I made a stop at Brûlerie St-Denis the morning I was heading home for some plural peps and a little…read moresustenance. The brûlerie was was super close to our Airbnb, so it naturally made sense for us to stop here. The brûlerie sits it the bottom level of a row house, typical of businesses along Rue St-Denis. It's quite spacious, with a decent amount of seating and a large production counter. The counter itself is separated into two sections with one place to order beverage and food, and the other to order coffee beans in bulk. The coffee selection here is massive and separated by different regions/countries. I decided to get a cappuccino and a croissant - both were good. I also decided to sit in lieu of taking to go and it was quite comfortable there to just relax and sip. The croissant was also good, though I had a piece of my dad's scone and it wasn't good - too dry, even for a scone. Service was good, and overall I had a pleasant experience at Brûlerie St-Denis - worth a stop in if you're in the area.

Service was amazing and the girl at the counter was super sweet! We got an iced chai and vanilla iced matcha which were both super smooth. We also got bagels with cream cheese (you can't go wrong with Montreal bagels), and to top it all off we had a salted Carmel cookie, which was TO DIE FOR. 10/10 food and experience, if I was a local I think I would come her quite often!

I love that there's a good coffee shop that's not a huge corporation in South Shore. The local…read morecoffees are the best and this is one of the best roaster coffee places you'll find! I usually come every 2 weeks and get the Muerte. The cashier is super friendly knowledgable and patient. The first time I came I don't know what was popular or what to take, I asked her quite a few questions and she stay cordial throughout all my questions. You can order online or come inside the coffee shop and grab a bag already made or order a bigger one. Since I don't live that close every time I grab a new bag I will grab a coffee. During the summer they have the iced Maple mocha I highly suggest to get it with coffee ice cubes rather than regular ice cubes it makes the whole difference for when the ice cubes Mel's it becomes more of a coffee flavour rather than a watery flavor. During The colder fall/winter days I like to order a maple mocha or a vanilla latte it's insanely good the coffee tastes fresh and the sweetness from the maple is perfect! Recently I had an issue with one of the bags that I had purchased it had a burnt taste even as you open the bag you could smell the Burt beans. I spoke with the owner and what surprised me the most is how professional and how caring he was about the situation. It wasn't a simple apology and offer for a replacement but it was very sincere and honest, Which is definitely something that a lot of the business owners are missing nowadays. Of course he offered to replace the bag which I was very grateful for and the new bag tasted so good. Having the situation happen and seeing how he handled the whole thing just gives me more love for this local roaster. It's great to be able to make a good coffee but Also know how to keep the relationship blooming with the customers is something that a lot of people need to remember. I'm not saying that the customer is always right but that the customer is an important factor. If you're in south shore definitely check them out and even if you're not they're coffee are worth the drive!

Great new artisanal café in Greenfield park! It's very cozy inside with many tables. They have…read morereally comfortable chairs at each of their tables and a terrasse for the summer. Their coffee was very good! They offer a wide range of coffee drinks and teas as well as fresh pastries each day including croissants, muffins and cakes. They have a water bar to serve yourself a glass free of charge and free WiFi for you to stay a while. Prices were very reasonable, about the same price as Starbucks. I'm really glad GPK finally has a nice artisanal coffee shop!

La Graine Brûlée - Dinner at 11 p.m. because of a snooze after arriving late to YUL: a vegetarian burrito and tea the more complicated way.

Independent - and very different - coffehouses in the Montreal area - 1 of 2…read more A hectic transition to Montreal - first arriving at YUL and then on to Centre-Ville - called for a rest - a nap - which then brought on the need for a snack and coffee/tea late at about 11:00 p.m. Looking at the phone didn't provide much in the way of choices, and, at that, a place where one could sit. I looked at the listing for La Graine Brulee more than once and had to think about it. I finally went in. This place is indeed weird. However, it all turned out to be better than I thought. There are all these seating areas, with some on either side of the front door and then several on a circular bench radiating from the center and making for quite a few tables. That's where I sat. Take note that there is also a big wooden cube with a lot of graffiti on it. The service was pleasant. I ordered some hot tea and they made a vegetarian burrito for me at late hours. (There's no way in hell you'll find something with meat or poultry in here.) I'm glad I was able to eat something before turning in. The prices were acceptable for what I got and its location, between 2 and 3 blocks east of the city's main Metro station at Berri-UQAM. In looking around, there was a good cross-section of people. It's more about nearby UQAM (translation: students) than it is "Le Village," which is now mid-rise and high-rise condos ... and the cranes that go into making them. Tables with books and laptops were the norm which, in my mind, is a good thing. Either way, there wasn't anyone over 40 here as far as I could see. That said, I don't know how willing I'd be to go back, unless in the same situation, and I have to joke that I don't know if personae who are middle of the road, and right of that, would like it here. However, if you are cut from the same cloth as the ownership and the other patrons, meaning bohemian and "new age-y," then I would strongly recommend it. I'm talking tribe! I will rate it within that context since they are not looking to serve the "mom, apple pie, and Chevrolet" crowd. Also, being on Saint-Catherine Est might foretell its personality, since Est and Ouest along this major thoroughfare can be two different worlds. However, La Graine Brulee delivered on a (vegetarian) burrito and some hot tea that I needed before turning in and did it well.

La Graine Brûlée - You order up the front. Service was polite. Radiating small tables in pinwheel form. (Interesting hat on that urban(e) customer.)
