It was a beautiful day when I walked into the 7-Eleven on 170 E Spring Valley in Richardson! Upon entering the store, I immediately saw the cashier talking down at the man in a wheelchair, and I sensed the negative energy. As I walked past them and got into line, the man, having said nothing to my knowledge, rolled towards the door empty-handed. I got out of line to open the door for him, and he left, still without saying a word. When I returned to the counter, I smiled and asked the same cashier how she was doing, and she told me that she never wanted that man in her store again! I was surprised at her response but dropped it and asked her for six packs of Marlboro Light 100's Special Select, as I always do at every 7-Eleven I go to. 7-Eleven has the best price overall, and that's why I buy them there. If you buy 2 (or more) packs of these and use your Rewards, you can get six packs for under $40. There's a promotional sign in front of them stating the price per pack (after the previously mentioned discounts) for $6.18. She got the cigarettes, rang them up, and the total was $42.74. I immediately caught notice that this was more than I normally pay, but wanted to be certain before I said anything. She handed me the sack but didn't offer a receipt, so I asked for it. I walked out and got into my car, where I opened my phone's calculator and did the math. Sure enough, I was overcharged, paying $6.69 per pack! I walked back into the store and got behind the man she was ringing up, and she said, "Do you have a question?" I said, "Yes, but I'll wait until you're finished with this customer." She said to the man, "Go back to work!" twice. He told her he was trying to. (Another odd exchange.) He paid and left and politely said I didn't think I was charged correctly and showed her my calculations on my phone. She immediately got defensively offensive and began talking in circles about the Rewards discounts having already been added and handed me her calculator, saying, "Use this!" twice. I told her both times I didn't need one as I had one. I pointed to the promotional sign to prove what the price should have been, but she wouldn't look at it and was seemingly attempting to confuse me with nonsensical reasons why I was wrong in a bullying manner. I remained calm and continued to ask her to look at the sign. She finally looked but went and pointed at the one next to it instead, and I had to repeat three times that it was the one next to it. She clearly did not want to acknowledge it. She walks back to the counter and demands, "Where are your cigarettes?" Totally confused, I said they were in my car. She told me, "Go get them! I'm going to refund them!" I went back and got them and gave them to her and then spent the next 10 minutes standing there while she attempted to refund the purchase on the debit card I used. She tried five times on that register, four on the one next to it, and each time I had to re-enter my phone number, and she would have to input a long number the register gave her, all to no avail. After the ninth attempt, she looked at me and accusingly stated, "It's declined!" I said, "That doesn't make sense. It's a credit!" She then says, "Let me go get my boss!" (I thought he wouldn't be there until the next morning?) She leaves and walks into the refrigerated area, and by this time, I had noted her name. Her name Is MATY. Maty and a man in a winter coat emerged from the door of the refrigerated area, and he walked up to the register and, without greeting me, or saying anything at all, went thru the same actions Maty had done to refund my money. Five times. I had had enough by then and told him I had places to be, I'd spent 20 minutes in there, and I would still need to stop at another 7-Eleven to get cigarettes! He then started the same nonsense about the Rewards and rang up two packs to prove his incorrect nonsense. The total was $13.38. I said, "Ok!" and divided $13.38 by two, which resulted in $6.69 per pack! I said, "That's 51 cents over per pack!" He handed me the bag of cigarettes, reached into his pocket, and handed me $4. I left the store promising this review with a shoutout to Maty and said, "See ya never!" I don't know if they're intentionally scamming their customers, but I do know that their interpersonal relationship skills could not be any worse, and Maty should be fired.

Inside has lots of sitting areas, but it does get filled fast with people who want to relax and study or read a quiet book to themselves. There's seasonal drinks are delicious, but I stick to my tried and true- Beez Kneez I had a little modification of a little extra honey, and a few splashes of heavy cream. If you ever tried and loved the Bell milk from La La Land, you'll know why I quickly became addicted to adding heavy cream too all my coffees lol Everyone there is always so friendly and quick to recommend things if you're deciding between two different drinks. Love love love it here!!

Located among the shops and bars of historic downtown sits 1418 Coffee, a cute and genuinely great little shop that fits the area perfectly. Inside, the shop is fairly narrow but offers a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I arrived with a friend a little before 11 am on a Sunday, and it was absolutely packed. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. They consistently do a great job and fit right into the charm of downtown Plano. RIYL: A warm haven in a beautiful downtown.

We went for the heavy brunch for 4 people ($70) and while the menu photo looks like a well…read moreorganized spread, the reality is far less aesthetic. You do get a variety of items, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, salami, feta, and so on so there are a lot of plates on small surfaces and that's before the tea arrives. Two standout issues: Tea arrived 20 minutes after the food. When you're eating a brunch built around shared plates and warm drinks, that timing really throws off the rhythm of the meal. Table space is a real problem. The sheer number of dishes that come with the brunch service is tough to accommodate. There are two large tables that can support this meal better but if the table is occupied prepared to be cramped, we've tried both of the other tables, a settee which was very uncomfortable and then opted for the circular tables but they were not level and had their own issues. The third could just be a bad day, but the person delivering food splashed olive juice all over the table and chairs and made no effort to clean it up until we asked. The olives will certainly be less messy in a bowl, but also it's courtesy if you make a spill you wipe it off for the customer. We ordered pizzas and fries for the kids, hoping for some reliable crowd-pleasers. Sadly, both were a miss on flavor and again took about 45 -60 minutes to arrive. We didn't try any of the sweet offerings ourselves, but we noticed plenty of other tables ordering desserts and coffees -- they clearly seemed popular. I hesitate to return with Kids given the long wait times. But this is a cute place for a dessert and a coffee/tea while enjoying some of the shopping in the same plaza. Recommend the owners check the phone number on Yelp, I called several times only to ring to a voicemail box that isn't set up.
