No-frills decor, TVs with sports on and a bar with stools on one end, and ordering space at the other. I've seen mention of the bartenders being rude. Correction, I think, they are BUSY! The area I ordered from had a line, and I always got an ice cold beer, so I was happy. Only thing is, I was here specifically for karaoke. First, the (minor) dings: the area is literally in a back room, kinda cramped. No big deal. The acoustics aren't great, but again, I've been to worse! Long rotation? Well, yeah. Unfortunately, you have to sign up on a yellow tablet. Get over it, lots of people want to sing, and I had a blast when I did. My big problem was the KJ announcing on the mic that if you want to be "moved up" in the list, it would take a $20 tip. That's a bit much. I say this as someone who hosted for 13 years in Austin, TX. I've never heard of a host doing this, which knocks my rating down. Would I return? Probably, but I'll just get there earlier!

When I asked my server when I got the first bill I thought happy hour was going on she said " It might be applied to just our house wines." Then, when I pointed out there was a discrepancy on the menu vs. the first bill I received she looked at it and said " Well that might be because the register automatically just applied that charge to the bill". There is also plenty to keep you entertained in terms of bar games. They have TVs all over the place and are pretty good at finding the game you want to watch. They have food and snacks in case you get hungry. It's typical pub grub and fairly forgettable. But at least you can order food. Alright, now on to trivia. Every Tuesday night at 7PM they have pub trivia. This is what has kept me coming back week after week. The set up is simple, easy, and free to play. First and second place get gif cards ($50 and $25 respectively). It would be cool to see third place get something small but I'm not complaining. One of the coolest aspects of trivia, is that week in and week out you have the same teams showing up. I've found it be incredibly fun and strongly suggest you check it out.

Any tavern that looks like a Country Kitchen with a neon Truckers Welcome sign out front is for real. I still don't know the smoking rules in Texas after all these years but it doesn't matter here either way: you're gonna walk outta here smelling like Grandma's ashtray. Hey, the place was clean and reminiscent of the mobile home I grew up in, wood paneling and all. I got a couple of stiffies here for a good price but they were top shelf at least, I might have been getting the stranger treatment. Nice bartender though. When I was there it was just several dudes talking loudly about their guns (they all seem to think they are imminent victims of attack) but the vibe was actually chill and full of mirth as it were mostly. There was a black dude wearing a Confederate flag straw cowboy hat holding court who was mostly pretty funny. I mean, WTF but whatever, right? I don't know what to say. It was exactly what I expected. Would I personally go there every day? Probably not. Would you avoid it like the plague? Maybe. It is exactly what you would expect. Give it a go.

Bodegas is a nightclub located in Downtown Amarillo at the Polk Street Entertainment District. It's a central location in the district and is rather easy to find. On weekends they open up their dance floors which double the bar in size. I always have a great time at Bodega's and see long-time friends here. The bartenders are friendly, there are always specials, and the drink selection is commendable. DJs tend to play anything from contemporary hiphop, old school (90's-2000's) hiphop, and some Latin music. They always know what to play to get the crowd moving. 5/5.
