I also ordered a spinach croissant (which was small, and did not have much seasoning or flavor when compared to all the other spinach croissants I have eaten) and a chicken pastelito. The total cost was NOT cheap--nearly $15! The pastelito was warm, and although it was tasty, it was not extraordinary--much less heavenly! So this first experience with Toma Toma was not as special as I had anticipated, nor indeed as I had wanted. Nice little place, and very kind owner, but I would recommend the Alchemist Bakery in Canton over Toma Toma, ten times out of ten, as they have better coffee, better prices and infinitely better pastries!

They also have some interesting coffee/tea drinks - but the real event here is the baked goods. The beverages are not bad, but they are there to support the baked goods. We've had many a delicious baked good here, both sweet and savory, and we get a different one every time. I love the whimsical decor and the fact that that they have a full bookshelf for kiddos to enjoy. I also appreciate that they support other small local businesses. They always have a table with locally made cards, jewelry and soaps, and dog treats from Mookie's. Sometimes they will have someone with a booth set up selling their crafts. Any proper Portuguese bakery must make fresh loaves of sweet bread. Yes, this bakery has the requisite homemade sweet bread (a note: growing up in Rhode Island, where there is a substantial Portuguese population, I had Portuguese sweet bread all the time--try it for French toast--but I have not yet tried Stoughton bakery's). And it has delicious custard tarts, and egg tarts, too. And they have Portuguese fried dough (it has a name in Portuguese, which I can't remember!) which is chewy and sugary, and has a gentle hint of lemon. Yum. It's on a side street very near the Stoughton MBTA station. It's a small and very clean place, with somewhat limited offerings, but everything I have had is the real deal. The woman who works there is a kind and gentle sort, and the prices are super affordable. I will note that it may be around a 3.5, but I rounded it up to 4 stars, as I was very happy to find this!
