This is one of my most favorite places!!…read more I've been a member at Edge Body for years now. It all started at their old Hikes Point location with a 6 week Groupon and I was hooked. The current location is awesome... so spacious with so much equipment. Everyone is friendly and the staff is always so helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable, and will challenge you if need be. I've made several friends there as well, where we will hold each other accountable which also motivates you to keep going. Each day is a different designed workout for specific areas of the body with music playing through their systems. It's nice to not have to think about what you need to do at the gym that day or design your own workout or even try to push yourself. It's all there for you! They even have heart monitors you can check out/wear to track your heart rate and calories. The workouts: Sunday is core, Monday is total body, Tuesday is lower body, Wednesday is core & cardio, Thursday is upper body, Friday is a challenge day that will work your whole body, and Saturday offers an Advanced Camp, Yoga, and a free (with the donation of a canned good) :45 total body workout for anyone (that means non-members too). That free workout is called Get Fit Give Back. All the canned goods are then donated to Dare to Care. I love that they give back. The work outs are in :30 increments which helps members to stagger their start times. However, if you put two :30 workouts back to back, the hour will be all different... and then it will start over. The trainers will also help you meal plan, offer nutrition classes, track your progress, etc... whatever it will take to help you succeed.

They don't have lots of fancy machines, they don't have any mirrors - what they do have is a system that works. I lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks, my daughter lost 15 pounds and my wife lost 20 as well! The results are not just about weight - they are about changing the way you look at almost everything! My cardio and my attitude and my energy level have increased dramatically thanks to NGPT! You also need to know that every team member was also a customer first! Trish is one of the most inspirational coaches I have ever met - and she lost over 180 pounds doing the program. ' Their board of people who have lost 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, etc pounds is amazing and TRUE! If you are ready to make a real change in your life, NGPT is the place to begin the journey!

I know several people have come here and lost some serious weight.... it isn't surprising given how…read moresupportive NGPT is. I began taking classes here to get off campus and get some exercise in (graduate school hasn't been so kind to my previous active lifestyle). After coming here I ended up finding community outside of graduate school that was health conscious and motivated. I lost a few pounds, and gained some serious strength. I'm not going to lie; getting motivated to hit the gym at the end of a stressful day is hard, but knowing that I've got a supportive crew waiting for me at the gym certainly helps. BONUSES: 1) Online scheduling: Helps keep class sizes under check and ensures that I hit the gym when I say I will. 2) Cool people: I was afraid I'd run into the classic 'jock' types but this is far from the case. The people who come here are personable and fun to be around. 3) Inspiration: So many people have lost weight and have managed to keep it off. If they can do it; I can keep a healthy lifestyle too! 4) TRX: Seriously the coolest workout thing ever. 5) Functional training: Since working out here I've noticed my day-to-day activity/energy has improved immensely; something I haven't been able to recreate from traditional gym workouts. DOWNSIDES: 1) Music: I get tired of listening to the same music at EVERY workout. In class you are guaranteed to be listening to repeat playlists of either classic rock, funk, random 80's beats, or uber hyped up pop music. It is tolerable the first 10 classes... then it gets old. Perhaps they could sync Spotify/Grooveshark/Pandora or something to vary it up a bit. 2) Equipment: The mats used for classes are old and beat up, but this isn't such a big deal if you bring your own. 3) Wish there were more late night classes (lately they've been getting better about changing the schedule up and adding in new ones) If you are looking to become more active, shed a few pounds, find some cool friends, or need an outlet to stay sane this place is the jam!

Ok now that I got all the preliminaries out the way, lets start the real review... its beast mode for 45 minutes! The trainers are realy great! Demarcus tends to meet you where you are while pushing you just a little further. Its hard work, I won't lie, but it is worth it. I am one of those people who hates (I mean really HATES) to exercise. But the people here are encouraging!!! Not only is there a trainer pushing you, but you are pushing each other!!! Ok so since I have been here, we switch it up a little. We tend to have a couple "stations" going, one of the stations is considered the "timer". (i.e. suicides or the tire flip) We rotate stations. I have been buddied up and I have been by myself... it depends... there is always something new everytime I walk in. I have been for about 6 weeks now, and I am adding a second day... I have seen improvement in my stamina, I am goign to keep pushing myself! I need this!
