The good thing about reading reviews in Yelp before actually dining at a restaurant is that you have been forewarned if the place serves good food or not. Well, it can also be something that persuades you to not even attempt to try. As a foodie, I have to try. Haha!
7 Flavors has a good facade with ample parking spaces. The ground floor serves ala carte while the second floor serves buffet. Some nights they have acoustics. Unfortunately, the bakeshop as seen outside is nowhere to be found.
One of the main owners of the restaurant is celebrity chef Boy Logro, whose face can be seen all over the restaurant. Unfortunately, it just stopped there. Chef Logro's specialty dishes cannot be seen nor tasted, and so does the person himself. Generally, the 7 flavors are sweet, sour, spicy, bitter, salty, umami, and astringent, but I think there were too many flavors that I couldn't find them in the dishes served.
Food set-up is simple. There are only a few dishes divided into: salad, cold cuts, soup, hot meals, sushi and maki, and desserts. Cuisines are mostly asian. One main issue is the presentation of the food. When I got to the restaurant at 7pm, the hot foods are no longer hot. Most of the items looked stale and dry. The cold cuts already looked like jerky. The grilled squid looked it died last month. I would suggest they put food onto a chafing dish that can be warmed.
Dishes served has more misses than hits. The dishes I like best would probably be the Kare-Kare, different kinds of sushi and maki creatively made, cream of vegetable soup, and the salmon head.
The good thing about this restaurant is their willingness to improve. I have read all the reviews and compared to my experience, they have improved on the complaints of their diners. A promising restaurant, I hope it does not just bank on the fame of the chef, but can "utilize" him as well. read more
