A cool and unique spot! I bought two beautiful amber antique candy dishes. Owner has curated the…read morestore beautifully. Check it out!

This small business turned out to be a large disappointment. While shopping the antique/vintage…read morescene in the area we visited this establishment expecting antiques and what we found was beyond disturbing. The fact that there were very few antiques in the store was a disappointment but the friendly service made up for that until we discovered they sell body parts of "humanely euthanized cats from shelters." in jars to the public. When we questioned the owner she literally said the person selling these "scientific specimens" obtain the cats from shelters that had humanely euthanized them. There are so many things wrong and disturbing about her statement I almost laughed in her face but couldn't because she said it as if she actually believed it. These were/are not "scientific specimens" they are someone's business and where they are sourcing the kittens, cats and fetal kittens from is questionable. Local shelters should not be euthanizing cats, kittens and pregnant cats so a worker/ friend of a worker or the manager can sell or donate the bodies to an individual that will cut them up, place them into jars and sell them at a local "Antique & Oddities" shop. These are not "Oddities" these are the work of someone most likely breaking federal/state laws and definitely the law of decency. Recommend skipping this business if you are shopping with little ones, animal lovers, or find people profiting off the exploitation of euthanized (or worse) animals under the guise of "science" wrong.

I really like this place. I'm a bibliophile, myself. I have way too many books to read in my…read morelifetime; I suppose part of my book obsession isn't only about reading the of books, and extends to the finding and curating of a book collection, as no working dad has the time for reading the entire library that I'm building. Idk. Maybe I'm just preparing myself for a retirement spent in the books--either way, I have a habit of buying too many. Thus, it's rare that I leave a bookstore without a few or more in hand. In this case, I only purchased one upon my first visit to Fletcher's, and I believe the reason I purchased so few is simply that it's so difficult to sort through the books here unless one has much time to meander and stare at every book on the shelves and tables--and, for the tables/islands of books in the middle of the room, one must have time to pick up books stack by stack to search through them, else you can't actually see what the books are; it's like losing sight of the trees for the forest. Still, upon my visit, I did find one book that I've been meaning to purchase for years, and it happened to be in one of the stacks I picked up. I suppose there's something cathartic about picking up a stack of mystery books and searching through, hoping for a gem. It's a bit like gambling. Although, I simply did not have time in this visit to linger longer and meander through all the mystery piles. It is for the reason of accessibility--though the search may be fun--that I do deduct one star from my review. Were it easier to find books on the tables, I suppose I would leave a 5-Star review. And, on the surface, they really seem a 5-star independent bookshop. They have so much packed into such a quaint and whimsical location; I really loved the ambiance. The antiques were a nice addition--I'm now convinced that all book shops should double as antique shops with stained glass windows and panels such as this. It's gorgeous. And, yet, again, I still wish it were easier to search through these mountains of books on the tables. So, will I go back? ABAOLUTELY! and you should, too--but plan to need longer than expected to find books of interest. They're there--you just have to search through their tables thoroughly.

Great place to find incredible books at reasonable prices. The owner is a very nice person who…read moreyou'll find helpful in finding something interesting.
