ruined my nails.
