What they have on offer, from combination chow mein to laksa and fried rice, is available virtually anywhere in Canberra. The food are cooked well, mind you, but there is no defining dish (or reason for you to travel here) for this restaurant that you can not find elsewhere. Which is a little sad because they have called themselves a Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant but has nothing that differentiate it much from other "Asian restaurants". Prices are all right and they do takeaways as well. One of those restaurants where only if you are nearby and you want Asian food, you can visit but there's more choices within a 5 minute drive. Service: Very friendly and prompt service :) Atmosphere: Both times I went were during weekdays, it was quiet and comfortable. No blaring music nor tight spaces and the staffs don't hurry you along when you are eating.

Being seated in the lower area and dining surrounded by books was lovely. The food itself was not as good as to be expected. It is (or as visible to my family and I) an all day breakfast cafe which was unexpected, but we didn't mind having brunch. The food was not to taste and I personally found the eggs Benedict quite disappointing (far too much meat, of high quality, and the sriracha hollandaise was foamy and tasteless). The big breakfast is good value, however the smaller items appear overpriced for the quality level. No doubt the coffee is amazing as this place is so popular, but I can't recommend paying for the food here. Definitely a place to sit and enjoy coffee in this cafe, however that being said the cafe wasn't very full when I dined here so when noise levels increase it's peaceful appeal would greatly lessen. As a young woman going out to cafe there are quieter places to eat with better food while being surrounded by books.

We gave Global Café and Bar a loving 4.5 stars!!…read more Global Café and Bar is an Ethiopian restaurant right next to the Jolimont Interchange. My girlfriend and I love going there since the curries are amazing and the staff is super friendly! Most of the people who go to this restaurant are public servants that work nearby, but you should definitely go there and try it out as well. The restaurant is run by a really nice Ethiopian family, and if you go there for dinner you might get a chance to see the two kids of the owner who are (like us) broad-grinning Star Wars fans. Food (1.5/2): The restaurant gives you a choice of two curries which you can accompany with either rice or a traditional Ethiopian sour bread. Each curry is based on a main ingredient (chicken, beef, lentils, etc.) and they have several vegetarian options. We like accompanying our curries with the bread - it kinda looks like a pancake - because it is more exciting than the rice. All the curries we have tried have been excellent, I think the lentil flavour is the best. The only reason we didn't give them the full 2 stars for the food is because they always have the same options, which can become a little bit repetitive. Ambiance (1/1): Even though the restaurant doesn't look very fancy, it is easy to tell that the Ethiopian family that runs it has put a lot of effort into it. It is always clean and homey, and the owner - who runs it - is always happy to talk to the customers. Service (1/1): The food is delivered quickly and efficiently. As I said, the owner is super friendly and is always smiling; so don't be shy, talk to her if you don't know what to order. Other stuff (1/1): Global Café also has a small set of Ethiopian beers, which are worth trying out. I mean, how often can one have Ethiopian beer? The outside of the café doesn't look like much, but don't be put off by this and go in for an interesting meal. Oh I also forgot to mention that it is super cheap, I think the last time we went meals were only $8.50. So why does it say 5 if we gave it a 4.5 (we usually give it a 4 if we think it's a 4.5).. Well, we think this place deserves more attention than what it gets. So if you feel like having something different, why not go and try it out?
