I usually end up getting TOA taxis because you can flag them down at the last minute. But I can report Southside Cars gave me and my boyfriend amazing service! Their number is displayed within Ikea's exit hall so they are used to doing pick ups which require a bit of lifting. Not only were they efficient but we were lucky enough to get one of the most friendly and entertaining taxi drivers I've had in ages, who was telling us all about his adventures. He also helped me lift my flat packed goodies out to my door, and all for under a tenner! I stay on the north side of the city so I don't usually call this company since they'd have a long way to go. But from what I gather they don't seem to mind travelling for a hire, and seem to jump at the chance of going a fair distance in the car. Really good service that was above par, and the best service I've had from a private taxi company!

Stephen at Braehead kept in touch with me, as they also couldn't contact my husband about his ride. I was anxious, and panicked. It helped to be in contact with someone, anyone -- in Glasgow. And, these guys were patient. Thanks for not canceling the ride. When I finally heard from my husband and got him the info to meet his ride at Point B at the airport, I was so relieved. THE BEST THING (!!!) - Stephen emailed me again - and told me that the driver had my husband, and they were on their way. NOW WHO DOES THAT? Thank you for waking us and our 7 months old baby up, we love sleepless nights. I've asked my neighbour in the morning what happened and apparently they wanted to charge him with 10% extra for card payments and was then on the phone to the company which the whole street could here. I mean, why would you think that people want to sleep at 5am?! Definitely not a taxi recommended for quiet residential areas! And thank you for a sleepless night.

Firstly, I had an issue with the app. I booked the taxi but I couldn't see the tracking of the taxi to arrive, which was a little frustrating. When the taxi arrived it was because there was something wrong with his system, and he phoned into HQ on loudspeaker while I was in the car and then I needed to give him directions some of the way. I also didn't love his driving style as it made me a little nervous. They're clearly trying to offer a premium service vs Eastwood Mearns taxis, with water in the car and free wifi. The price was very cheap as well, £5.50 compared to £7 for a taxi from Newton Mearns to Clarkston. Maybe I just had a less-than-perfect experience but I think I will probably stick with Eastwood Mearns as I've always been pleased with their service.

The man on the phone told me the driver had been cancelled as he didn't want to take the dog (why pick up the job in the first place then?) I told the man on the phone to just cancel the job and I would try with a different company, he misheard me and thought I said I'd get a decent company, when I tried to rectify the mistake he was rude to me and hung up on me. They're operators can also be a tiny bit arsey if you call back to check when your cab is on the way, and they don't send a handy text when your car is on the way either. That said, nine out of ten journeys with Hampden go swimingly, and I recently had a driver who gave some intelligent, culturally minded chat, rather than the tired "send 'em all back" monologue you often expect. Not my first choice cab firm, but still four stars.
