Ordered about 4x from here and the platters are consistent, tasty, and plentiful. Sweet personable woman who kept true to the original design and hospitality. There's even little candy bowls on the counter. I love jerk chicken and usually don't eat chicken thighs, but hers I finish all the time lol. I feel like I have tried a large majority of the Jamaican restaurants in Connecticut over my lifetime, as well as I have grown up eating the cuisine, so I know it very well. Our food was not fresh. We actually heard a microwave going in the back as the server was preparing our plates. Regardless, the flavor of the food was good for the most part. The jerk chicken was charred... almost inedible, but my boyfriend stripped the skin off and ate the meat anyways. They also did not have a lot of the options on the menu. The location has some seating, but I would not recommend staying and eating your food there, as it is not a great atmosphere, as well as the server and another guest spoke about politics and watched the news the entire time we were eating, which was a little uncomfortable. read more

Savory curried chicken, subtle spices. Definitely recommend the plantains, which were made special for us when we sat down for lunch. The menu goes beyond Jamaican and has other wraps and sandwiches along with standard diner food. The chef/waiter was friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced. This was another disappointed attempt to find a good Jamaican restaurant in this area. We stopped in on New Years Day 2016 and we had poorly warmed up food. That seems to be sadly the norm for Jamaican food in this area. The proprietor was friendly but clearly more interested in talking than cooking. The oxtails was loaded with fat the curried chicken, brown stewed chicken, and rice and peas were all barely warmed to eating temperature. Nothing about this meal was memorable or distinctive in a good way. I see no reason to visit again. read more

Fabulous fresh flavors and great prices! You have to be OK with bones in your food, but that's traditional Jamaican cuisine.

Hands down one of my favorite Jamaican restaurants in the area. Generous portions (at each size) and well cooked food keep me coming back. First time here I went with a friend who grew up in Jamaica and he could not stop racing about the oxtail! I'm a fan of the jerk chicken, it falls apart and is coated in a pitch black, savory jerk spice... Amazing! The cabbage and rice are both great and super fresh... The interior is functional but not much more, you'll never notice though as you'll focus on the amazing flavors! read more

I love how if I can't decide, she allows me to get a combo. Chicken falls off the bone. The oxtail is very tender. Her rice and cabbage is the bomb.Gotta have gravy over the rice. The best Jamaican food I have ever had from an amazing person and cook. She teach sixth graders as a reading specialist during the day, helps care for her mom and runs a restaurant seven days a week. The worst Jamaican food I've ever tried. My friend and I came here midday on a Sunday. Ordered a custom order curry shrimp dinner. This took over 45mins -1hr (no patties ready) to get ready by the way. Got home the shrimp were like the tiniest roach shrimps with some curry that looked more like red sauce. My absolute favorite jamaican place hands down. Super Duper friendly service. One lady show im guessing, shes super nice and relatable. I swear to goodness i could eat the rice and cabbage with some gravy by itself, its that freakin good. Absolutely Delicious and the owner is Wonderful! We found this place while hunting for oxtail and ended up getting the best riches most flavorful goat curry of our lives. The oxtail is juicy and falls right off the bone. If you want, you can have plenty of delicious gravy on your rice and peas. The owner is a lovely and intelligent woman who cooks everything herself and genuinely loves taking care of her customers. And the prices are spectacular. Talk about bang for your buck! Well this restaurant has pulled a bait and switch on me. I went there one time previously on a Saturday and the food was good. However tonight I was with one of my friends and suggested getting food from there after attending a wake. She said that she heard the owner doesn't cook the food fresh everyday because she is also a teacher and that she only makes the food on the weekend and then refrigerate and microwave it everyday. I thought perhaps she was wrong and had gotten this place confused with somewhere else. Well when we got there I asked the owner if she was a teacher and she said "yes." STRIKE 1. I was still trying to be optimistic and ordered the curry chicken and oxtails once again. Well this time the rice was mushy, very mushy. The curry chicken had no flavor or taste at all! The large order of oxtails contained exactly (4) oxtails in there and they were very tough and didn't taste good. My friend ordered the jerk chicken and the owner took the chicken out of the fridge (made previously just as we heard.) My Friend said the chicken tasted very old! I was very disappointed and embarrassed that I suggested this place. I will not be back! read more
