Teachers are very experienced and very helpful, provided good guidance to students, and I kept seeing good results from other students too.

Our tutor has been tutoring my niece, a sophomore at Homestead High School, for the past year and a half now. We have developed a great relationship with her, and as much as I hesitate recommending her for selfish reasons (we want her all for ourselves!), she has been so great to us that I feel this is the least I could do (I'm not giving out her name though!). As most of us know, many times students run into "academic emergencies", whether it be a quiz or exam they have the next day, project overload, or any other major school-related crisis. We've had our fair share of those, and each time our tutor has been there to save the day. I mean, literally save the day. We've had her come to our house at 9:00pm the night before an exam, with a calm, understanding smile on her face, and leave an hour later with plenty of tips and words of encouragement for my niece. My niece responds very well to her encouraging style of instruction, and always goes to her exams feeling confident after tutoring sessions. I've also noticed my niece's study habits improved dramatically since we started working with our tutor. She is a lot more organized and knows how to approach difficult concepts - something she has always struggled with. Last point - I've worked with tutoring companies where we've paid 80 - 90$ an hour for a tutor (which I find ridiculous), and this company definitely does a much better job for half the price.

My daughter needed algebra 2 tutoring and we found Dana's company on yelp. Dana sent us biographies…read moreof tutors and we immediately found one that we felt would be a good fit for my daughter. She came to our house and not only answered my daughter's questions, but gave her excellent study tips to help her pass her exam. We started working with the tutor every week, and my daughter's grades improved in every class! I decided to use the tutor for my son as well, who was in chemistry honors. Overall I felt the tutors Dana provided (our tutor left for college the next year so we got another one) were excellent, the price was very, very reasonable, and the whole process was extremely convenient. We developed a great relationship with both Dana and the tutors, and I really think it made a huge impact on my kids. Their grades really improved.

Now, just a year later, we're working on so many pieces of insanely beautiful and difficult repertoire that I never imagined I could even touch. His approach to working through these pieces (both technically & musically) has truly helped me so much. Eric is an exceptional player and the best teacher I've ever had. He's a big part of the reason I'm pursuing a career in music, and I admire him as an artist and a person.

For a beginning 5-year-old: Frustrating interactions around…read morebilling, communication, and overall professionalism, with mixed feelings about teaching quality. Communication and Professionalism I felt that some of Eric's communications with parents did not meet our expectations for professionalism. Early on, he was communicative and polite, but more than six months into lessons he would send texts like: "Come [a different time never discussed] today, my flight is delayed," sent only a few hours before the lesson. Typically, these messages informed us of changes rather than asking whether the change worked for our schedule, leaving us to respond that it didn't. When we drove to the lesson last week, we were told Eric could not teach because he had a fever. He said: "I texted you this morning. You didn't get it? Oh, it's confusing for me because I have so many students with similar names." It appeared the text had been sent to a different student's family. There was no acknowledgment or apology for the inconvenience. Last month, he asked us to provide an itemized payment history for accounting purposes. After I sent screenshots of our payment records and asked him to review his own records, he replied asking me to still generate the list: "I have about 70 students to go through. It will be easier for me than to go through every single history." Over time, these interactions felt dismissive and one-sided, which was unexpected in a paid professional relationship. Billing and Policy Before the holidays, we notified Eric that we would be away for three weeks. His policy posted online at the time stated that with two weeks' notice, missed lessons would not be charged. Although we notified him three weeks prior to the trip, he said we had misinterpreted the policy and initially declined to offer a credit or make-up sessions. When I checked his website, that policy language was no longer visible and later reappeared with revised wording, which created confusion. After extensive texting and a phone call over an hour, he ultimately agreed to provide make-up lessons. Instruction Instructionally, the experience was mixed. Our child learned to read music quickly and played pieces that seemed advanced for his age, but other teachers later noted gaps in fundamentals. Early on, Eric provided practice guidance by text, but this stopped after a few weeks unless a parent was present and asked. We had also agreed on 30 minutes of piano and 15 minutes of voice, but at some point the voice portion was no longer included, and this change was not discussed with us. After about a year, our child began crying whenever we asked him to practice piano. This cannot be fully attributed to Eric, but it was part of our experience. In my opinion, Eric seems to place a strong emphasis on preparing students for piano competitions. Other Details * With advance notice, Eric almost always accommodated make-up sessions for a single missed lesson (except in the billing issue discussed above) * There were no recital or performance opportunities offered after more than 15 months of instruction * Lessons are held "every day," meaning families are expected to attend even on major holidays such as Christmas or New Year's Overall Overall, while there were aspects of the instruction that worked well, the repeated challenges with communication, scheduling, and billing made this arrangement difficult for our family over time. For a young beginner who requires consistent coordination with parents, this was not the right fit. Other families may have a different experience, especially with older or competition-focused students.

Insight has a lot of experience on this front, and also a lot of "insight" into what colleges look for. In short, Purvi has been able to guide us through the nuances of the application process. Additionally, she gave us some great advice around summer programs - we would have never found the ones that she suggested. We also had a great tutor for ACT from Insight, who was able to give my daughter some great tips. She ultimately got into her top-choice school. We are very happy with Insight, and have recommended them to many friends!

Hi Ajit, Any chance I can get my $200 back for an initial consultation that was absolute nonsense?…read moreI have kindly asked for my money back multiple times. I want you to known that telling my kid who is STEM focused taking 10+ APs to consider taking a ceramics course doesn't cut it for a $200 initial consultation. JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. Just letting you know that your responses on your reviews of people who complain about your service is underwhelming. Improve your service and you will do much better. Ajit, I will continue to complain about the service I received to every Indian parent that I know in the Bay Area. If you think otherwise, you don't know me well... Based on your "Stanford MBA" education, you may certainly know that word travels fast in the Bay Area. A simple suggestion to all who read this (including you Ajit) - Do NOT pay $200 for an initial consultation. Simply request a free initial consultation so that you are aware of the all of the program details, the costs, and the proficiency level of the counselor. If they can't give you a free consultation, move on and find another program. Believe me, there are plenty of programs that give you all the information that you need without paying fees to find out. They should be selling you on the program and not the other way around. 8/18/25 - Ajit, I read your response. Your answer is false. My wife, my son, and I all attended the meeting with your "counselor." It was you who was missing in that meeting. So don't make up stuff. The fact remains that I have not received my $200 back....
