There is no denying that the setting here is absolutely gorgeous. The outdoor entertainment area is…read morefabulous, along with the hot tub. However, I had some issues. I booked this venue for my wedding. It wasn't cheap. The manager, Kevin, was pleasant most of the time except when he made a mistake and decided to blame me for it. I had told him all along that we were booking the venue for a wedding and we needed the wedding package. So, the day before my wedding the on-site caretaker calls him because, apparently, he wasn't aware that we had purchased the wedding package and that more than 32 guests would be coming the next day. Clearly, this was an oversight on his part, but he insisted that he would need to be paid more than we had originally agreed on because he didn't remember that I had asked for the wedding package and didn't put that in the contract. To be fair, this miscommunication was partly due to the fact that I had to postpone the wedding for a year (which he allowed provided that someone else reserved it) and the price of the rental went up be in the meantime. Well, you should have said something buddy!

I stayed here as a guest so I'll review from that perspective alone. My friends rented it for a…read morewedding and they had some issues with the reservation and cost, but they can write about that if they choose. The lodge sleeps 32. We were in a cabin with our friends; they took the full bed, my husband and I each got a bed and I think the couch was a fold out bed too. There is a curtain between the full bed and the two beds in the alcove. The sheets were soft, the towels clean, the mini fridge and microwave worked, so no problems. The bathroom is old and the fan sounds like a train, everybody woke up whenever anybody got up to pee at night due to the fan noise. Be careful with the teak mats; they are HUGE and easy to trip over. The bathroom drawers weren't on sliders and fell out any time they were pulled out too far. There isn't much light in the room. Big closet and nice hangers helped with all our wedding finery. Shoes off inside requested, which is how we live so that wasn't a problem. We were in the cowboy cabin. The art above the toilet is absolutely frightening. Cowboy and horse plunging to their deaths, hanging on by a mere thread (or cow) to life. Yuck. Gave me nightmares. We were awoken on Sunday to a dog barking INCESSANTLY starting at 530 am. We tried to go back to sleep. We bugged out at 630 am since we were all awake. The dog was still barking when we left. There is a main cabin with dishwasher, washer and dryer (the dryer doesn't work well and would randomly be hard to start or turn itself off), stoves, lots of plates, cups, etc. There are at least 6 jars of cinnamon but no hot sauce. You really don't need to bring anything but booze and food. There's an outside kitchen too and lots of pans, baking sheets, utensils. It's hard to find everything you need at first but eventually it's all gathered. The cookware wasn't really clean, we had to wash everything before using and we washed it after using but it remained slightly sticky, I think just from a lot of use. There's a TV in the outside kitchen. The main lodge has a TV upstairs for movies, game stations, a tiny gym, a little office. What the place doesn't have is wifi or cell service. Sure, they say there is wifi but it doesn't work. Its sooooo slow, the more people using it the slower it gets, and towards the end of the stay it was completely unusable. Just assume you wont have wifi or internet or cell phones there. It's a retreat from technology. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. Both looked fine. Kids used them and enjoyed them. Our stay was completely comfortable. If you are looking for a rustic wedding, where your guests and family can just hang out and cook, or a company retreat but don't need technology, it's a great place. It is hard to find. When you pass the Tenaway River sign GO SLOW, it will be on your right, around a bend. You'll miss it the first time, there's a turn around about half a mile further on your right.

Incredible......Every minute of our 2 day stay was absolutely incredible…read more To be fair, we are normal everday middle class people, so it doesn't take much to exceed expectations. We arrived & the valet guy was incredibly helpful with the check-in process & transporting our bags to the room. The property is beautiful and our room with hot tub was impressive. The Source bar within the hotel has great drinks & food, but the service staff was the best I've ever had anywhere. The bartender, she made the drinks strong enough that it felt worth the cost (which I was greatful for) and made them sweeter when I needed them to be. The waiter Mason........ literally the best waiter I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. Just attentive enough to feel taken care of, but not so much to be annoying, he was also training a new employee and was doing a fantastic job from what i was seeing. Explaining the job to such a degree of understanding that I only wish every restaurant had a "Mason" to train new employees. I want to give 3 Gold stars to the chef for the perfectly cooked lobster and shrimp mac. Im no pro, but I know how hard it is to cook lobster & shrimp to perfection thanks to the Food Network and the perfectly Al Dente bucatini with marsala mushrooms were sauted to ultimate tastiness. It's been a long time since we've had a meal that well cooked & it was delicious. Day 2, My husband & I had couples massage & facial at The Glade. Emily & Hailey were absolutely amazing massage therapist, they both listened to our needs in detail & they were executed to absolute perfection. Not once, did I need to tell her softer or harder and I have a severely broken foot i had surgery on 6wks ago. Every move she made, was made with my absolute comfort & relaxation in mind. Conversion was easy & relaxed, it felt like we've known them both for years. I would suggest that management consider Hailey's ideas in adding soundbath therapies. That would have made an incredible experience that much better. After our massage, I had a facial with Abby. She as well, listened to my needs and gave me the most spectacular & soothing facial with an equally easy & relaxed conversation. It felt wonderful to be taken care of to such a degree. The oxygenating fizzofoliant was so wonderfully bizarre that I purchased a bottle for myself. We had dinner reservations made a few minutes down the road so we were given shuttle service by Doyle, a hilariously quirky lovely older gentleman that played the best music for our 5 minute trip and Ben who jumped in to pick us up after dinner when Doyle was busy shutting other guests. The food at The Stovehouse was incredibly delicious, the tortilla chips were freshly made & perfectly crisp, the salsa had just the right amount chunk to sauce to heat & the guacamole was so good it had to be handmade. Clearly by someone who has a 100 year old family guacamole recipe running through their veins. The tuna was perfectly seared and the greens fresh & crisp, but again, our server Brennan was just as fantastic as we had at The source. He was perfectly attentive without feeling overwhelming & was incredibly helpful with a few silly requests that I had. All the staff seemed genuinely happy and content to work there, not a single word or action felt forced or even only nice because they were being paid to as part of the job. I really hope they're paid well, because Suncadia hit the jackpot with all of them. The only complaints we could nit pick about was that with my broken foot I wasn't able to take the 1,000 steps down to the river, the coffee shop doesn't open until 7am & The Glade could use a cold plunge pool for the people who like to use the mineral pools & sauna for long periods of time. I only wish that we could afford to come here again. Ive literally never felt this relax and well cared for by everyone at Suncadia.

Haven't played golf there yet but would love to and heard good things. Definitely on the expensive side if looking at pricing.
