However, the issue was not that it did not work in that area. The issue was that it did not work in our turnaround, where there was no filler or area of epoxy. It is fine if you would like to decline business but we initially got no response and then we got the comment from your mother, which was rude. It is unnecessary instead of having an open line of communication with your customers to respond in that way. If you had reached out and said we feel as though doing your driveway again would not be satisfactory to you and then we would probably have a similar problem, we could've had a conversation. Including potentially still wanting to move forward, but not asking you to redo it if it doesn't adhere well in certain areas. I wish I could leave a better review. We had a totally different company quote us for work on our…read morechimney and we were going to go with them, but they weren't responding to us. We needed the work done before the winter. The chimney needed to be rebuilt with flashing, a cap, birdcage, etc from the roof up and we also needed flashing put in. George came over and gave us a quote for half of the work we needed done, saying the rest wasn't necessary and they could do it that same week. I wasn't totally sure bc I am a new homeowner, but he claimed he'd been "doing this for 30 years and knew what he was doing" so who was I to say otherwise. The day came and they did all the work like they said. From looking at it from the ground, it looked nice. We were happy... until we tried to turn on the heat. Thinking our chimney was all good based on what George said, we were shocked when we hired an HVAC guy only for him to tell us our furnace was fine, but our chimney was full of debris and unsafe to use. He pulled out the pipe for us, so I went ahead and cleaned it out myself. The debris was over 8ft high and had broken bricks, not just soot and dust. I called and texted George to come finish the job, but he never responded. Thankfully, our heat worked after I cleaned it out, but we were nervous about the state of the chimney. Finally, the original chimney guys (from the other company) were able to come over and put in a liner, new pipes, etc. They said the job that Bill Miles Masonry did was messy. Even my former landlord said they have a bad reputation when I talked to him about it. The chimney specialists who finished the work said that we likely had carbon monoxide leaking through the chimney into the house based on how bad it was. I wish we had gone with them for the entire project because we ended up losing approximately $1200 by having Bill Miles Masonry come to not do the full amount of work we needed. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. 2 stars because they did fix the top of the chimney, at the very least.

Upfront and in fairness, we took the owner of this business (Donald T. Fay) to Schenectady City…read moresmall claims court and lost after we had hired him in October 2023 for a bathroom remodel. We took him to court on what we believed was a breach of contract, but according to NYS law Mr. Fay didn't write a legitimate contract so it didn't cover us. We learned what he provided, and what we signed, is considered a workmanship agreement. This type of agreement offers virtually no protection for the buyer unless the work is deemed unusable and unsafe. We selected specific tiles we wanted for our bathroom remodel project and Mr. Fay purchased tiles that were close to what we wanted but different brands, sizes, and quality without receiving our approval for the substitution. Mr. Fay lied in court and said that this was our agreement (to get close to what I wanted) despite what he wrote on the agreement we signed. He even provided the receipt of the purchased materials to the Judge which showed he didn't purchase what we asked for. Mr. Fay's workmanship was overall poor. The walls of the shower were out-of-plumb, the grout work shows mortar and tile separator tabs, he did not put in any framing to support a shower door, and the tile cuts he made are unclean. He scratched wood floors and dented walls. Pictures attached for examples of work quality. He tried to take advantage of us by buying cheaper tiles and pocketing the money. He was deceitful when we confronted him, so we fired him and would not let him do any further work. We've lost a significant amount of money in this process as we are having all of his work torn out and redone. Heed our warning and learn from our mistake, unless the contract meets the requirements of the New York State General Business Law you are not protected as a purchaser of services. It was a complete mistake hiring Mr. Fay.

In addition, they leveled out another section of the yard that had uneven grading. From start to finish, Sam and his team were incredibly professional, punctual, and diligent in their work. They took the time to clearly explain every step of the process before beginning the project, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and conducted a complete walk-through upon completion. Their communication and attention to detail were outstanding. Not only did they execute the job flawlessly and ahead of schedule, but they also went above and beyond the agreed scope by seeding grass in all of the disturbed areas--an unexpected and much-appreciated finishing touch. This was easily one of the best contractor experiences I've ever had. I would highly recommend A&S Enterprises for any landscaping, drainage, or patio needs. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.
