Hands down, 42° is my favorite headshop in the Houston area. They were close to me when we lived near 518 & 146, and now that we're a little further away and traffic passing Kemah can be a beast to get through, I still go out of my way to patronize Buddha's place...even though I could throw a rock in any direction from my porch and hit any number of other, sub-par to just average smoke shops. Even before he rolled out his points/rewards system, I was sold on Buddha's shop. Now he's got a setup where you earn points for every dollar you spend, 100 points is 10% off an item, I believe. 250 points earns you store credit...I'm so close! Wednesdays are the only days you don't earn points, coz everything's 20% off on Wednesdays. If you're in there enough and/or you're making a large purchase, he'll absolutely make it worth your time and money. The conversation's always great, too. I donno how he does it, but he remembers everyone, it seems. I currently buy my nicotine free vape juices there, but I've bought plenty of glassware, papers, and other accoutrements there, too, and his selection can't be beat. The quality of his glass pieces is higher than what I've seen in other local shops, too. And, not that he's ever done me wrong, but if he thinks he's inconvenienced you at all, he'll make up for it. I once showed up right when they were sposed to be open one day, and he ended up being 10min late, coz his kiddo was sick. He apologized profusely, even though I didn't mind and totally understood, then said, "I was 10min late, I'm gonna do 10% off on this." Absolutely wasn't looking to get an even better deal than he already makes, but he's a good guy. He'll do you right EVERY time. Heads up on the parking, though. The lot's a little wonky, and it can be a hassle to get in or out on the weekends, when the next door bar is very busy. Doable, just requires some creative turning sometimes.
Seriously: go out of your way to visit Buddha's 42°. It's worth it. read more
