Best food truck in LA! Seriously. I had never had 5 Elementos, but came across them when researching possible catering options for my wedding. We had about 100 guests with varying dietary restrictions including gluten free, vegetarian, and pescatarian. Finding a solution that was also cost efficient was difficult UNTIL I found 5 Elementos!! Jeries runs the business and as soon as we inquired I knew we found our guy. He was very communicative about logistics and worked with our Wedding Day of Coordinator team to come early as to not distract once the Ceremony started. I think this is important because we had them booked on Cinco de Mayo so their schedule was absolutely packed that day. Jeries knew I was also stressed over the presentation of the food in terms of plates so they got the most adorable "boats" to serve the bowls in and I could not have been happier. In terms of the food - OUTSTANDING! All of their menu is built to be gluten free & vegan to start and then you can add on proteins or non-vegan cheese. Personally I don't have any dietary restrictions, but everyone who did told me the food was really really good and made our wedding a hit. During the wedding I ate the Fajita Bowl w/ Chicken Al Pastor and my husband had the Shrimp tacos. Both were amazing and I wish I had had more time to try everything else haha Luckily, we ran into Jeries and the 5 Elementos team 2 weeks after our wedding by luck! He instantly remembered us and gave us a warm welcome :) During this time I got to catch up on all the other food they had to offer and actually sit down to enjoy it all without entertaining during the wedding. The food was just as good as I remembered it and even better! My husband also tried the Fuego Salsa they offer and let me tell you - it does NOT mess around. You've been warned - fuego does in fact mean HOT! He seemed to enjoy insulting me by accusing me of calling all the time, but I had never received an answer to my question --until finally today I was able to get a simple answer. Seen this truck at a music festival 2 nights ago, I've seen them at other events & my co worker came back with a burrito at first so I was excited to try. When I first approached the window I noticed none of the staff spoke english, which is fine for a Mexican food spot, I had one of my other co workers translate. Mind you, all my other co workers are Mexican, I'm the only African American on my team. So I let all my coworkers get their food before me and eat, while I took my lunch last to eat. All my coworkers workers ordered big burritos, but I knew I wasn't going to finish it, so I ordered Carna asada fries instead. When I got the fries, I noticed the Carna asada tasted weird, before this experience I ate Mexican food all the time and I KNOW how it's supposed to taste, but I was hungry so I just ate the fries and got back to work. I should mention I was intermediate fasting as well, so the fries were all I ate all day. So hours go by and the festival finally ends, I'm driving home and I notice my stomach is cramping, I just thought I had to take a big poop. By the time I got home and finally used the restroom, I had diarrhea. I didn't think too much on it besides not eating greasy like that for a week or so. But then I had to use the bathroom again 15-20 mins later, and then used it again another 15 mins later, I knew something was up. I tried to go to bed after the 3rd trip to the bathroom and I woke up vomiting. That whole night I was I switching from vomiting to sitting on the toilet with diarrhea. I ended up going to urgent care yesterday afternoon to be told I have a bad case of food poisoning. I just find it funny how all my MEXICAN co workers who speak Spanish had no problems with their food, but me, the ONLY BLACK person on my team was served contaminated food.
