The service here is terrible unless you are the only person in line. I've waited in the car line for 30+ minutes.

I arrived at the Smoothie King drive-thru at 7:50 PM on Sunday June 22nd 2025--well before the posted closing time of 8:00 PM. I was told to "wait a minute," so I waited patiently in line. After nearly 10 minutes with no further response or service, a young employee exited through the back door--presumably to go home--and told me they had stopped taking orders at 7:40 PM. When I expressed my disappointment about being told to wait and then ignored, she responded in a dismissive and somewhat rude tone, saying, "The boy always tells people that," and added that they had already removed their headsets. There was no apology or concern for the customer experience. If the hours posted say you're open until 8:00 PM, that should mean you're serving customers until that time--not walking out the door. Based on this interaction, it seems 8:00 PM means that's when the staff leaves, not when they stop serving. This is incredibly poor business practice. Turning customers away 10-20 minutes before close, after asking them to wait, shows a complete lack of professionalism. Judging by other reviews, this isn't an isolated incident. There are frequent complaints about this location not opening on time or closing early. It's clear there's a serious lack of oversight and accountability. If the owners are aware and allow this behavior to continue, that's even more concerning. I try and stop here every time I'm in town but will be looking for an alternative place. Follow-Up Review / Response to Management: I keep seeing responses asking customers to "provide more information," but the problem is very clear and consistent: your store is not operating during the posted business hours. This was one of my favorite places when I was little and I just had to stop here for the nostalgia. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had lots of plant based options. I got the angel food smoothie and it was just as good as I remember. The staff was extremely nice and made sure our order was correct. I am excited that Smoothie King made its way to Joplin! To be fair, I went on the very first day it was open. There were 10 crew members working this afternoon, and it still took 12 minutes to get my order, in an empty store with only the drive-thru adding to the load. But I will come back again after a few weeks to see if it (hopefully) improves after more training and experience... The smoothie I ordered came out a bit thicker than usual (compared to other Smoothie King locations), but still tasted ok. $5 32 oz smoothies on Fridays helps too. read more

What an amazing place! It's always clean, the staff are super friendly, and knowledgeable, and the service is fast. They have something for everyone! From kids sizes and low sugars, to vegan, high proteins, and tons of fruits to choose from! Stopped in while visiting my friend.. I'm a California girl so we have smoothie shops everywhere .. I was expecting a watered down smoothie (humidity everywhere ) but I was pleasantly surprised not only at the quality but the service .. I was greeted with a smile and walked through the line up (I forgot my glasses on the passenger side ) come to find out the manager is also from California too ... tabitha was very friendly yet professional and helped me navigate even further ( I dont really like super sweet and I'm keto as well ) when I visit my friend again I will FOR SURE stop by to get my drink on!! read more

This place is awesome. Even tho the combinations sound weird, the smoothies taste great! You'll get addicted, be careful. $5 Friday's are the best, I went and had a lovely chat with the super helpful manager who let me taste test to make sure I found just what was right for me.
