I may be traveling and technically "on vacation," but work doesn't stop -- and the first half of…read moretoday was happily spent at Zinc Coffee. The space itself is a clever reuse of a former gas station, fitting since we're just off the Mother Road, Route 66. That history adds a nice layer of character to the industrial‑but‑comfortable setting, with plenty of seating for both solo workers and small groups. I was the first customer through the door this morning and ordered a cortado. It was perfectly prepared: served in the proper short glass, accompanied by a small glass of seltzer as tradition dictates. I set up my laptop at a two‑top table right by a power outlet and settled in for two very pleasant hours. Between the thoughtful service, the quality of the coffee, and the inviting atmosphere, Zinc Coffee made working on the road feel easy. Five stars, without hesitation. This time I had the absolute worst meal I've ever had there (or anywhere for that matter) Not sure what happened to the quality or quality control. I ordered the 5-piece Tenders Meal with tater tots. What I got were tough strips of chicken that seemed like they had been laying around for a while and then dunked back in the grease to get them hot. There were some tater tots (cold and greasy), one (yes one) sad looking limp french fry, a one-inch round onion ring that tasted like someone accidentally spilled syrup or something sweet on it, and a piece of bread that seemed more like a limp day-old pancake. Left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively.

The hours are unposted and a little odd, but I've had good luck getting in every time I go. I love all the white equipment which brightens up the space, and the smile on the barista (who I believe is also the owner) finishes lighting up the place. Even with my random travel schedule, she always remembers my name and my drink order. On this stop, I found out that the owner has recently started roasting coffee as well. I had an amazing cup of Guatemala coffee that she had roasted. So smooth, very aromatic and the tasting notes were spot on. If you get a chance to visit, I would highly recommend visiting this amazing little shop. Support small business and women owned business!

The young lady returned my coffee but she gave me the expression that she did not believe me. I gave 4 stars because I didn't review Cup O Joe the first time I tried it. I was not impressed by her customer service or lack of personality by how she had the "high school I'm better than you attitude" in how she spoke. The 2nd visit was pretty much the same as the first. This time I was greeted by an older lady and when asked about their "spa" services she is looking at me as if I'm crazy until I followed with "massages" and finally caught on to what I was wanting to know. I also felt as if I was not welcomed by her use of "not caring" tone. I suppose I expect too much in regard to customer service. I will not return to this shop due to their small town, I don't know who you are so you don't matter attitudes. I'll take my business somewhere else.

The atmosphere feels a little less industrial than Zinc and leans more toward the inviting "coffee shop" style, yet it remains an excellent choice for remote workers who want a reliable and pleasant setting. I once again ordered a cortado, and it was once again excellent. Served in the proper short glass, it provided exactly the kind of boost I needed to dig through my mailbox and get everything prepared for the weekend. The consistency here is impressive, and the attention to detail in presentation makes the experience even better. This is a comfortable and quiet place for laptop workers, with seating that encourages focus and a background hum that never becomes distracting. There is street parking right outside, along with a free lot and deck across the street, which makes access easy and stress free. Five stars from me, and I would be glad to spend another full work day here, enjoying both the coffee and the calm environment that makes productivity feel natural. This shop hands down, is why I am on track to graduate early. This weekend, two of the staff members have started telling customers that 'oat milk does not foam'. When I was told this, I thought they meant that oat milk does not foam 'well'. I was mistaken. I received a drink which had no foam. The quality is comparable to a latte which has been microwaved for a warm-up after 40 minutes: Flat. Dull. Disappointing. What happened to the froth? The effervescence? The reason I don't make coffee myself and just add creamer is because I feel the quality of a latte or cappuccino from a coffee shop is worth more than any money I would save making a subpar coffee at home. I love this coffee shop, but I cannot be a patron of this business while this false narrative, born from necessity (milk supplier change perhaps...?) or from laziness, I do not know. I'll end with this protest: oat milk CAN foam!
