The minute you walk in the store, the smell of lumber is intoxicating. Tim Allen and Al from Home Improvement would pitch a tent and live there, lol. As a woman, I do my best to make my own repairs. This place is not really designed to cater to the weekend warrior wood crafter enthusiast, and more so for the commercial-grade builder. A lot of the wood was sold in really long lengths that you might need a flat-bed to pick it up. Whatever, that's fine, but they didn't have any plain jane cedar, and I need to build an outdoor table to match a set of Adirondack chairs I have. I know that one can get cedar from a variety of more accessible sources (maybe even the big box stores), but I imagined that this place might be a one stop shop for everything I need. There is Purple Heart recipient parking in the front that even rivals the rockstar-esque handicap parking given by most establishments. This indicates to me both a sincere sense of gratitude to wounded servicemen that have served our country and a snub to those lame wheelchair bound jerks that steal everyone's good parking spot (This last bit is clearly just a joke: please don't go getting your colostomy bag line in a knot). Ordered 70 2x4x8' and a solid oak hung door for a bathroom build project. Lumber quality was fair, at best - at least compared to the extra 2x4x8's I got from Home Depot a little later. As for the door - quality was fine, it was just the wrong size. I ordered a 32" door, they ordered a 28". When I picked it up, I didn't notice it right away and when I did later & called, I was politely told sorry, nothing could be done since it was already pre-hung. "The size is right on the receipt," I was reminded. "It is? Cause I'm looking at it and I don't see it." "24 by 4," they tell me. On the receipt, it's written - 2/4x6/8 OAK SOLIDCOR. 2/4X6/8 - clear as day, right? Who can't easily deduce 28" wide out of that? "Maybe that makes sense to someone ordering doors all day, but I'm not a contractor - I'm just a guy doing a home project. How about using the actual number - 28? That way I could've easily seen it was wrong, since I ordered a 32." Bottom line, they were polite for the order and unfortunately not at all interested in fixing an issue after the fact, short of making a single phone call. This isn't one of the usual suppliers we use but whenever I end up having to come here the guys are always super helpful and ready to answer questions. Today the gentleman working the front desk even helped me load some of the wood I was picking up. Overall this is definitely the best option in the area for anything wood related. read more
