More generally, I appreciated how there was a nice range of brands across all the product categories including some brands you simply will not find elsewhere locally. If top-notch specialty run product selection is what you're after, this is the place for you. But wait, there's more... The service here is phenomenal. For those unfamiliar, FFS has a few tools at their disposal to help find the "right" shoe for you. This includes 3D foot scanning and gait analysis via video recording and slow motion playback. I was assisted by Jill who was very knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and efficient. I was super impressed with how a "history" was taken first (i.e. running background, injury and shoe history, current shoe wear pattern, etc.). Of course, the anthropometric data from the 3D scanning was interesting but I really feel as if I've developed an intuition for how it should be used to inform the shoe selection process from this experience as well. I also really liked being able to take part in the gait analysis. This is something I tried to do by myself in the past but nothing is quite as awkward or seemingly narcissistic as trying to take a slow motion video recording of your own legs at the gym. Yikes. To be clear, it's not simply the technologies themselves but rather the thoughtful integration of these technologies and data into the shoe selection process by highly adept staff and the sharing of this expertise that makes this place exceptional and pretty much inimitable. This is the single greatest point of differentiation between FFS and competitors; it's the reason I now refuse shop elsewhere for trainers. Highly recommended.

Went to see if they had a particular pedorthic for a foot problem, based on their website…read more The usual pharmacies and even some medical supply stores didn't carry it. While I was looking around there was a customer running on a treadmill trying out running shoes, before making a purchase. The staff seems more knowledgeable about shoes, orthotics, foot anatomy, and how to fit shoes, than most shoe stores do nowadays. I should have asked if anyone had taken the test for to be a certified pedorthist? No matter now. Although, I didn't find what I was looking for; what impressed me the most is there was no "hard" sell tactics or being brushed off because i wasn't buying shoes that day. I will keep them in mind if someone I know is looking for proper chasseur (shoes). = )

I saw the other negative review and it is for another branch. The prices are expensive, but the pants I wanted and got were the same price they were 5 years ago. All clothing store prices, online and brick and mortar are way too high. I don't think it is fair to blame this one store. At least those pants held up for many years, instead of turning into shreds the second time you wash them. Thank you Michael!

Kevin is a phenomenal outdoorsman whose experience, extensive knowledge, and professionalism were…read moreevident throughout the winter hiking / snoeshoeing experience I did with a small group he led in the Catskills last weekend. I signed up for a day-long excursion to Slide Mountain. For a reasonable fee: I was picked up & dropped off at a convenient location and provided with all the outdoor gear I needed for the trip, i.e. snowshoes, walking poles, microspikes and crampons. The group was small - 4 of us total - which made for a more chummy experience. I love the outdoors and grew up camping in the summertime- but wanted to whet my appetite for snow sports and outdoor winter activities. This is perfect for a fit, active person who likes the outdoors and wants to try different things out before committing to purchasing equipment. Having the proper gear prior to these excursions is crucial and owning it can become expensive. This is a happy medium where you can try things out before making the commitment. If you get a good group dynamic, you can end up with built-in hiking buds, which is a huge bonus :) I cannot recommend Gear To Go Outfitters enough for renting outdoor gear and especially for their guided trips. I think this will be the first of the many and have definitely opened up an entire world of outdoor winter activities for me!

Told me he had found out where I work and told me he will proceed to go to all of my company's Yelp pages and threatened to make up false ratings. 2. Called me names on the phone and refused to let me talk. 3. And actually, accused me of stealing stakes (that were never actually given to me) and ended up charging me MORE than the original rental. (which I will try to dispute) 4. Threatened to sue me for writing the yelp review... Told me that he is a lawyer and will sue me for everything. I've never had a business owner act so unprofessionally and in such an undignified manner. I would have gladly updated this review with a positive if he had approached this in a fair, polite manner. Instead, he insulted, threatened and even charged me more money because he had the ability to. He used the excuse of "damaged items" (btw, one of our tents came with a hole patched with scotch tape), and claimed we stole stakes from the tents. When I told him that we never received stakes, he flippantly told me "Well you signed the delivery papers, it's not my problem! Why don't you look around harder, check your car!" ... we had never received stakes. He then proceeded to charge me $163 for the "stolen" stakes. I am glad I had the thought to record the entire phone conversation. I only wish Yelp had an option to post the recording... There are many other places to rent your tents from, save yourself the time, money, and after-trip stress. They are thieves...
