Larry is great, reliable, and ensures his work. He's fixed a few things on my condo both inside the condo and outside work as well. His prices are very reasonable & he doesn't over charge and is very honest unlike some maintenance men I've come across in the past, I always refer him to friends and family because he's professional and do great work. Great custer services and good workmanship. I had to have the ceiling fixed on my rental to due a small fire in the bathroom from the exhaust fan and the Fire Dept openned the ceiling to check. I needed a handyman for a property located in Stockton. I went on Yelp & noticed all the positive feedback for 5Star Handyman. I texted them & asked if they worked just in the Modesto area or would come farther? They said they occasionally worked Stockton & set up a Saturday appointment. Larry showed up to take a look at the various projects & said the commute from Modesto would be no problem. He said he wanted the job & would have a quote back to us in 2--3 days. That was 2 weeks ago. We waited a week to get Larry to come and take a look at the house & 2 weeks for a quote that never came. All in all, 3 weeks was wasted waiting on Larry. All texts & calls have gone unanswered & it looks like we've been "ghosted." I hired Larry from 5 Star handyman to remove the carpet from my livingroom/diningroom and put in a wood laminate flooring and he did a great job, was timely and stayed within the budget. Because Yelp reviews helped me select this handyman service, I'd like to pay it forward. We bought a new condo and I had a few things I wanted done before we moved in. Well a few things turned into a few more things and so on. During the process the Larrys (Father and son) were so professional and easy to work with. They take pride in their work, they want you to be happy and they are beyond fair in their quotes. I'm going to attempt to list all the work they completed for me, but I may miss something. Removed carpet, removed old laminate, installed approx. 700 sq feet of laminate, relocated light fixtures, installed two ceiling fans (one on a vaulted 15 foot ceiling), customized cabinetry to fit new fridge, installed garage shelving and organization units including a peg board, mounted bike racks, removed a huge mirror over the fireplace, mounted flat panel above fireplace, refinished a brass fireplace to a more modern look, leveled a crooked step platform, installed new electronic door locks on home and garage, installed new outdoor lighting, installed new door kick plates, redid the shower plumbing, tons of touch up painting and hung an oversized mirror in my stair landing. Saw good reviews so I called and setup an appointment for an estimate. Had some drywall work for the kitchen. He came in on a Saturday and reviewed the work. I also requested an additional estimate on a separate job. He sayed my estimate would be ready later in the afternoon or the following day. No response until I emailed him on Tuesday. He responded with a family emergency and would get back to me in the evening. I respect when a family emergency occurs so I let it go. No response as of today. This pushed my repair further than I wanted. I have had very bad luck getting someone in the modesto area to return a phone call. I don't like leaving negative reviews but not responding to someone that needs repairs and is serious about getting it done is a red flag and unacceptable. read more
