The Eastern Avenue at Sunset Road 7-Eleven.
When it comes to convenience within a relatively close walk to my residence, this 7-Eleven is "Four Stars" in my book. On those days that I do not feel like getting in my car, it is nice to get some exercise then pick up an item such as a nachos & cheese, a Big Gulp, or a 32 Miller High Life for later. This 7-Eleven has also been convenient on my drive back from work.
This 7-Eleven fills a niche within the Sunset Park area, which is home to the park proper, warehouses, professional buildings, hotels, apartments, and homes. This adds a star for these people including me that would have to travel further for convenience if this location was nonexistent. This is a convenience store that is better stocked, yet higher priced, than the nearby Sunset Road Chevron /Terrible's.
Where I am fortunate to have a home, unfortunately there is a high population of people houseless that seem to make Sunset Park and it's surroundings home. Quite a few seem to have a substance abuse issue instead of having a bad circumstances issue. A downside to this location is that houseless folks seem appear to hang out here. There have been a couple of times that when I visited here by car that I immediately left on account of a sketchy character. Speaking of crime, if Las Vegas had a low crime rate this would be a nice 7-Eleven to enjoy a beverage and snack in the car while looking across Harry Reid International Airport toward the Las Vegas Strip. Especially at night.
This 7-Eleven would also come through for me if I wanted to have a picnic across the street in Sunset Park. I have enjoyed a Big Gulp with nachos & cheese from the Pecos at Sunset location while sharing a picnic table with a roadrunner. I could see myself returning here before a Sunset Park picnic. Additionally, say if I wanted to take the bus to the Las Vegas Strip, being right off two bus routes, I might stop in for a beverage or snack.
As far as customer service, the store lacks on their Western Union expertise. Western Union lists them as an agent. However, when I went here to buy a money order the cashier alleged that it was out of service then recently when I asked about Western Union, the Cashier looked at me like "What?"
To the motorist passing by on Eastern Avenue or Sunset Road, this is just an older 1970s style 7-Eleven. However, to people like myself that live nearby and people that work nearby or are on the way to attractions such as Sunset Park, or waiting for the bus; when there is not a sketchy character hanging out in the front, the Eastern Avenue at Sunset Road 7-Eleven is "Four Stars." read more
