There is often limited seating available as it is a popular place for people to sit, chat, and work. For parking longer than 15 minutes, there is a paid lot just up Gallatin street next to the post office. I love the garage door entrance when the weather is nice. Feels like a nice, welcoming, community space.

My goat cheese and strawberry preserves grilled cheese sandwich ($9.50) was decent. The missus' French toast ($15.75) was very rich, and definitely doesn't need any addt'l syrup. Our server, JJ, was uber attentive, checking on us frequently. We'd return, if in the College Park area.

Somehow, I had only been to this place during the winter time, but it is a completely different vibe during the warmer months. The outdoor space is stunning, and everything just feels brighter and happier. The staff are really nice, the patrons are enjoying themselves, and they just have excellent food. My friend and I happen to come during this fashion show event so there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres for everybody present, but we still ordered delicious deviled eggs (I could've eaten a whole tray of them) and had some great cocktails. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. But based on the stuff that's on the shelf in front of them, I am not 100% sure that they are up for grabs, but it still looks cool. Anyone who is in this area should definitely pay them a visit. You won't regret it.

This past Saturday the shop was buzzing as it tends to be, filled with students back on campus. The parking lot was a bit chaotic, but I got lucky with scoring a spot. The latte hit and I was able to return to the beltway hustle with a little peace and caffeine. Thank you, Vigilante for always getting it right!

I've heard good things about the honey cinnamon latte / coffee in general! I tried the chai latte w/ oat milk (no up-charge for milk alternatives, which is much appreciated), but was surprised to find out it's very, very gingery. It was good, just a bit too much for me personally, as I was looking for a standard/regular chai, but if you like ginger check that out! I would come back to try other drinks. Our barista was nice.

Mixt is an absolute gem…read more I like the variety of food stalls that are available to visitors; La Michoacana is my usual go to as it offers some great Mexican fare. The other stalls offer seafood, burgers, wings, and pizza options. There's 4-6 food options today and have plenty of variety for those with specific tastes. Mixt is a GREAT social venue; it has a huge U shaped bar that easily seats 25+ guests. The weekday and Sunday all-day happy hours offer some great prices on cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. Because the bar is so large, I've never had trouble finding a seat for my group of friends. Perhaps the best use of Mixt is as an event and meetup space; I've been to several gatherings and events here and have had a great experience every time. There is a second floor open space which is perfect for a group of 20+ folks. We've also set up impromptu events around the large bar area; there are so many seating options, it was easy to occupy 10-15 seats without monopolizing the space. Mixt also hosts some really great events; we've been for Halloween bingo and Christmas music bingo. They do a really great job of pulling the local community into their space to enjoy food, drinks, and togetherness. Parking can sometimes be tricky -- there is a small free parking garage that fits about 10 cars. If you're not part of the lucky 10, be prepared to park in the nearby neighborhood and walk a block or two. It's not the worst parking, but a larger garage would be useful. Looking forward to my next visit to Mixt!

The bar is also a nice touch and the drinks are good. I've been here many times when the bar is packed out and it seems like a great time!! There are plenty of tables and outlets so this is probably a comfy coworking space in the daytime. There are a few parking spaces in the connected garage and there is free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

I peeped their website and noted that they sold Shortcake Bakery's patties, which is what I was looking for. Inside, this place is funky and fun. The staff were friendly. I tasted a few meads and went with the Mead Marian, a traditional mead, which was quite good. I also had the vegetable and curry chicken patties, which were excellent. The bathroom had a primer on bees, which was helpful and means I am minimally less likely to run screaming from them. I highly recommend siting and I am looking forward to returning.

One of the main mead ingredients is honey, which explains why they use a bee as their logo. They offer free tastings of all of their meads, and most of them can be in a flight of 3-5oz pours, depending on ABV. The Zanzibar and Mead Marian were my favorites -- one was their standard, and the other was their strongest. They were a lot of cool ones in between, like one having a coffee flavor, one being spicy, some being combined with fruits.... there was a lot of fun to be had tasting all of those. The honey taste really comes out most of the time. They don't make their own food, but they offer some snacks and sell patties and desserts from Shortcake Bakery, the shop next door. I had a chicken and veggie patty -- both were delicious and flaky! It also ended up being a night when a live performer was playing. I was devastated to see that I had just missed karaoke the night before though. The band was AWESOME, I have to say... very funky, and they weren't too loud either for the space. Some folks from my party got up dancing, so that's a good sign yeah?? All in all, I'd delightfully come back here just to hang out. Did I mention they have a bunch of board games? Pro tip: parking outside is EXTREMELY limited -- overflow is at the park across the street from Shortcake Bakery. After a certain time, you need to grab a pass from inside Meadworks.
