Stopped in quickly for a latte, ended up leaving with super tasty (def not macro friendly) donuts. I wish I took a pic bc they were huge and dense & so good. We were all joking about how donuts are good for the spirit therefore they clearly aren't bad for the body haha. Definitely got reminded that there's a reason donuts and coffee go together. So yum. Really cute interior too and was super busy, love the colors and the logo.

4.5 stars for a cute cafe with good coffee and pastries! Prices are fair too. I liked the coffee but the main shout out is to the donuts! I'm not a huge donut person but surprisingly I really liked these. The dough was very light and fluffy. I really liked the coffee crunch/cake one and the strawberry jam filled one (although I would've preferred powdered sugar over white sugar that was on the outside). Anyway if you're in the area, give this place a try!

Busy morning in Montreal, but the service and quality did not disappoint. I got a donut as well as hot chocolate and if was amazing. The hot chocolate even had a design and were served in cups. I honestly really liked the vibe: it was definitely very chill. Great food and choices making breakfast available on the go.

My favorite was the lemon meringue!

We loved the lattes and donuts and croissants while visiting! It became a ritual for the week. Great ambiance for a brief visit or coming to study or work. Folks working there were friendly as well.

Lucky's Doughnuts (PB&J, Fruit Crueller) with a Coffee and Iced Americano

Walked by the night before and I was intrigued by this place. The decor inside is really nice; it's chic with gold chairs, green walls and marble tables, but there's also portraits of people like James Dean with tattoos that adds the 'cool' vibe. On a weekday morning, there was a mix of people from locals to tourists. We tried the iced Americano, hot Americano along with their doughnuts. 49th is a brand from BC with their first outside-of-province shop in Montreal. The doughnuts are from Lucky Doughnuts, which is another brand from BC as well. PB & Jam was probably my favourite in comparison to the Fruit Crueller; however, both were very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. As we ordered the doughnuts from one person, there was another staff person listening and packing it up for us. For our drinks, we just walked over to the espresso bar and they were ready soon after considering there were many people in front of us ordering drinks. This is a great place for a quick breakfast, a work session, or meeting with friends. The shop is quite large with a lot of seating. And the big windows brings a lot of natural light into the coffee shop along with a nice view of McGill Street. Good for: coffee/tea, doughnuts, scones

A good cafe with decent coffee and posh and creative donuts. I would give the coffee 3 stars (a little bitter) but the ambiance, selection and everything else 4.5. Nice place to work with a ton of space and wifi though it does get a bit crowded.

I just popped in for a donut and it was so light and moist, highly recommend!! Service was very kind and vibe was typical coffee shop and lively!

We hadn't heard of 49th Parallel before stumbling across it yesterday as we were walking back from Old Montréal. We were in the mood for a drink, so we decided to stop in. There was a long line-up, so we figured we were in for something tasty and we weren't wrong. We ordered an iced Venezuelan coffee, an iced mocha and a raspberry filled doughnut. The mocha was just perfect with not too much sweetness and a lovely espresso flavour. I'd never tried a Venezuelan coffee before and it was a delight. It was a bit sweet, but I'm okay with that and it almost tasted 'caramelly'. The doughnut had a nice, yeasty flavour and was filled with what tasted like a homemade raspberry coulis. The filling was a little sweet, with a good amount of tartness to balance it. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We would most definitely go back!

I'm a big coffee drinker and for a while now I had been seeing 49th parallel all over the place so on my last day off I decided to stop in. Surprisingly parking was pretty easy to find considering the location. As I walked in the Devore was really well put together. I really appreciated the menu being put up as if it were airport departure info. These donuts are pretty big but that's never stopped me before so naturally I got a box of six. It was hard narrowing it down to six but they ended up being, hibiscus, pudding chomeur, lemon and coconut, peanut butter and jelly, pistachio and jelly filled. These donuts were delicious but I've always preferred cake style doughnuts so the pudding chomeur and hibiscus we're definitely my winner. We also got a chia latte and a cold brew both of which were tasty and super balanced there's a variety of doughnuts , coffee or tea based drink you can even take home your own coffee beans to get the same flavours at home!! You gotta stop in here

Stumbled across this charming and modern cafe when looking for a quick snack after exploring Montreal. Had the pistachio ring doughnut, which was fresh and delicious. Would definitely get it again! Also wanted a vanilla latte, which they didn't have, so the cashier suggested the Venezuelan (caramel latte with espresso shot) and it was so thick and creamy. Did not disappoint!

    Great chai latté!!

49th Parallel is a super cute cozy coffee shop on McGill, near Square Victoria metro. Staff there are super nice, they make BOMB chai latte and their donuts selection keep changing!! Their donuts are on the pricier end I'd say, it's super worth it if you get those filled donuts, otherwise I personally get disappointed over ordering a cold normal donut for 4$, but that's maybe just me and has only happened once so far... Heads up - it gets real busy on weekend (particularly on late Sundays afternoon) and may be harder to find a spot to sit. The vibe on the other hand is amazing!

Great donuts/scones with a stylish-feeling ambiance. I love non-conventional donut flavors. So far my favorite was the lemon filled with blueberry. Super fresh and summery! The pouding chomeur was also tasty. I've had a chai latte and I like that it's not too sweet but well-spiced. The main obvious thing is that it's quite expensive. One donut for $4 is pretty steep, although they are quite large and most things in this area are expensive. Not a place I could/should visit every day, but every once in a while it's nice for a treat.

It smelt like really good coffee, but I was really in the mood for hot chocolate. You know how it is, super cold outside... You just need it. And it was so disappointing. Definitely made from some cheap chocolate powder with way too much milk, and it wasn't even that hot. It hardly even tasted of chocolate. Really disappointing and definitely not worth the $6 for some watered down chocolate with milk.

Very serious coffee…read more If you are a make-your-coffee-at-home kind of person, (I am not), You can buy a dozen or so kinds of beans here. I am guessing they are pretty good. If you are trying to improve on Starbucks - with barista-made coffee drinks, food and a place to write your magnum opus, Bruleries FARO is pretty damm good. Their espresso is a useful component in a coffee education. They do a Golden Gate espresso which is designed to be the lightest most citrusy coffee on the planet. All the lemon flavor comes from the bean itself rather than any add-ons after brewing. The coffee packs an amazing amount of citrus flavor. Now - me personally - I am a dark, dark, darker than mud coffee guy. Burn your beans and I adore you. I order the darkest roast in the house. Give me chocolate overtones or spice overtones - thank you very much. A citrus coffee on a megalight roast is as odd for me as a giraffe wearing a sweater. But over thought and retastings, I slowly came to terms with this new kid on the block. Say what you will - first thing in the morning a citrus coffee will definitely wake you up. This is one of those strong flavors similar to the strong flavors in a Mediterranean breakfast where they give you feta cheese raw scallions and a pepperoncini to go with coffee. The lemon is far more subtle and delicate - but it is definitely there to shake you out of your cobwebs. I was good friends with Golden Gate espresso by the time I was done. For food they offer the normal run of brownies, pastries and sandwiches, along with two salad bowls offered by a commercial vendor. The bowls have a name like Buddha Bols - and for a commercial salad they are pretty good. Not so much lettuce - yes so much alt vegetables - and a good peanutty dressing. And - although I did not plan things this way - a light roast goes better with salad than does a dark roast. (Soon there are going to be food pairings with coffee just as there are food pairings with wine. You want a strong Shiraz with that Chile con Carne and end with full bodied dark roast over dessert.) The room is a lovely place to be. Note that other Yelp reviews complain about service. A few complain about price. I have no idea what the complainers are talking about. There were two hard working baristas at the counter. They took a long time to craft every coffee. But they were working nonstop - and were as nice and pleasant as one could ask for. They were both charmers and skilled artisans. And if you have a chain working to develop higher ideas about what coffee should be - it is reasonable to expect to have to pay a fair price for that coffee. (Not to mention the fact that all of their coffee is Fair Trade in the first place. The growers back in Ethiopia or Nicaragua get their cut - as sadly also does the middleman.) * * * Overall, this is a first rate place. If I really wanted to get fully educated - I probably ought to start drinking my way through the rest of the bean bins in the lineup.

The Long Version: Hectare Cafe is located in a mini food hall called Le Coin Gourmand in Old Montreal. I was at One Babo in the same food hall getting a bubble tea and since my husband does not like bubble tea and is a coffee fiend, he popped into Hectare Cafe to get his third coffee of the day (!) He got a small Americano ($4). It came in a cool-looking paper cup that looked like a takeout container (see my photo). He enjoyed it and said it was delicious. I had a taste and it was ok, lol, but I'm not a coffee connoisseur and I don't like my coffee black the way he does. He said service was friendly. The food hall is cute. There's indoor seating but it's very small in there. I did spot some Haitian pastries like Pate Kòde which I'd love to try on a future visit. Review #212 (2025)

You can order online or come inside the coffee shop and grab a bag already made or order a bigger one. Since I don't live that close every time I grab a new bag I will grab a coffee. During the summer they have the iced Maple mocha I highly suggest to get it with coffee ice cubes rather than regular ice cubes it makes the whole difference for when the ice cubes Mel's it becomes more of a coffee flavour rather than a watery flavor. During The colder fall/winter days I like to order a maple mocha or a vanilla latte it's insanely good the coffee tastes fresh and the sweetness from the maple is perfect! Recently I had an issue with one of the bags that I had purchased it had a burnt taste even as you open the bag you could smell the Burt beans. I spoke with the owner and what surprised me the most is how professional and how caring he was about the situation. It wasn't a simple apology and offer for a replacement but it was very sincere and honest, Which is definitely something that a lot of the business owners are missing nowadays. Of course he offered to replace the bag which I was very grateful for and the new bag tasted so good. Having the situation happen and seeing how he handled the whole thing just gives me more love for this local roaster. It's great to be able to make a good coffee but Also know how to keep the relationship blooming with the customers is something that a lot of people need to remember.
