The instructors are what really make this place special. They are patient, encouraging, and know how to challenge the kids while making them feel proud of their progress. We have loved watching our son grow in confidence, discipline, focus, and perseverance. They teach so much more than martial arts. The kids learn respect, resilience, and the value of working toward a goal, all in a positive and supportive environment. Our only wish is that they were open seven days a week because our son would probably be there every day if he could! We are so happy we found Team Karate Centers and highly recommend it!

I cannot recommend Level Up Woodland Hills enough! When my son started at a new school last year,…read morehe was going through a lot of changes and, like many kids, he struggled with how to express everything he was feeling. His behavior began to change, and we were constantly receiving complaints from school about him acting out. We had tried other jiu-jitsu studios before, but enrolling him at Level Up was truly one of the best decisions we could have made. From the beginning, Coach Alex has been incredible. He has taught my son so much more than jiu-jitsu, he has taught him discipline, respect, confidence, accountability, and important life skills that he carries with him outside of the studio. My favorite thing about Level Up is the strong sense of community. The instructors genuinely care about the kids and make every class about becoming a better person, not just a better athlete. I especially love that they introduce a new life lesson each month and give the kids opportunities to earn patches through activities like book club, bully-safety workshops, and other character-building programs. The family events are another huge bonus. It really feels like you're becoming part of a family rather than simply signing your child up for an activity. The difference in my son has been amazing. He is now more disciplined, respectful, confident, and well-behaved, and I truly believe the lessons he has learned through jiu-jitsu at Level Up have played a huge role in that transformation. Thank you to Coach Alex and the entire Level Up Woodland Hills team for investing in my son and helping him become the best version of himself. We are so grateful!

Lastly, it is a strong community where all levels and backgrounds are welcome to come together and dare I say it, level up. I highly recommend this school and its instructors. Formally under the…read morename Rifkin Professional Karate Center and the tutelage of Master Rifkin (who moved to restart another studio), the dojo now trains under the new name Anderson Professional Karate Center led by Sensei Anderson. The curriculum is the same and belt testing is overseen by Master Rifkin and Sensei Anderson. Having moved from the former location, the new studio is brand new and overlooks the beautiful hillside with its second story view. Sensei Anderson hasn't skipped a beat in taking over the dojo. There's an intensity and passion in Mr. Anderson that drives us to do better for ourselves. Mr. Anderson has a keen eye for detail and corrections. If there's a strike/block that's just not working out, he knows exactly how to correct it and breaking it down for you to follow. Sounds simple, but it's a skill not many instructors have. There's a focus on details in class. An important philosophy is, power from technique. With the proper technique, a 120lbs woman can easily drop a 200lbs man with a single blow. Our curriculum, developed by Master Rifkin, is based on the strikes and blocks from traditional Karate, TKD, and kickboxing; our self-defense from Aikido and Jiu Jitsu. Throw in a few push-ups and sit-ups and you have well rounded martial artists with the tools capable of defense. This is not a "fight" school. Yes, we spar. We dont fight. We are disciplined martial artists with skills to fight. Some of our techniques, derived from centuries of knowledge passed down. It's a big distinction in the mentally of our students. We come in ready to learn, not ready to fight. Come by, check out the studio at the new location, talk to Sensei Anderson and see if this studios right for you.

I currently have my son Giovanni enrolled and we don't plan on going anywhere-EVER lol. I've done martial arts for a couple years so I have a pretty good idea what to look for.. these days "some" Martial Arts places treat your kid like a car payment: 8,12 and 15 month contracts plus more extra's like large cancellation fee's. I went 7 different martial locations through SFV and they all have the same carefree script plus exact crazy monthly pricing. After reading reviews I finally found Master Sam and his team at FKMA and automatically feel in love with how everything was ran. First day walking in I had an hour conversation with Giovanni in his office not even talking about martial arts .. more about Giovanni's past, present and where he would like to go in the future!!! His approach is amazing he wants your child to flourish inside and outside his classes with grades, family and friends just life in general. Shit! After the first day I walked out learning something as a parent ..he really is a awesome man.... now to his kick ass staff! Nadia Master Sam's daughter I met only a handful of times but she's a total sweetheart. AMANDA, ANDREA & NICK are perfect additions to the classes ALL BLACK BELTS they're not there to watch your kid throw lazy kicks and punches. Bottom line been here for a while coming 3 sometimes 4 times a week (when we can) and wouldn't change a thing. Master Sam even switched up the times later for parents to make it easier to bring your child after school and work - 4:30pm and 5:30pm sessions!
