Just got my statement, and this location charged my card $7.00, nearly a 50% increase. Now at NO TIME did they mentioned any fees for card use. Some "military issued" items are sold here, but it's mostly tactical aftermarket type items that won't be found in your normal MCAS (Military Clothing and Sales). Anyways, THIS guy has a Bataan Death March coming up, so I'm here for special boots and socks so I can break them in prior to this monster of a task. Great, love that for me. I show up at 0900 sharp, motivated and ready. There's a sign out front saying the entrance is at Building 807 . Cool, follow the arrow. Walk down the road: 808...809...810...814...815...816...still no 807. Look left, look right--801, 802, 803, 804. Guess what? Still no 807. We finally take a gamble on an open door. Walk in like it's a speakeasy. "Is this the entrance?" The guy says "yes, what can I do for you?" The building is literally 808, not 807. Already off to a strong start. I say, "we need IFAKs." He gives me the classic CIF side-eye and goes, "hmm okay, come with me." Leads me straight to the IFAK station, I'm literally standing in front of the gear I need, and he says, "walk-ins start at 1230, come back then." Sir??? The IFAKs are right there. Why do I feel like I'm in an Army escape room? He even tells another worker, "remember their faces, they'll be back at 1230." Okay, whatever, I'll play this clown show. Fast-forward, it's 1210. I'm standing in line listening to every person get asked, "Do you have an appointment?" and every person respond, "No." Spoiler: the line doesn't move. Then a new guy strolls up, asks what I need. I say "IFAKs." He hits me with, "We don't have any," and just walks away. Excuse me?? I'm flabbergasted, jaw on the floor. I push back: "Sir, we were here at 9 this morning, they showed us the IFAKs, they said 1230." He's like, "hmm who said that?" I tell him it was another short man in a gray shirt. He disappears, comes back, and suddenly it's, "you're lucky, I have 3." Lucky?? My brother in Christ, you had them the whole time. It's now 1330 and I'm still standing here, still waiting on an IFAK, and the line has not moved an inch. Moral of the story: CIF Fort Bliss is a mythical labyrinth where time doesn't exist, rules change every 20 minutes, and the only way to succeed is sheer dumb luck. Would I recommend? Only if you enjoy being gaslit by supply clerks.

In fact, it probably was one of the best equipment turn-ins I ever experienced during my 22+ year service--I must've gone through at least eight CIFs during that time. If you include RFI draws, I've gone through more than 10 times of draws and turn-ins. I called last week to make an appointment suggested by my transition counselor. The lady who answered the phone scheduled me right away and told me to stop by and pick a sorting instruction sheet up which I gladly did--and I was so glad I did for it prepared me for a great experience. I arranged my equipment in a shopping cart according to the order of turn-in stations before entering the building per instructions. This definitely made the process to go very smoothly. As I proceeded to each station (altogether seven), I handed over items as a station worker called out each item. I repeated that several times before I reached the end of the line. I was even able to skip a station since I didn't have anything to turn in there. I received my paperwork of completion at the end (Final Out Station). I was so grateful I wasn't missing any item I had to turn in because if I were missing anything I would be financially liable for any missing items. It felt so good to finally turn all my equipment in after hauling them around from installation to installation (literally around the world) all these years! It was another significant mile marker in my Army experience, and it was a good one!

Okay so I have some mixed feeling about this place…read more It's the home of the $10 FFL. That's about as low as it gets this side of El Paso. Some places go $40, some go $50 and go lower with each transfer. This place is $10 always. It's a small shop, but, though I haven't seen it, they have a warehouse with a lot of stuff. Guns, military surplus, a grownup's toy store. Dave, the older of the two gentlemen I've seen behind the counter, likes to say they pay out more for surplus than GI supply but also sell for less. So you guys trying to clear CIF, or sell extra after CIF, this is a good spot. Now the bad, and there isn't much, at least not in my eyes. If you want to stop by for a browsing look-see, it's a bit of a gamble. The guys tend to go to gun shows or trade shows or the like pretty often, so you'd be best off calling ahead and making an appointment. And be specific. They're usually pretty accommodating but, well don't go by the posted hours too closely.

It ranges from guns/rifles to antinques to outdoor gear with a few military goods too. My husband has been wishing for this spot to open for a good while now, possibly months. Now that we finally checked it out, he wishes he held off on purchasing a case for his rifle. He coulda gotten a better deal at this place! Plus they offered so many good choices! I especially liked how they don't just choose any antiques to sell. Their aim seems to be for more class along with longevity which promises a good investment of your money. Like a wine rack made of horse shoes. Need!!! They like to put up a few good antiques for just decorating purposes but not for selling. My husband saw some gorgeous, huge artillery shells and he wanted them so bad! The place is set up really well and the guy who owns it is super friendly and very open minded for a business proposal. We just love it already and cant wait to visit again! I may walk away with a horse shoe wine rack too next time lol

And if you're a shop-o-holic (or even a window shop-o-holic) and your not shopping at boutiques, you're doing it wrong. Get your butt down to Mesa and start your shopping journey at V&X! V&X is such a cool space. Women's on the left, men's on the right and two black sleek chairs in the middle in front of the table with accessories. They have a great selection for women and it seems as though they only purchase one in each size (small, medium and large only) for each shirt, blouse and dress. There are a few other boutiques in town with the same buying tactics and even though it's totally depressing when you find something super cute, but not in your size...I'd rather know that I won't run into 20 other chicks at the Garden with the exact same dress and it's a plus that this allow stores to bring in more mech sooner. Pricing is totally affordable. I bought a color block dress for $38, an infinity ring for $5 and a double ring for $8. And those prices are full price, so when stuff goes on sale or they have discounts I already know where I'm spending my paycheck. Oh ya, and get the frequent shopper card, every other purchase is discounted.
