We felt like family from the moment we arrived and met Savannah. The location is close/walkable to town but very quiet. Breakfast every morning was fresh, everything was clean, and Tim was always a text away for any questions or suggestions. There was an "island issue" hiccup where we didn't have water for half a day, but a case of water (and a bottle of wine) delivered to our room made us forget about any inconvenience. HIGHLY recommend!

The view from the pool/breakfast area was amazing also. The location is just outside of town, there was a relaxing feel about the whole place. Being on the deck for sunset, glass of wine and music from the bay were perfect. We did walk up from the Bay Area and it was a hike, be ready. Going down was much easier of course. There is a trial you can hike to Honeymoon Beach. This beach was probably our top for just chilling out and enjoying the ocean. There were lounge chairs here, a bar to buy drinks, large area for shade, (if you need that) ;). We ended up renting a Jeep so we could go explore all the different beaches/areas of the island. Maho beach, great snorkeling, you will see a turtle. Even if not snorkeling you will see a turtle. Fun area here for food/drink, and lots of different rentals. The resort provides beach chairs for you to use, a cooler and you can rent the snorkel gear. I encourage you to take advantage of all that. They also provide ice. We didn't discover that until we had been there for a couple of days. Everyone working on the resort was so friendly, including the owner. When we go back to Saint John we will be staying here again! Thank you!

However once inside you will see a dazzling display of cool things. The owners come from Senegal and most of the stuff is imported from that country but items from other African countries are scattered about. I even saw what I assumed to be Rastafarian thingies Lots of colorful bags, clothing, art, music and gifts items. Bright and bold colors must be popular in Senegal because the items I saw all looked so cheerful and full of expression. Lot of different, artistic and unique items, this is certainly not your average touristy type of place. The lady working there was wonderful and loved to talk about her country and her inventory. She will patiently tell her where the particular item was made and what it means. A pleasant little store that is definitely for the person that wants something a bit different. Once you find this store you will probably find it difficult to leave.

It faces the Ensenada Honda Bay and the Muelle Municipal (in case you have a boat). The view of the bay from the balcony is amazing. The hotel has a restaurant but it is currently closed (since the pandemic started). When it was open the food was really good. Great selection of beers. The rooms don't have kitchens but you are in town, which means you are close to everything. Zaco's Tacos is across the street. Pancafé Bakery (Pandeli) is perfect for breakfast and is 1 min away. Dinghy Dock, Caracoles, and Mamacita's are very close for lunch, dinner, and drinks. Heather's Pizza and The Spot (dive bar) are a little further away, but still walking distance. You also have Colmado Milka close to stock up on food and drinks for the beach. And you have La Galeria de Regalos nearby for shopping, as well as a few other businesses. In other words, the location is fantastic. The only negative is that being in town means you are far from the beaches. You will need to rent a jeep/golf cart or call a taxi to reach beaches like Flamenco, Tamarindo, and Carlos Rosario. The hotel has private parking. Also, note that there is no front desk. It is self check-in and you are basically on your own. I recommend this hotel if you are staying in town.

The museum starts either a quick video explaining what you're about to see. Then the doors open and you walk into a well done exhibit hall. There is a second floor accessible by a slow elevator or stairs which tells a little bit about some of the pirates in the area. There are a few photo spots, hands on exhibits and a hurricane simulator with wind speeds up to 75 mph. I felt the $20 admission fee was reasonable compared to the $30 for the skylift. The museum is located next to the skylift and about a 15 minute walk from the cruise ships.

The woman/cashier was totally rude and not friendly, but even her bad attitude could not detract from the daiquiri and the spectacular views of Megan beach and islands. If you are in the area this place is totally worth the drive. You can do all your shopping in one place. We were greeted by Denise, the very personable and cheerful owner of the hotel, who showed us to our room. She even carried our bags! LOL The room was nice, compact, and had everything we needed for a few days. The A/C worked great, a BIG deal in the summer! A small, but well rounded continental breakfast is served downstairs every morning. Good coffee and a selection of healthy small bites to get the day going! The hotel has very nice common areas, and fun to sit and visit with other guests, many of whom were repeat customers. It was always nice at the end of a long day to return to our super comfy room. We also met several of the staff, all equally as welcoming and warm. Denise and her staff were all so helpful with suggestions for restaurants, places, activities, any thing you needed. It's always nice to get a "local's" advice in such situations! Our only regret was never getting to meet Denise's husband (Dave I think). He was always around, fixing things, running errands, etc., we just never bumped into him. We hope to do so on our next stay! We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel! It's the only placed we'd stay on STJ!

Beautiful resort with friendly staff, well-kept grounds, and two wonderful on-site restaurants to…read moreboot! We got in fairly early on a Saturday, got our rental car, and drove to the resort which wasn't too far from the airport (St. Thomas is small). Check-in was at 4, the guy at the gate was very clear in his directions on how to find the main office. We found it and were able to check in successfully. Then they sent someone to show us where the condo is and help us get our luggage inside. He was also filled with suggestions on places nearby and recommended a couple of activities within a 1-mile radius. We thanked him, tipped him and explored the resort. The place was clean although it could have used a general update in some parts of the condo. The huge sliding glass doors boosted a beautiful view of the ocean and the neighboring island St. Johns as well as other land formations surrounding St. Thomas. They were kind enough to leave a birthday card and a full-sized bottle of rum to welcome us. We didn't drink the rum but it was a nice gesture. The condo we stayed at were up the highest hill which could make for a challenging climb after meal times if you're dining at their on-site restaurants. You could always drive offsite to Red Hook, a town with restaurants and some night life that is conveniently located only about 5 minutes away. I loved the veranda view of the condo we stayed at. You can feel the cool breeze while you relax, take in the scenery and have something cool to sip on. A vacationers dream! There is a small kitchen, a nice living room with comfy furniture, and a queen bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit is restricted to the living room which means the bedroom is the hottest room in the condo making it hard to sleep at night sometimes. They did provide fans but it's not quite the same. If you sat on the dining room table, you're freezing to death from the air conditioning but the bedroom you would be sweating. There wasn't a nice balance of airflow. But we made do. The resort has 3 pools. One is located up the hill, maybe 3 condos and down a flight of stairs away from where we stayed. Another was by the nature trail/near Ocean 180 and the third is right above the Sun and Sea Bar. There's no gym but trust me, just go up and down the hills a couple of times a day and you'd get your fill of cardio. Of course, if that is not your jam, they do offer a ride if you call the office but only during office hours. There are taxis they can help you get as well. We did not use either of these services so I can't speak to it as we had a rental car. There are free parking for those staying at the resort and they do issue you a parking pass. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. If we ever find ourselves back here again, I would not hesitate to book this resort.
