I ordered tires as well - Tires were fine. The complaint is on their level kit scam
Greg S.

45 Tires and Wheels' got me with a "Bait and Switch Scam". They cost me an ENORMOUS amount to have the mistake they made on my truck fixed. I also had to rent a car, while I waited for a competent suspension place to fix what 45 Tire had done. I ordered a rough country 2" leveling kit and install with Martin for my Ram 1500. When I showed up to their location, Martin confirmed with me that the rough country coils and shocks would be installed on my truck and the stock suspension components would be given to me. Several hours later I showed up and looked under the truck. The rough country suspension components that I ordered and told would be installed weren't there. Instead there were generic spacers installed on top of the stock suspension. I brought this up to Martin and Jose and they said that the generic spacers would be better than the rough country coils and shocks that I paid for. I trusted them and gave the truck a spin. The ride quality was so bad that it was a legitimate safety concern. The next day I went back to 45 Tire and they were very hesitant to work with me. After enough complaining, they offered to order in the rough country kit that I was originally told I would have, but that it would cost an extra $125. This is what the Better Business Bureau considers a "bait and switch scam". Feeling like I had no other choice, I agreed to wait while they ordered the correct parts. 2 days later, I called Martin to see if the rough country components had come in. He said that I needed to be more patient. I asked for a tracking number on that shipment. He said he would get back to me with it but never did. I called and left a voicemail and never got a call back. I went back down to 45 Tire and told them that if they couldn't put the components that I paid for on my truck, that I wanted the crappy spacers to be removed and the truck put back to stock. Jose said that he would have to call their owner and ask. Apparently the owner said that they didn't have the time to put my truck back to stock. I asked Jose if I could speak to the owner and he said no. I asked Jose what the owner's name is and he said "I DON'T KNOW". That was when it was 100% clear that I was being scammed. While inside 45 Tire I called 4 Wheel Parts and ordered the Rough Country 2" kit that 45 Tire refused to get for me. After talking to another customer inside of 45 Tire about my experiences thus far being scammed - they finally came to a compromise to refund part of my money. The remainder of my refund was promised to me when I had the time to have another shop take off the crappy spacers that 45 Tire scammed me with. I had to go back to 45 Tire to return the spacers that I never ordered in the first place to get my refund. This was the worst retail experience I have ever had.

I was able to get the tire inflated thanks to the valet crew so I could get home but desperate to get the tire fixed before I had to shuttle my client around all day and evening. I found Montrose Mobile Tire here and was so impressed by the number of 5-star reviews. Made an easy online appointment for early the next morning and Oscar showed up on time and had my tire permanently patched in 15 minutes. He was so professional and helpful and I was on my way on time to pick up my client. There was a second part to the story, however. The tire started going flat within a couple of days. Normally this would lead to a negative review but I reached out to Oscar and explained the situation. I was able to get an immediate appointment and he discovered that he had had 1-2 other incidents where the patch had still resulted in a leak on this particular tire and it also could have been a faulty patch. Either way, he triple checked my tire for any other causes for the leak and installed a new patch and tested it, leveled the air pressure in all my other tires and said to call him if there are any other issues with it. While it took two trips, I appreciated the quick response, the dedication to making things right and his willingness to address any issue if one occurred again with the tire.

Within 1 hour they managed to get me back on the road again, with almost no hassle and for less than $100 out of my pocket. As my car sat along the street, a mobile trailer came within 30 minutes of my call and they were able to access my tire situation extremely quickly. It was revealed that my stock tires were not regular ones that come on most cars and that due to the inner foam that the tires have, it would not be as simple as just pumping them up and patching them. The service felt genuine, if not a little rushed, but it was really interesting to watch them in action. They noted that they also sell tires if a total replacement is needed but in my case, it was a quick patch. They were very thorough in helping me understand the process, even going as far as to tell me what I can do in the future if I ever come across something like a nail through my foam-laced tires. (#1) They were also very good about helping me understand how to approach a tire problem at a tire store if I ever decided to go that route. The bottom line was that they were willing to work with my budget and offer me something affordable, quick, and ultimately, painless. Oscar was the man running the show, but was guiding Luis (?) while repairing another vehicle. The total came out to be $95 for my emergency and they were timely, communicative, and even provided an on-the-spot PDF in my email. It was an ideal transaction and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to utilize their services again. ____________ (#1) A special tar does the sealing trick. Is it that simple?

When I arrived, the store was already quite busy. I'm not sure how many appointments they schedule per 15-minute window, but there were a lot of customers ahead of me, so the initial wait was longer than expected. That said, several staff members acknowledged the delay, apologized, and assured me I'd be checked in as soon as possible--which I appreciated. After checking in, I decided to drop off my car and run an errand rather than wait, especially since the check-in took longer than anticipated. Interestingly, the actual tire service was completed faster than my wait time, which was a nice surprise. They handled everything as requested: the damaged tire in my trunk was disposed of, and the good tire that was replaced was bagged and placed in my trunk along with my spare. When I returned, the team member who walked me to my car was friendly and mentioned that this is the busiest location in Houston--and that what I experienced was actually considered a slower period--which I found impressive given how busy it already seemed. Overall, they manage the workload well. My only suggestion would be to prioritize scheduled appointments over walk-ins when possible. Otherwise, a solid experience.

I asked what the line for an extra $30 charge was, he admitted it was not necessary it was a warranty that's voluntary and he could take it off. He was very sheepish and seemed like a normal thing to get caught sneaky charging "voluntary" warranties that the customer has no idea about. So he refunded me, but tip to the wise, they "auto" add the $30/tire, ask to see the breakdown of charges before swiping! I'm a chick so take it for what it's worth with car experiences....he also was trying to hard sell me 4 tires, fearmongering that I could have a blow out at any time. Lol stay sharp ladies/lads Edit: service was very quick, but they did not adjust any of the other 3 tire air pressures lol. So I'm off to the gas station to pay money to put air in my tires after just being at the tire place. Ha, got me twice!
