It was last Sunday that I was driving my 93 year-old Dad down and around the Lincoln Highway. As we entered Ne-VAY-duh (Iowa), I was reminded that my current home is Genoa Ne-VAD-uh. It's actually easy to remember, once you're at either place. The Lincoln Highway sign at the Nevada (Iowa) city limits also tells the story. Anyway, this is a long winded review about filling up with gasoline at a convenient local gas station as father and son explore local downtowns, with a lot of farm land in-between, and usually either a gravel or paved road every mile across endless 640 acre sections. Also in Iowa and mainly due to corn ethanol subsides, premium grade is "cheaper". Our short self-serve trip was "Good & Quick". As other reviewers have noted, there's good mini-mart selections inside, in addition to the broasted chicken option.

There is a McDonalds nearby and a Starbucks across the street. Definitely a nice spot to take a break from over the road driving and purchase some snacks or beverages. Located right off U.S highway 30 in Marshalltown, Iowa. There is a FedEx drop box located at this gas station stop as well.

That's what I ordered, it was ooey-gooey as a grilled cheese should be, and the bacon and tomato just added to the experience! Deserts? Of course! Choose from sundaes or, as in my case, a milkshake or malt. I opted for a raspberry malt, which was thick and tasty, but thin enough to pull through a straw. (Unlike a certain fast-food joint where you can hold a malt upside down and it won't budge. Don't try that at Murph's!) There were about five employees in the store, one working at the ice cream section, some making popcorn, and some in the back makingCandy. Everyone was keeping busy, but they all greeted us. One of the gals offered to help and told us about the specials right away. We bought fudge because my husband and son love it and I bought truffles. Everything was delicious. I sampled a little bit of the salted caramel corn, which was equally tasty. I wish I would've bought some. We got some of our delicious candy and headed out. I really just love the atmosphere and how they created their space for their Candy shop. If you don't drive out to Marshalltown anytime soon, they also ship out all over the country.
