I got a Jonas brothers cd for 2.99 but the stickers they put on the case perfectly covered all the cracks & the fact the whole case itself is broken. When I went to the register I was promted to sign up for their membership I asked if it cost anything & I was told no. That was a fucking lie it cost 11.99 a month & they got my email wrong so I can't even properly cancel I had to call the service & I was told I canceled but I don't believe. I will be pissed if I get a charge for 11.99 next month & I will never be buying cds or anything from here again. You get a better deal from eBay & Amazon

Wow I'm SHOCKED at how low the rating is! I ALWAYS love coming in here and ALWAYS find something!…read moreUsually I'm not looking for anything specific and just go in hoping to find at least one thing on my list of things to get! I always love the employees because they're knowledgable and very nice! The store is pretty easy to navigate but the movies may occasionally be a bit out of order! (That's all I really look at aside from the TV which is never mixed up because there's not NEARLY as much!) Most of the bad reviews are from over two years ago which even though I hadn't really been there before like last year I think I can confidently say that it's improved if it was ever bad and I think that you can safely believe that! But who knows! Overall I absolutely LOVE coming to this place and really hope a 10/10 from an Elite Yelper will help anyone that may have been turned off from going because of the 3/10 overall rating! (It may be higher after this review! Hopefully!) Thanks for reading!

This store is a must see (pun intended) for anyone with low or poor vision. My mom suffers from…read morelow vision issues and I've spent my fair share of time searching thru the internet to find her suitable magnifiers. Try to find a decent illuminated magnifier that has more than 3X magnification, it's not that easy. After just one call with Ken, the owner of The Low Vision Store, I knew we had found the right place AND it turns out it's just down the street from where my mom lives, go figure. Ken's website, thelowvisionstore.net, offers a wide range of hand held magnifiers that go from 1X to 14X. They also offer a bunch of other vision solutions for computers, reading machines and even a tiny camera that attaches to the side of your glasses (any glasses) and reads to you whatever you point the camera at. This is not a cheapie store tho, their prices start around $100 for some of their hand held magnifiers and go up from there, but they have some of the cutting edge solutions for low vision problems. At some point you have to ask yourself, how much is your vision worth? At that point, you'll find this store to be rather reasonable. It's not just the selection of products they carry that make this store a five star experience, it's really more about the service. Ken is a very calm, patient person and during our visit, he made us both feel right at home, his home. That's where his store is, it's in his home. If you take a step out the back door, there is a yard full of chickens (for eggs only). Ken doesn't run a regular retail store, but rather takes visitors by appointment. He says this way it's a one on one situation where the potential customer gets all the attention they might need. During our visit, he carefully and slowly explained all the different options to my mom, and let her try out all of his gadgets (he's got quite a few). In the end, my mom found a couple of items that will definitely help her vision. If I had one wish it would be to give all of my mom's vision back, but in the wishless world we live in, The Low Vision Store is the next best thing. Thanks Ken.

I decided to recreate a music system after rediscovering my old turntable and some LPs in a corner…read moreof my garage. But where to start? The first two friends I asked both immediately said "Fred's Sound of Music is where you want to go." Unique customer demographic. One of them is the former President of our congregation. The other is a biker. I'm glad I listened to them. I met Bill, the Operations Manager, when I walked in. I told him what I was thinking and he responded with questions; lots of questions. "How do you listen?", "What type of music do you listen to; Jazz, Rock, Classical, R&B?", "Vinyl, CDs, streaming?", "Where will the system be?", "How big is the room?", "How tech savvy are you?" etc., etc., etc. Every question was focused at determining what my needs were. Not at having me buy what Bill wanted to sell. I ended purchasing a Yamaha digital receiver, but with knobs, the manual interface boomers are comfortable with. The perfect fit for me. I couldn't be happier with the guidance I received from Bill. Chris resurrected my fifty year old Marantz direct drive turntable. It had a broken motor mount, a result of being dropped. With that damage the platter had cut an arc into the brushed aluminum the tone arm and controls attached to. I wasn't optimistic and fully expected someone to say "It can't be repaired. You'll need a new turntable." Instead, Chris came out from the back, looked at the table, wiggled the spindle back and forth (several times) and said "I can fix this." I was out of town when Chris called to tell me he had finished the repairs and de-oxing the circuitry. But he also said the cartridge was "toast" and the manufacturer had been out of business for years. He had some ideas for a replacement but wanted to know what kind of music I listened to and the condition and age of the LPs (more questions) before suggesting anything. Again the focus on customer need before business profits. He recommended a particular mid-level cartridge because the shape of the stylus worked particularly well with older, worn vinyl. My biggest surprise came when I picked up the turntable. Chris had gone the extra mile and both polished out the arc in the aluminum and cleaned and waxed the wooden platen of the turntable. It looked and sounded absolutely perfect. Fred's is about intentionally building a personal relationship with customers and not just moving product out the door. This is only possible by hiring people who value relationships. To paraphrase James Carville, "It's your people stupid." And the people at Fred's are exceptional. Spend some time at Fred's Sound of Music. I think you'll be glad you did.

Incredible service, good prices, and a shop full of temptation!…read more I recently pulled a pair of Traynor PA speakers out of retirement for a friend's outdoor birthday party. It had been 15 years since I last ran music through them, and this time they sounded unbalanced. I tested them the next day using a pink noise reference track, and confirmed that one of the high-frequency horns was much quieter than the other. I fired up ClaudeAI to find out what options I had for replacement, and it pointed me to a couple places and products online. I'd much rather buy local than from Amazon, so I did a quick search and found JaMac. When I called, they told me they could probably repair the existing horn for much less than it cost to replace it. They asked if it was easy to remove the horn (yes, just 6 screws), and told me how to identify whether it was repairable. I removed the horns, and confirmed it was the type they could repair! I just left the shop, and the repair was 15 minutes and only $16, for a new diaphragm. They tested both horns and confirmed that one was broken. They also tested the speaker crossover to make sure that hadn't led to the damage. The hardest part was leaving without buying a new set of speakers! The shop is full of great deals on really high quality speakers and components, but alas I have no excuse to buy any more speakers.
