I normally don't write reviews, but I feel a responsibility to speak up. One of the teachers--and part owner--of Shareworld, Sunni Lin clearly has mental issues: an incident happen where he physically lifted my 9 year old son by his broken arm, push a desk at him and screamed on top of his lungs at my son for not following directions. One of the parent text me afterwards saying the class was hysterical and there were kids crying. This is completely unacceptable and deeply disturbing behavior from someone entrusted with the care of children. Sunni clearly has anger issues and cannot regulate his temper. Multiple students have witnessed him yelling, banging on desks, and even throwing phones at the wall during class. His behavior is not only unprofessional , it it's frightening. He is unfit to be in any teaching or leadership role around children. I filed a police report to document the incident. The detective strongly urged me to press charges, warning that this individual is a danger to other children. As a parent, I knew he was right--but despite that, I made the difficult decision not to pursue charges out of consideration for his three young children, who attend the same school as mine (John Muir Elementary). It was not an easy choice, but I wanted to give him a chance to take responsibility without destroying his family. Since then, my children and all students others have withdrawn from the program. My 6 and 8 year old went here for the summer program and they loved it. They covered many academic subjects and also got exposure to Chinese and Spanish languages. They loved working with the different teachers that would come for different lessons and crafts. They were very sad to have summer come to an end and return to regular school. read more

Like another reviewer (Katrina L.), I felt it was important to share my experience so other parents can be fully informed before choosing this program. Based on what I experienced and later learned, I do not recommend ShareWorld's afterschool program. From what I understand, ShareWorld offers two main programs: one focused on tutoring and exam prep for high school students, and another--run by Sunni Lin--focused on afterschool and summer camp activities for K-5th graders. My review is about the latter. My children (then in elementary school) were enrolled in the afterschool program. While the initial schedule promised enrichment in math, Chinese, and English, the reality was quite different. Most days were spent simply doing homework. If students finished early, they were given free time; no additional lessons or enrichment activities were provided. Staffing was minimal. It was typically just Sunni, sometimes assisted by a student from De Anza College or a local high school. On multiple occasions, my children came home with unfinished homework. When I asked why, they explained that they had asked for help but were overlooked as staff were busy assisting others. The most concerning issues arose after we left the program. Another parent shared that Sunni had once lifted her son--who had a broken arm--by his cast in front of the class. When I asked my children whether they had witnessed similar behavior, they admitted that incidents like this happened often. Sunni would lose his temper and throw chairs, other objects, and even his iPhone at times. Most heartbreaking of all, my children said they were afraid to tell me earlier because they feared retaliation. No child should have to feel unsafe or scared in an educational setting. My 5 year-old child attended ShareWorld's Summer Camp 2022 program for one week during August and enjoyed his experience there. The teachers are interested in the personal development of each student and truly care about the kids. They are very knowledgeable and have been teaching for many years. The Summer Camp program focused on Math, Chinese, Science, and Art. I feel very safe to send our kids there because the teachers and the director are always following proper protocol and ensuring that the kids are healthy and safe. The teachers and assistants wear masks all the time. At the same time, all the teachers have worked very hard to make sure that the kids are happy and comfortable at the school and understand how to keep good hygiene. read more

My child had a great experience at the summer camp. We enrolled her at the last minute, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we've made. The camp offers a diverse range of class subjects (including chinese) that kept my child engaged and excited every day. My daughter not only had a fantastic time but also felt supported and encouraged to explore new things with great teachers, and small class sizes. She enjoyed the camp so much that she requested we cancel her other planned camp just to continue here for another week! The fact that she now wants to join the afterschool program speaks volumes about how much she enjoyed her time here. Thank you to the entire team for providing such a great experience. read more

Both of my kids came for 2022 summer camp and had a blast learning English, Chinese, Math, and Art! You can tell the teachers put a lot of effort into planning activities and lessons that connect with each other and also engage the kids. One session I happened to observe had the kids taking turns reading aloud books on fun summer activities. Then they followed that with an art lesson where kids draw some of their favorite summer activities and presented it to other students. After that they prepared a fruit salad making station for the kids to enjoy and had kids guess how many seeds were in a slice of watermelon :) Everyday had a special activity that kept the kids engaged, including ice cream making on the last day. The staff were also very careful with COVID protocol and held class outdoors covered by a sun canopy. Great teachers and staff who care about the kids...Highly recommend! read more

My 5 year old daughter is very picky and attended the Summer Camp 2022 Session and she loved it, wanting to go back everyday. She couldn't wait to attend camp early in the morning when she wakes up. She learned Mandarin, did science projects, worked on puzzles, and math. I am planning to send her here for next summer as well. read more

We had a great experience with our Kindergartner child attending summer camp here. The staff is friendly and the teachers are very responsive and caring. The program is very balanced with playtime and learning mixed. My son looks forward to go to camp every morning. I would highly recommend them for anyone. read more

I really like this afterschool for my children (8 and 10 years old). Because they get help with their chinese homework. They read in Chinese and English. They study math with stimulating games that my boys love to play. Staf is friendly and willing to assist you. read more

We have two boys in CLIP program and need additional Mandarin support as the program is not easy. We recently started here and like it. Our boys are getting help from a professional Mandarin instructor Ms. Adrien and a parent/teacher in Math. The class size is small. They use a variety of instructional materials. We have to drag our boys away after class ends because they play learning games. We have never seen that happen before with them. It is not the most beautiful facility however I do not care. I have been coming to ShareWorld for the past 3-4 years and the tutors at this center have helped me so much with a lot of subjects that I was struggling through so much. I highly recommend Lily Vo as a tutor. She tutored me for AP Economics -- a class in which I felt intimidated and easily frustrated in. She is really good at breaking down the material in very manageable and understandable ways and is incredibly patient when it comes to questions. She had a lot of other resources and worksheets for me to work with (helps a LOT when it comes to subjects in which you need lots of practice and guidance). She is very clear and extremely organized and makes a HUGE effort to make sure that the time during the tutoring session is used wisely and efficiently; she prepares very well beforehand (the amount of work she invests in her students is very impressive) and stays on top of the material she teaches. I have learned so much and am very thankful for all that she has done for me and for other students! read more

My son has gone here for about a year now. I give it one star for his teacher. Very bad front desk lady. No concept of customer service or courtesy. They do not communicate with teachers and expect you to know all the 'rules'. Clover in the front desk is the rudest person I have met in the education business. They need to hire some pleasant and soft spoken people if they want to get people to use the center. I highly recommend ShareWorld learning center. My son was struggling in Biology. After worked with his biology teacher Charles a couple of times, he had big improvement and gained the confidence back. Thanks Charles! Then we sent my son to Math and English enrichment lessons; and he likes both the Math teacher Michael and English teacher Daniel. Both of them are very experienced and know how to motivate a teenager. The front desk staff (Terry, Sabrina, and Jane) in the learning center is very friendly and helpful as well. Due to my son's school activities, we have to re-schedule his tutoring time several times. Each time they helped us to find a suitable time slot. This review is for Teacher Fu who tutors both my children in Mandarin. My kids are enrolled in the Mandarin Immersion Program at school, however neither my husband or I speak Mandarin. Teacher Fu was able to help them both excel in Mandarin and compete with kids who speak it at home. My daughter got into the program late, in 1st grade rather than kindergarden. It was tough at first, she did tutoring everyday afterschool with Teacher Fu for a while. Now she is in middle school and getting A's in Mandarin. read more

Don't even get me started on what they told us compared to what actually happened. When we wanted the forms for our refund they wouldn't budge to give it. They kept annoying us like banging on our window, following us home, lying to us, like who even does that to a customer. Extremely rude front desk with no regards for you as a human...will constantly ask for payment and call ruthlessly to make sure you are paying on time; continuously gossip in Mandarin about other high school students and where so and so is going to college. They expect you to know all the rules and will try every attempt to get money out of you. Teachers themselves are great; group lessons make a hard to ask questions though, and oftentimes classes are shorter than the hours given because previous classes run late. Good for SAT IIs, especially in math and science. read more

I sent my son here for the summer enrichment in math and I had to say...Michael, the math tutor teacher, was the best. My son was struggling in algebra II class due to his weak background in algebra I. Michael took his time and reviewed all the important concepts in algebra 1 to help my son progress in algebra II. Thanks Michael. You've done an excellent job. My son is getting an A in algebra 11 as a freshman in H.S. He is looking forward to be your pre-calculus student for this summer 2010. It bothered me when I first signed up last summer, but I guess that is how most Asian system, so-called tragic metaphor..., is running. I did not care much as long as my son is getting a good tutor....When you deal with the Asian community, go with the flow...By the way, Chinese people speak very loud and I do not understand why...as I am an Asian myself. They don't mean any harm...It's the culture thing...If you want something, go to the front desk and ask him or her directly...Don't wait..around and expect a good service....The service is there; you just have to ask for it. I know.. it is odd...but what can you say..... Don't give up. It is a military establishment, but it does not put kids through hell. Children need dissippline to become successful in life. I hope you feel better after reading my review. By the way, Peter Chang is another good math teacher. He recognized my son's weakness in algebra I and recommended Michael to tutor my son. Peter would call me personally at home and in the evening and explained everything in details as to why he needs tutor in algebra I. I really aprreciated his call. We had an agreement that my family would be refunded in full as we were extremely dissatisfied with the after school program. The comment by "Charles T " We are always willing to listen." is completely untrue. The principal walked away from us during our meeting. She walked away without communicating the status of our refund. The principal denied having a verbal agreement with us even though our children were present and witnessed her confirmation that she'd give us a full refund. Bottom line: the principal was dishonest and failed to fulfill the agreement to give us a full refund. The after school program was misleading. Our children did not receive the instruction that we were lead to believe they would receive based on the program promotional material we received and the statements by the administrative staff. I would not recommend the after school program at Shareworld. There are better, high quality, professional learning centers which will treat their customers with integrity and respect. read more
