This is a fun process, a bit mind-boggling. So much to pick from, various looks, something for every taste. We are contracting with a cabinet refacing business that works exclusively with Buffalo Granite and Marble. I willingly paid for the measuring consult, but when I cancel the slab order, I was hit with a $980 restocking fee. This was never mentioned when I initially inquired about the refund, in the event I changed my mind, once again, for any reason. This is not a trustworthy company, they are the only ones in the area that charge a restocking fee. All of the other slab companies have told me that they just keep the slab, and are confident they will resell it. Apparently Italian marble likes to double dip as I'm sure they turned around and resold the slab and immediately made a $980 profit on it. Stay far away from them. The Granite Shop in Wheatfield is a great place to get slabs. Check them out instead of this ripoff place.

However, this company showed its true colors when it first demanded a 50% deposit before anything was even measured (on everything including the extras). We are dealing with countertops here people, and even the Representative of the company sent out (Stone Services?) that does the actual measurement said that at least 10% of the jobs have to be declined because of the countertops not being leveled enough. Now, answer me this: why would anyone in the position of President, who should understand the above, begin buying the "extras" before the job is even measured and cleared to proceed? No one with good business sense would do that. That sounds like a highly inexperienced President to me. Though Emily was nice and at first claimed she was going to try and send our faucet back, she then made the excuse that she couldn't. So we ended up only getting a 50% refund from the money deposited for the new faucet setup. Now imagine if she had gone out and bought the sink before the job was even measured? Bottom line here people is that this President, though seemingly nice and cordial, is highly inexperienced resulting in the following. Everyone knows that certain business losses are already priced in to yearly budgets going forward, etc. Because she failed to waive the loss on the faucet (about $120), which we all know is already calculated into prices as business losses, this company (once I level my cabinets) will never get the $8,000.00 job it would have gotten. Is that an intelligent business decision? I would be curious to get the opinion of her Boss and Supervisor; perhaps the CEO of the Company. Their loss; not mine. And because I could see where this could have gone even more horribly wrong (like her trying to not refund half the cost of the sink if she had gone out prematurely and obtained it), I would never recommend this business to anyone. I have no animosity towards this person; but believe there is much for her to learn; and would avoid the business at all costs.

We knew that we wanted a darker, beveled, 20 mil layer vinyl floor but we couldn't find the one that we loved. It took us a few weeks to finally decide on a floor that we loved. Only to find out that it was being discontinued. After searching everywhere to see if someone had enough product for us to get the job done and having no luck were heartbroken and ready to settle. A week went by and Mike (one of the owners) started to text me possible floor options. We loved this. It showed that he was looking just as much as we were. We stopped in a couple of times to view them and still no luck. However, Mike and Jennifer never made us feel like we had to make a decision right away! Never, they responded to our texts promptly and helped us brainstorm. It got to a point that Jennifer knew whether or not we would even like a sample and advised us when to come in and see the floor or not. I don't want to write a book here but I wanted everyone to know that we love our new floors. With so many options in companies, I believe that an organization needs to do something extra to make me choose them. For restaurants that usually means your food has to be amazing and so does the service. To me, it is so important and Nickle City Hardwoods was amazing. In this case, everyone has the same products so the service has to be on point. There's was, from the product selection to the customer service to the communication to the installation (crew and all) and finally the overall experience. Don't hesitate to choose Nickel City Hardwood. Skip the big box, chain stores, and head to Nickel City Hardwood. You will be beyond happy that you did!

After reading their reviews, and checking out their work on Instagram, I decided to request a quote. The price was so reasonable that I didn't actually quote with anyone else. We got scheduled, and Brendan was very patient & polite answering all of my emails, texts & phone calls with questions about preparation, after care, timeline, etc. (And I had A LOT of questions!) When the day came for him to arrive, he showed up right on time. He was very friendly & knowledgable. Right away he explained what type of floor we had, the grain, even how they cut the tree to make it. We could tell right away that he knows his craft and that we were in good hands. He was right on time with everything else too - like when he said he would have the color samples laid down so we could come back to pick one, and when we could come check out the finished product. We went from light to dark - something Brendan was excited about doing. And oh my gosh... our floors are GORGEOUS. I can't stop walking around the house looking at them. He did a phenomenal job! We couldn't be happier. I will definitely recommend Brendan & Queen City Restoration to anyone looking to refinish their hardwood floors. February 18th Charlie started on my 856 square foot flooring project consisting of an alcove under the stairs, living room, dining room, kitchen, guest bedroom and hallway with 2 small closets. Removal of the old flooring and installation of the new, to include trim and quarter round on the kitchen island. I was to order all the necessary supplies. Everything went well with removal and most of the installation. Due to the house not being level, we had a small issue with the doorway to the guestroom. On March 3rd I told him, and we decided a transition strip would be a good solution. He finally came back on March 31st to fix that and install the stair nosing. When he went to install the stair nosing, we realized I ordered the wrong item. I told him I would message him when the right one came in. On May 12th I realized I had forgotten to message him so I messaged him to see when he could come finish that and he said he could probably come out around the 30th to the 1st. On June 1st at 7:44pm I asked if he was able to nail down a time to come out here. He said no later than Monday. Sunday June 8th, he asked me for pictures of the area because it had been a while since he had seen it and wanted to make sure he had all the right materials. I sent the pictures of the 2 spots that needed the stair nose and an additional text stating that there was a spot in the doorway that lifted and a picture of the area. That was the last time I heard from him. I texted Monday, Tuesday and today, all showing delivered but unread. My husband called him and it went straight to voicemail, then texted him and told me the imessages went from blue to green, showing he blocked him. He then called him using a VoIP number and Charlie answered on the first ring. When he said "hey, this is James" Charlie immediately hung up on him. We sent him a final text from a different google number saying "it's cool if you don't want to fix the problems and we won't contact him again, but it would've been nice to get an answer instead of being blocked" which was also ignored. The work that was done looks great but for the amount of money we paid him, we expected the job to be finished.Overall the work that was completed looks great and we are very happy with it. Unfortunately, not being completed as per the agreement cancels out the positive in this situation. I would normally give a glowing review for the work completed but as it is unfinished and we now have to hire someone else to complete the work we have already paid for I would not recommend him for future projects for anyone.
