I remember going during my lunch breaks as a high schooler and getting their famous taquitos thinking I was cool. But, hey, they are good. And I'm still cool. As we were moving in last week to the new place, my brother stopped by to pick up some cold water bottles. On the way back, he changed his mind and also got us some Limon y Sal Modelos. Delicious!!! We went back for more a few days after and had a nice dinner with the family with some ice cold Modelos, this time trying the Mango Chile and Tamarindo Picante flavors. All good. I still prefer the lime zest and salt flavor. The general cleanliness of the store is not bad. The Redbox is abysmal and it makes me wonder how often it is used nowadays with the flexibility of watching moves online nowadays. There's also almost always a vagabond standing in front of the store asking for money which makes it uncomfortable for customers. This was the absolute worst 7-11. A white man helped my family and I and was ridiculously rude. He was yelling at us and had a horrible attitude. I've never had a customer service like his. HORRIBLE. I would give this review of 0 if it was for him but a middle eastern man was very nice and apologized for how we had been treated. I suggest if you a person of a color don't go here. I was waiting a while to write the review on this place as it really is --- the cultural Mecca of Sunland. This particular 7-11 is probably the most trafficked and frequented place along the Boulevard. Many 7-11's probably have been looked at and described carefully and you may think you may understand all that there ever is or will be about 7-11, but in this instance prepare to find true understanding. First, no on has ever won any sizable Lottery Jackpot at this location, statistically making it a sure-thing down the road for some lucky, low-income player. The struggling counter supplies tell the tale of loss and shame amongst the candidacy of Lottery gold. Second, and please don't get too upset when I break this announcement off, but the hotdogs served at 7-11 are probably the best in the city. Even better than the wait-for-an hour-in-line Pink's. Yes, I said it. Pink's doesn't even stand in the glory of 7-11 hotdogs for one reason and one reason alone. 7-11 uses Hebrew National and advertises that fact clearly. Pink's uses an off brand dog that's owned by Hoffa. Now please forgive me, but Jimmy Hoffa was never found and just the idea of eating a dog by a company named after a missing piece of meat, leaves me downright suspicious. And on a side note: after every Pink's dog I ever ate, my anus started the proverbial porcelain itch, if you know what I mean. Twenty minutes later, I was always sitting watching my body evacuate a strange and unknown bacteria life form. Sorry Pinks, but you're for tourists, not die-hards and locals. 7-11 has almost reached perfection with its hotdogs, the only downfall are the people who handle them. Certain cultural humps will probably never be mastered. Third, the coffee at this 7-11 is incredibly good, never burnt, self-serve, simple, heavily caffeinated and always hot, unlike its neighbor that I recently reviewed a few days back. It's pretty difficult to mess up a good cup of coffee, but Starbucks takes pride in that footrace. Fourth, if you're the kind that likes to help the homeless, start here. I've spent hours talking with some of these poor indigent fellows that were born in Sunland, raised in Sunland and became homeless in Sunland. Hard to believe, but believe me --- I heard it. There is a living, breathing, growing street community here and this 7-11 is the early evening hotspot where everyone comes to panhandle, play guitar, loiter in the parking lot and verbally accost the invisible. I recently was offered a copy of the new 'Casino Royale' on bootleg DVD, but when I opened the case, there was no disk. The guy said: "I'll mail it to you, but you have to pay in advance for that." Yeah, right. I'm all over it. Check the schedule: 6am --- 11am ... Day Laborers galore 12pm --- 4pm ... Skateboarders & Street vendors 4pm --- 7pm ... Meth addicted guitar players 7pm --- 9pm ... Meth-addicted mentally ill 9pm --- 2am ... Regular old school homeless This 7-11 may one day find its way onto National Geographic, but for now, it's social gold. Enjoy it, before the gentrification comes in like alcohol in a Meth Lab and evaporates the real substance here. On a Post Script: Be advised that on weekends this particular 7-11 is a popular meeting point for Motorcycle Clubs across Southern California, and is heavily discussed on websites. This is commonly reffered to as the "Big Tujunga 7-11." Cruising the Boulevard early enough will allow you to witness this in action. This place is just like any other 7-Eleven. It has every convenient store type of stuff you will need, so in that sense it is fine. My main point of this post is to just provide information on some of the random things that make me give this place two stars. As a woman, I generally am hesitant to go into stores that have people just hanging out outside the doors. There was some transient/homeless guy sitting outside asking for change and looked like he had been set up there for quite a while. This isn't the first time either, so I'm guessing this is a common thing here. I guess it just doesn't make me feel super comfortable going to this place because I feel like I'm going to get harassed. Also, parking really is lame here. There are a ton of tiny spots and a number of shops right by so the parking lot is always crowded and it isn't really fun trying to get in and out of there either. I would say, save yourself the trouble and go to the much more spacious and less intimidating 7-Eleven down the road a little in Tujunga. read more

For some reason, Sunland/Tujunga has a huge abundance of 7-11's. For me, they're all pretty much the same, give or take a couple of things; like, parking here isn't ever really a problem, whereas the one on foothill and tujunga canyon is always a hassle for parking since there's all of 5 (legal) spots for customers to park in. one thing I did notice in particular about this 7-11 is that the cops like to frequent here. *7-11 Exclusive Blend coffee is on point! and at less than $2 a cup, why ever go to Starbucks again? read more

This place is dirty and crowded for no reason. The service is awful and there isn't even any gas pumps outside. The owner/employee doesn't even smile at customers. We needed some cough drops for my sister so we bought some from here and asked to use the restroom. The guy behind the counter said they didn't have one, which is a load of BS. I hate writing bad reviews, especially when it comes to small businesses but this guy doesn't put forth any effort to be even somewhat pleasant. read more

I like this 7-11 never have had any problems. The younger girl is really nice too. The iced coffee is delicious! I also like their other options of self serve beverage like the hot cocoa and different types of hot coffee. I bought a 20 oz. Coca-Cola for $2.23. I gave him $5.25. He gave me back $3 bucks.... I had to ask him for me 2 cent. Plus, he knocked my bottle down when he handed me my change. As 7-11s go, this one is...probably not the best choice. I've lived in Sunland for several years now, and you quickly realize that there are certain spots where homeless people frequent. This is one of those spots. Most of the time, they'll be 1-2 homeless guys sitting right outside the door. It's a bit off-putting, but it seems the store managers, as well as the customers, have gotten used to it. The store itself is a bit disappointing. It has your usual 7-11 stuff, chips, slushies, sodas, the works. It's not very large, but then again, it's 7-11. The real irker for me is the cleanliness, or rather, the lack thereof. There's napkins everywhere, and the slushie station is a mess. I mean, I know it's a convenience store, but...eeee.... So, overall, if you really need something fast, it's not like they're overpricing (as far as I know...), but there's definitely better options. Note: On Sunday mornings, a dozen or so motorcyclists congregate in the parking lot. Don't be alarmed; they're actually less intimidating then the homeless guys. read more

Came in to get coffee. They didn't have my favorite flavor (cinnamon) so I went for the Pumpkin Spice and it was freezer cold (no kidding). So I dumped it and got the regular coffee and it too was freezer cold. I ended up getting French Vanilla and there wasn't enough to fill my extra large cup so had to downsize to a large. When I told the lady at the register she had the nerve to tell me 300-500 customers have come by and none have complained about the things I'm complaining. What ever happened to good old customer service? Additionally they have signs saying they'll brew any flavor just ask and when I asked her about brewing Cinnamon she said they don't carry it. Overall a horrible experience this morning. Will not be back again. read more

This is the customer complaint I left on the 7-11 website.. I actually rate them 0 stars, but hey To whom it may concern: Hello, I am writing this because I love 7-11 and I hate to see people/employees give it a bad name so I'm writing this complaint with the hopes someone will see this and consider some sort of actions to make my experiences with this particular Shadow Hills store a lot less excruciating. I go to check out and am greeted by the employee in question. I grab 3 wonka laffy taffy's from the candy section. The employee proceeds to scan the candy but for whatever reason it doens't scan. So he looks at the wrapper which states (3/.99cents). The man then proceeds to enter $3.99 in to the register essentially charging me $15.96 for the 3 taffy's. I tell him that is not correct and then he proceeds to tell me I am wrong and that the taffy wrapper clearly states ($3.99). After 3 minutes of trying to explain what (3/.99cents or 3 for .99 cents) means he gets an attitude and I tell him to ask the guy in the freezer because I figured someone that works here must know what (3 for .99 cents) means. He comes back to the register and proceeds to charge me the 3 laffy taffy's for 99 cents each. I tell him its wrong, (Now I've been standing here for 5-6 minutes already dealing with this going back and forth) now he is clearly angry so I ask him what his name is because he has no name tag on. He then tells me "I'm not telling you my name". At this time I'm calm, I did not raise my voice once but am very irritated at this time. I proceed to bother a customer to try to explain the best he can to this employee that it is (3 for 99 cents). The random man obliges and after several attempts the employee nods and then charges me .99 cents EACH for the essentially .33 or .50 cent candy. At this time I am just completely in awe of the incompetence of this particular man and tell him to take the 3 taffy's off the purchase because it still isn't right. Now this particular 7-11 is close to my house and I come here every day which in turn attributes to me spending close to $200 dollars here every month. If you'd like me to return to your store I need complete assurance that this issue will be addressed and that something like this does not happen in the future. Also, In a separate instance which happened around a month ago. I walk into the the store, notice no one is in the store including employees.. I look outside, next to the door and see the cashier having a smoke break with a buddy of his. At this time I'm at the cashier with my money out waiting for him to check me out. This man clearly see's that I'm standing at the register but yet continues to smoke and proceeds with his conversation. Astonished by the customer services I'm receiving I leave the store and take my business else where. I thought about making a complaint about this situation but really, who has the time for all of this, but after multiply instances I have no choice but to express my disgust with this particular 7-11 store. I will say, 7-11 was my first job and at that time I learned how to be polite, greet customers, and make sure they have the best experience possible so that they keep coming back but this is just astonishing that a store can be run like this yet still survive. I'm sure if things had changed they would see a pretty significant increase in sales. One more thing.. The condiments/and food (more specifically pico de gallo, onions, pizza) at this particular store looks as if they have been left there for days maybe even a week without being changed out. Actually I can confirm this because as stated before, I come here every day and if I'm in the mood for a hot-dog I will go directly to the condiments and see that the same pico de gayo hasn't been touched since 3 days ago when I came in and saw the same thing and left. I'm intelligent enough to figure out when something definitely looks like it's gone bad and this is just another thing I will drive 5 miles to another 7-11 or another business just to able to eat your amazing big-bite hot-dogs, but it's a inconvenience for me to do this when one is so close to my house. read more

This is a great 7-Eleven. There are never long lines and they have all the good stuff you would expect from a 7-Eleven. The slurpees, the sodas, chips and candy. I love their selection and variety of junk food. It is always nice to go into a 7-Eleven and see the stuff that you expect to find. I don't like when the 7-Elevens are different from each other. I like when they are all exactly the same and this one is exactly the same as the others I have been to so I like going there. read more

This dude behind the counter has sold me lottery tickets before, suddenly this day he decided he wouldn't let me use my debit card. When asked why, he didn't give an explanation rather he kept repeated himself. It was clear that he just didn't want to make the sale to me, despite my being reasonable and polite. This is the 7 eleven closest to my house so time and time again I have gone here for little things but mostly their ATM. I just don't like the vibe I get from the employees here the second you walk in or anyone for that matter they give you a look and stare down as if you're up to no good. I get it I'm sure they've had their fair share of problems with people especially this part of the neighborhood.
