I've lived here for a few years and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way to help residents when things are needed. Alex, who works in the maintenance department, spent over an hour with me helping me repair things and make an extra effort to replace some much needed fix ups. He made my day and people like him are big reasons I continue to live here. read more

My husband and I were starting our moving search. We had done extensive research into places that met our high standards and also places that offered various flexible options for leasing terms. I spoke with Ken on the phone he was fantastic and also we met up with Sara in person later that day. Both representatives at this location were very enthusiastic about the community. But why am I giving this 3 starts out of 5? Well while the staff were fantastic, the website/IT system running the apartment leases is less so. Remember I said we did extensive research into places that offered flexible leasing terms? Well, right on their website it allows you to choose pretty much any leasing term from 3-12 months and even submit an application. That seems pretty flexible doesn't it? After we spent a full hour with Sara touring the properties, picking out which buildings and locations appealed to us most, we were informed only 11 and 12 month leasing terms were available. We asked if there might me any other units that might have lower leasing terms, we were advised this was not the case. We were also advised that the site is deceiving because it does allow you to choose lower terms and submit it, but then when they receive the request in office they have to reach out to the potential tenant to advise they can't do that term. We wasted not only our time, but the staff's time at the location because of terrible website feature that needs to be fixed. Not only did we feel robbed of our time, but of a place we thought was going to work out. Bottom line, staff and facilities are beautiful, but the whole leasing structure is terrible. Don't waste your time unless you're in it for the long haul (12 months plus). read more

I've lived here about 5 years ago and it was great. I tried to move back and it has been a really horrible experience. My key fob never works, I can never get through the gates and/or my garage. ( I've had it replaced 4 times and still nothing) We live on the first floor and have yellow jackets that won't leave us alone even after getting a guy to come help. We have children and families knocking on our bedroom windows in the morning. And loud neighbors. The pool is 24 hours and every single weekend there's practically a concert at the pool with how loud they bump music. Like crazy electronic music and rap. Nothing even pleasant. Our upstairs neighbor has flooded our unit TWICE by leaving shower/toilet running. And the complex refuses to let us leave or give us a proper concession for the inconveniences of not being able to sleep in my room for over a week. We've been absolutely nice and never complained but now it's time to tell the truth. I've had maintenance walk in on me using the restroom! The washing machine is garbage it is extremely loud and has ruined some quality items. We've had holes in our unit, water damage, and inconveniences left and right. I truly don't recommend this complex and would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

I just moved in to this community and I have to say, I'm having the best experience so far! I toured with Sajada and from touring through the applying process, it was so smooth and personable. The Manager, Roxanne came out to greet me and asked if I had any questions and was just so sweet, I thought that was really nice. The property is gorgeous! My favorite is the pool and my new apartment is beautiful and perfect for me! I can't wait to decorate it and just enjoy living here for years to come! Thank you to the staff for making me feel welcome and making my experience amazing! read more

Inept Management, Unjustified Price Increases, and Poor Property Conditions We resided in this apartment complex for two years, and during our tenure, the quality of our living experience took a sharp nosedive under the "new" property management, Pillar in addition to rent hikes of over 35% causing us to vacate. This letter outlines a series of issues that have significantly impacted us as tenants: 1.Building Security: For several months, the entrance gates were consistently broken, allowing unrestricted access to the premises. These issues persisted, as maintenance was slow to address them, if at all. This lax security led to incidents such as people living in a car within the complex during the summer of 2022 and multiple vehicle break-ins. Additionally, we reported several non-functional FOB gates, but management deemed repairs "too expensive," rendering them inaccessible. While we lived here garages were also broken into. Apparently it was someone who lived in the building. After we required maintenance on our unit, several times maintenance left our unit unlocked when they left after performing maintenance. 2.The lease agreement stipulates that amenities are "not included." This contradicts the advertised features of the property during the property sales presentation and feels like bait-and-switch advertising. Would anyone choose to pay for "upscale living (per their website)" if the amenities advertised are consistently unable to be used like a pool in summer? For several months the hot tub was out of commission. Took them over 6 weeks to fix this. I also found out that as we were moving out the pool was to be closed for several months of 2023 summer. Were they disclosing this to potential future tenants? Unlikely. Fans in the pool area have been broken since I moved in. Umbrellas were damaged in a storm because of a lack of forethought by management to take them down, and took several months to replace them. The hot tub was constantly over-chlorinated to the point where it was almost hard to breathe, ruined swimsuits, and caused skin irritation. The pool area is dirty with tenants bringing in glass and even a dirty diaper into the area. (See picture) When management was notified about pool rules being broken or saw the rules being broken, they often did nothing. 3.Property Condition: The aging property shows signs of wear and tear, with management opting for cost-saving solutions rather than addressing issues properly. Air conditioning units frequently malfunctioned, causing discomfort for residents. Management's response to concerns about loud, slamming fire doors was inadequate, with repairs repeatedly falling short. 4.Negligence Incident: An incident involving a leak from an upper-floor unit potentially resulted in harm to a neighbor's cat. Management entered the unit without notifying adjacent neighbors or following legal obligations related to notification in similar situations. Neighbors' unit was entered and chemicals were used to remedy the situation. When they returned from vacation the cat was dead. 5.Unjust Carpet Fee: Management attempted to impose an "excessive dirty" carpet fee, despite professional cleaning prior to turnover. The fee was eventually removed under the threat of legal action, highlighting a lack of evidence to support the charge. 6.Exorbitant Rent Increases: Rent was raised by over 35% from 2021 to 2023. While some increase might be reasonable, it is unjustified when the property is deteriorating, and management appears indifferent to addressing concerns. 7.Welfare Checks Responsibility: The building office's failure to address a persistently barking dog, coupled with their reluctance to call for a welfare check which they pushed the responsibility onto other residents to have to call the police; reflects a lack of proactive management and accountability. What are the office staff being paid to do? Residents do not have information on who lives in what unit and which unit the noises were coming from. 8.Mosquito Issue: Excessive watering of the grass between buildings led to a mosquito problem, despite multiple reports to the management. This issue remained unresolved, mirroring the overall lack of proper maintenance. read more

I lived here for a year. And honestly i love the property and the amenities they had to offer. They only down fall would have to be with the staff and maintenance, i had mail delivered from amazon and they disappeared and when i contacted the office there was little to no help on tracking them down. Ounce they managed to find part of package one had been open and the items were left out. The other 2 packages are no were to be found. They rant and rave about their security when you first move in here. But i see now that the issue is in the staff. If you live here i would recommend getting a PO box or sending your mail somewhere a little more secure read more

Wish I could say I love it the way I used too! I've lived in this complex for four years and well, the first year was great. Now going into my fourth year and I've never wanted to get out quicker. Around Christmas 2024, my garage and car was broken into, when I brought this issue down to the office she told me it also happened to someone else but said it's mostly the tenants fault for leaving things "open". I get that but try to give a little security and maybe say we'll try to keep a better watch at night.. Next issue, my toilet wouldn't hold water, went a week without have a running toilet which is actually against the law, and then they proceeded to charge me a $400 water bill while the leaky toilet was broke for five days!! The leasing manger told me I would get this money back to me in a credit on my account. However instead, I was actually charged for the water bill twice because they never took the first posted charge off my account when I paid the first time. This happened in November 2024 it's June 2025 and I still have gotten that money back or even heard an update on what's going on. In fact last I asked I was told to reach out myself to the company if I wanted quicker action! How is it that their mistake of not fixing my toilet is something I am now paying for? Twice? On top of that I've had multiple over charges $75 here, $100 there, on the app used to pay rent and when I mentioned it to the office they said it was fixed while the amount never changed. I then said I want to pay by check and not through the app since the amounts are never correct and I don't feel comfortable overpaying when I know now I won't see a dime of it back! The Office never notices the small mistakes in the amount that they charge. They try to see who will just pay without realizing. After I brought my rent down the next day, they lost my rent check and sent me an email 10 days later that my rent was late and I owed late fees, when they had my rent on their desk days ago!! I had to respond to the email saying I already brought it in DAYS ago!! Yet they are trying to charge me another $150 because they processed it late because they lost it!!! On top of all the robbery and extra money they've gotten from me attempting to just be cooperative, this place is getting very dirty!! We pay almost $2000 for a gated apartment, yet every single gate that leads to the streets in broken and doesn't lock, and has been broken my entirety of living here. There are Cockroaches all over the parking lots, people leaving trash in bushes, hallways smell like dog piss, no one picked up their dogs poop in the dog park, car batteries left in the parking lots, break ins, lots of construction and traffic now in the area, very unfriendly neighbors as of recently and just overall atmosphere and class of the entire complex is really going down hill. This area is booming and there are a lot of nice Luxury apartments already here and being built that charge the same if not a tiny bit more, for a much better place. I would choose ANY other apartment complex in desert ridge besides this one. OH! Let me also mention the company running this complex is lawsuits for the same thing I am going through!!! I would stay farrrrrrrr away!!!!!! This coming from someone who recommended this to everyone when I first moved in! read more

I'm really big on customer service above and beyond anything and I've never been treated so well by a leasing office than I have been with Regina Johnston at 56 North. From the first day I called to the moment we got accepted for our apartment, the process was completely seamless and, for once, enjoyable. I dread looking for apartments and going thru the entire process but Regina made it a breeze she was so excited to help us and show us the property she took tons of time walking us around to a bunch of different models. She was incredibly accommodating and made us feel like we were very important the entire time. She was very upfront and very honest the entire time. Regina adds tremendous value to 56 North, She is one of the many reasons we decided to apply and move in at 56 North! Trust me on this, we have had some pretty bad experiences at apartments much more expensive than this place. The location, value, beauty, quality amenities, and overall experience at 56 North is unmatched I would visit this place First before you waste your time anywhere else. read more

Hey everyone, Moving from Florida by yourself into a town you don't know one bit can be difficult but when I saw 56th online. Allen a few times, then having have moved out here visited the property something about it told me this will be a nice place to break in Arizona for me. Wanna get around town easily? Great you're right by all the highways, no matter which side of the valley you're heading to. I feel safe living here and never have to worry about shady people (neighbors are super nice in my experience) no one's breaking into cars, there's security on every night as an extra measure. There's local shopping down the street for groceries, gas, entertainment (bars, a club or two etc.). This property is in the nicest part of town, very quiet from road and city noise. I personally had no issues with my apartment after a year of living here. I think the only thing I felt with was the sink on the first day wasn't draining all that fast but I called it in to Jayden at the front desk and she had someone come out same day while I was at work and it was as easy as snaking the drain and they even left the snake with me just incase there was any other issues to pop back up. (Never had a problem after that). Customer service 10/10 for me; from answering any questions I have had, to making paying rent easily and effortless. I've read some reviews about how the staff isn't accommodating to the guests walking in as if they're plain just ignoring you.....ummm.... No that's completely opposite... the moment you walk in they're giving a what seems genuine to me kind of energy to make sure you feel welcomed. Jayden will make sure you're completely satisfied and will even follow up with you if she feels as if any issue felt unresolved. For the amenities the pool and hot tub are always clean and wonderful to relax in. Big enough to not feel crowed and for the folks that have been in this complex for a while all seem to have a good time when out there in the weekends. The gym is also in my opinion great it's got what you need with some creativity to your work out. The complex is clean and not grungy looking by any means. If I didn't work 35 mins away I'd continue to live here. Thank you 56th for all that y'all do read more

I have been a resident at the Pillar 56th St. North Apartments for over a year. I can't say enough good things about this community, the staff and the many teams, leasing, maintenance, etc. who are always ready and available to help out, answer questions, doing repairs, keeping the property clean and neat. Most importantly, I love the team here and I feel very safe. Jadyn Gordon, a member of the leasing team, assisted me when I recently made the decision to stay here longer than I had planned. This decision lead me to ask Jadyn to help me find the perfect and larger apartment to transition into. I gave Jadyn a check list with my many needs/wants. Jadyn immediately went to work researching all possibilities for the perfect apartment. Jayden checked all the boxes on my list. She took time to show me several options. When Jadyn said to me "I think I have the perfect place for you", I immediately knew she had really done a lot of work! She was right, my new home is perfect in every way! Jadyn has been quick to respond to any questions I had during and after making this transition. She is always available to take my calls, bring my lost packages and even my keys to me! Always with a smile and "Please let me know if I can do anything for you anytime". Thank you Jadyn for holding my hand and helping me during this transition. You made moving much easier than my last move! Pillar Communities has a shining star on the leasing team at 56th St. North. That star is Jadyn Gordon. Treva B. read more

POOR customer service! Ive been here over 2 years...no issues until recently. I have a neighbor above me who lets here her child run laps around the kitchen for HOURS NIGHTLY! Quiet time starts at 10pm, so I have to listen to a heard of elephants above me for 4-5 hours nightly. This is obviously mot the management's fault. However, what is their fault is not helping a good, reliable resident! I asked to be moved to a new unit of the same floorpan, they could accommodate me. But here's the poor customer service, they want me to pay a higher rate and sign another lease for the exact same layout. Ive already got a lease that ends in 6 months! Why must I sign another one at a. much higher rate? I occupying the exact same square footage!!! read more

THIS COMPLEX AND THE MANAGEMENT IS A JOKE. I have been a resident for over a year, the complex has gone down hill. There is no upkeep. Yet the price continues to increase. There is trash everywhere, the halls are disgusting. If there is any advice I can give you, it would be to lease with a different company. Nothing good to say about them. Save ur time and money, & stay far away. :) read more

Upon walking into the leasing office, we got a unfriendly welcome. (We felt like we were bothering the two ladies that work there) Even though we had an appointment. After that we saw the property and really liked it. We applied paid all the fees. I didn't hear anything .I called in multiple times and sent emails .Finally, I decided to call in and spoke with Jadyn. She said would check out credit right now. I saw it come thru instantly on my Experian account (within a minute). Jadyn called me right back on speaker phone and loudly stated, That she could not rent to us because of a bankruptcy I had over 3 years ago. (Before I was married) I asked if I could get a refund and she said yes. I am still waiting, even though she said she reversed it the same day. 56 north staff, you need to work on your customer service and your delivery of bad news and show compassion. People have hard times, and are not the only property around. Your snobby attitude and rudeness will not get you anywhere. read more

I was looking for a quick move-in after my previous apartment got robbed. I was recommended 56 North by a friend and so far, it's been great. Upon coming in to view the apartments, I was greeted by Jadyn, who was warm and friendly and who has been providing great customer service I moved in, answering all my questions with promptness. The amenities are well-kept, the apartments are nice, and the service is great! No complaints so far! read more

Tough to beat!!! I moved in about 2 months ago and I can honestly say it has been an awesome experience so far and I'm glad I picked 56 North. The office staff were so accommodating and made the move an easy one. It's a great feeling being able to walk into the front office and the staff knows your name and unit number without you reminding them, makes it feel like home! The pool, fitness center, grilling areas, walking trails and all other amenities are top notch! The location is incredible as it is within walking distance to bars, restaurants, and shopping. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone! You won't be disappointed. read more

We were disappointed in our stay at 56 North apartments (managed by Pillar) for a number of reasons. First, the lease agreement is full of fine print items. Please read the lease agreement well because there are plenty of stipulations geared towards the landlord and not for the tenant. The 60-day notice to vacate is a good example. It's completely buried in the fine print of the contract and they do very little to let you know about it. In the end, we paid for an extra month for an empty vacated apartment due the 60-day notice requirement, and all along we were planning on leaving on the last day of our original lease term. So we had to add another 30 days to the term of our lease to meet the 60-day notice requirement. In year 2020 60 days is an eternity to let an apartment complex know that you're not renewing. Plus we got rung up for late charges because our rent wasn't paid one month due to a technicality. Once again they didn't pro-actively notify me. Rather a flyer ended up at our door during that time period when we were not in the apartment for the month. So we never received notice that our payment didn't go thru as expected and our late payments just kept accruing. We only realized there was a problem when we returned to our apartment weeks later to see the flyer they left at our door notifying us of the missed payment. If they had texted me the day the rent was late then I would have resolved it immediately. We also got hit up for $100 extra for an additional fob, and there was a steady stream of maintenance issues related to air conditioning failures, malfunctioning appliances including the toilets multiple times, and a washer/dryer that literally sounded like we were washing concrete (maintenance came literally at least 10 times and had to replace our washer/dryer THREE times). The timeliness in addressing the maintenance requests was OK at best and much of the delay was attributed to COVID-19 (which is the catch-all today for any poor service). We also had a steady stream of cockroaches, spiders, and mosquitoes in our apartment. I suspect their insect control company was probably not working due to COVID-19 as well. In summary, our main issue with 56 North/Pillar was not the insects or the broken appliances but rather the poor communication. Leaving flyers at people's doors was great in 1990. It's not so good in 2020. If there is one piece of advice I can give Pillar, it is to please move to text messaging. I say that because the poor messaging about critical information at 56 North is directly impacting the low score that I'm giving. Desert Ridge has many options for apartment/condo living and I would explore those other options before settling for 56 North. The staff is very friendly and tries to help, but the policies are not geared towards the tenants' benefit. read more

I knew as soon as I walked into the leasing office that this was the place for me. The grounds are spotless, the neighbors are friendly, the amenities are great, and the staff is spectacular!! They are completely transparent during the leasing process and are so eager to answer any question you have, even if you're like me and it seems like you walk into the office three times a week. My dog loves the little dog park inside the complex and I've only seen well-behaved dogs walking around with caring owners in tow. Even during the recent repaving of the parking lot, plenty of notice was given and the whole process was easy and over in a flash. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for affordable luxury. It's by far the nicest apartment I've ever lived in and I love it!! read more

I lived at another Pillar property recently and transferred over to 56 North about a year ago. The whole staff here from Lisa to Jadyn to Megan has been awesome and have taken care of me even when I am away for personal or business reasons. They are polite, professional and flexible - everything you would want in stewards of a high market residential community. Bravo. Any day enough good things about these folks! read more

Pro: 1. Location Cons: 1. Zero customer service skills 2. Not all apartments look like the models 3. They don't offer valet recycling. They offer valet trash. Know what that does? Causes everyone to throw their recycling in the regular trash. 4. Some buildings don't have elevators. 5. Unanswered calls/emails. There's plenty of other apartments in the area, go somewhere you're wanted and respected. read more

I'm honestly very disappointed with the customer service received at this property. On two separate occasions my spouse and I called the apartment inquiring about the prices and costs. Once we spoke with Marie and another time we spoke with Regina. We were so excited about this property and the other reviews we had seen online but both occasions came up short. It felt like we were a bother asking them questions about specific units and the price break downs. And after requesting emails hoping to get information and a price breakdown, we received emails that seemed to be auto-populated with none of the information we had to squeeze out of them over the phone. Very sad when we were so, so excited about the property. I don't think it should be too much to make sure we have the proper information, especially during this challenging time of not be able to see units or speak to people face to face. Both of us are in the customer service industry and we know how people should be treated when they're just trying to ask simple questions. The way we were treated by Marie and Regina was not how one should be treated. read more

***MUST READ BEFORE LEASING*** What an abysmal experience attempting to lease from this community, my only saving grace is that I'm NOT living there. We had secured this apartment after a belaboring process of back and forth with the leasing office, my significant other and I were moving from out of state and were unable to visit the property to sign our lease in person. After we had secured electricity through APS, renters insurance, and had our mail forwarded to this property we were told the day prior to move in that our apartment would not be ready due to a weather related issue and that our roof was damaged. What was offered to us? Nothing. 12 hours prior to move in we were told that our only option was to move into their sister community and that we could move back afterward. So you expected us to live in an unfurnished apartment, without being able to have it furnished and then move back to our original apartment...all while paying our rent in full? C'mon. I said that this was incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable: their response was to simply "take it or leave it." Key words to know before leasing from this community and dealing with their office staff: unprofessional, untruthful, incompetent, disrespectful, unintelligent. I bet they couldn't spell customer service if they were asked to do so. Thanks for allowing us the privilege of escaping from this lease, it was the best thing you could have done for us. read more

Deceitful and Shady apartment complex. We have lived here for almost 4 years. We had spoken to management about ending our lease early. They were helpful and informative about process. We followed their guidelines and found a resident who ALREADY lives in this complex to transfer and take our lease, which is exactly what Pillar had explained and instructed us to do. This resident was paying more for her lease (compared to ours) and when we tried to finalize this move with management they were going to no longer honor this transfer because they would loose out on money. They not only scammed our family but the other resident and her family as well. This is unacceptable and horrible management. read more

I moved in sight unseen in August 2020 from Missouri and Regina made it such a wonderful experience! She answered all of my preliminary questions before I made the choice and helped me pick just the right unit for what I needed. I couldn't be happier! If you are ever in doubt, like some comments on these review, please contact an attorney to explain everything to you. I found everything to be clear and transparent. The pool and gym is resort-like and very enjoyable. They clean the walkways regularly and the elevator is always in working order. The trash valet is wonderful!! I have submitted 3 work oreders and my minor issues were repaired within the week. I love it here! read more

I have lived here for over a year and was very pleased at first, until I started having to make maintenance requests. (If you are lucky enough to have someone answer the phone). It took the company over a week to fix my AC, stating it was not considered an emergency unless it was over 100 degrees out outside although it was 87 degrees in my apt. Currently, my washer does not drain all the water out leaving my clothes smelling disgusting and am needing to dry them for 3+ HOURS!! I am a nurse and need to wash my scrubs and and they do not understand the urgency with this. Very frustrating being a tenant here at times. read more

I just moved into 56N from another Pillar property. Lisa the property manager and her staff Kyle and Nick, and Angel the chief of maintenance have made me feel welcome from Day One. Lisa works harder than any property manager I have ever encountered. The basically New York-style loft apartment - which I got for a great price - has vaulted ceilings and is huge! Best apartment I've ever had - by far. Great place to live as people mind their own business; folks are very friendly around here. The gym is also very nice. Great people, great place. read more

I just want to make it absolutely 100% clear that 56 north apartments AND Pillar are the WORST company to rent from. Starting from the beginning... we started with another leasing company. They were great so we decided to live here. The day we came in to sign our lease it was switched to Pillar. First, they gave us a handicap apartment. Upon realizing that we had a handicapped apartment we were upset and wanted a different unit. It took many..many..many sessions of arguing with the company and finally they let us have a different unit (for a greater price that we did not sign our lease for). They constantly charged us for trash fines. They never EVER answer their phones or voicemails. They came to fix our garage/garage opener and never gave us our opener back. I have called corporate a number of times during the extent of our lease. They never gave us the fob back. After all of that... they are trying to charge us $100 for the key fob they STOLE from us!!! Absolutely ridiculous. They told me they were too busy to do a walk through the day I gave my keys back. Then I get an email for a $450 charge for all new carpet. Keep in mind our carpet was barely even used. It got professionally cleaned 4 times in our year lease to avoid this. If you read all this, I salute you and I urge you to go somewhere else. It is run horribly, extremely over priced, unorganized, and it's not even that nice. Only perk is location. So glad to never have to deal with this company again. Deuces. read more
