I mainly chose gas stations based on the prices and location location location. Would I continue to get gas from this mega gas supplier!?: PURCHASE 87 Unleaded Regular Gas ($42.50): I was hoping to make it to "my" Costco Gas location, but the GPS read that I wasn't going to make it, so I went in! I casually did a U-Turn into the station, pulled into the first open pump on the driver's side, and did my thing. After 12.28 gallons of gas at $3.45/gallon (credit card price was $0.10 more per gallon), I was good to go on my way for the rest of a busy day! Andy Capp's Hot Fries Corn & Potato Snacks ($1.59): An impulse buy, its namesake used to be one of the many comic strips I read as a child, so naturally it caught my attention - damn you marketers! Basically, this tasted like my favorite Funyuns road trip snack but not in ring form, colored in a Trumpian orange Oompa-Loopma tint, spicy as a chili pepper, and left your fingers stained even after you tried to lick them clean. Otherwise, there was no need for parking because you simply wanted to pull in, pull out, and be on your way. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A short price signage at the corner of Beverly Blvd. and Norwalk Blvd. only visible along Beverly Blvd. as you approached the intersection. With the aforementioned small-sized "Food Mart" convenience store, this was a spacious covered gas station with designated pump and thoroughfare lanes. There was plenty of natural lighting during the day while I imagined bright electric lights flooded the night. There were no TVs but background music played inside the Food Mart. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL This Chevron gas station at the corner of Beverly and Norwalk Blvds. Served its purpose. They definitely didn't have the cheapest gas in town but were centralized to my in-town business. Generally-speaking, the entore facility was well-kept and clean. As I got more familiar to the area, I was certain to find better alternatives...or planned better to have more than enough gas to get me to a Costco Gas station. However, I abhorred the fact that they had separate prices for cash vs. credit ($0.10 difference) and charged for air/water; these were the main factors in my rating. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $44.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 3.5 STARS

He informed me that I'd have to prepay a certain amount since it was cash....strike #1 No big problem, I asked for $65 on pump #5. Even though the pumps appear to be relatively new, I had to hold it the entire time as the latch wouldn't keep the pump engaged past 5-10 seconds...strike #2 Since I had to stand there and hold the damn nozzle, I had a front row seat to the screen on the pump. It stopped @ $62.80 and I returned the nozzle back to the pump. I turned around for one second to put my gas cap back on, did the math in my head for my change and when I turned back around, the pump now read $65.00!!! Now, I know it's only a couple dollars, BUT, that's MY $2.20 and you can best believe that I marched right on into the snack shop to alert the attendant of what had happened and that there must be an issue with the pump #5. In a very dismissive manner, he cut me off and let me know that what I was describing wasn't even possible citing that, and I'm paraphrasing: "...since the pumps were new, it was impossible for this to even happen" STRIKE #3 I let him know that I wasn't crazy and know what I saw. He kept shaking his head 'No' and then suggested that I contact Weights and Measures which I DEFINITELY will be doing first thing Monday morning!!! Long story short went in to the location in Santa Fe springs Ca. Washington and Sorensen location. Wanted to pump $50 in gas and grabbed an energy drink. Whenever I can, which is often because it's near my house, I try to choose this gas station. They have the coolest dog named Max there and he's a sweetheart. He's enormous, a big fluff ball and has the calmest demeanor. Today, I rolled up, greeted his owner (he may be the gas station owner too) and said "No doggie today?" He let me know he was out for a walk but would be back soon. After I paid for the gas, he came and let me know Max was back so I got to visit with him a few minutes. After a long, early work shift, this was the highlight of my day. Max's owners are also great, they really seem like kind, wonderful people. It may seem odd to choose a gas station because of a dog and his nice family,but why not? It turns something mundane into something to look forward to!
