During a recent visit to Bardstown we randomly stopped in 3rd Street Tap House to grab a drink while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. While walking down the sidewalk we saw the sign and decided on a whim to check it out. We didn't go inside, but rather walked up the alley next to the building to access the back bar. There was plenty of seating, both covered and not, and there were heaters. Social distancing was very easy with the layout! We each ordered a drink and received quick and friendly service. We were then able to sit and enjoy our beer and conversation without any issue. The spot wasn't overly loud, and as I mentioned there was plenty of seating and heat, so it was comfortable. Also, one of my favorite parts about this spot, was that there were two large German Shepherds behind the bar! I absolutely love dogs! I wish they could be everywhere. So, meeting these two bonus bartenders was great! If you're in the area and looking for a casual spot to grab a drink, 3rd Street Tap House is a good place to stop.

I'm a bit torn about this place/AKA husband daycare (per the self proclaimed sign outside). They don't serve food, but I don't fault them for that at all, there's plenty of good spots for food in Bardstown. We were there during one of the many seasonal festivals in downtown Bardstown. After I tried the door, I noticed the bar tender standing there, scrolling on her phone, but she didn't budge or look up... They were closed, it was still five minutes or so left until open time. So, we plopped down and sat at one if the few outside tables and chairs to wait. I'm not sure what the deal was... maybe she wasn't permitted to open on time, maybe she was annoyed that we waited. Whatever the case was, if you have people waiting especially during a peak event... unlock the door on time! We finally got in! The tin cups that lined the wall prompted me to order a Kentucky Mule. To my surprise she served it to me in a glass. She hates me! I still wanted a dang tin cup, so I inquired about the wall full of them. The locals purchase them for $15, use them when they're there and then they hang the cups up on the wall with their name posted on it. Ah ha... that's it, they cater to the locals... No big deal, I get it. I can take rejection. They do have a few top shelve bourbons at reasonable prices. We later learned that a friend of ours stopped in the same day and got the same bourbon at a different price than what we did. Happy hour whenever they choose, I guess. The beer... they only had two IPAs and not many local Kentucky beers at all. No offense, but if you find this to be the best craft beer selection in Kentucky, please accept my invitation to show you around the Lexington beer scene.

Finishing off our holiday spree in festive Bardstown, KY. Santa's HoHoHo, they had us at Champagne, and Taylor Swift look alike singing, fun finish to put evening!

More than I expected. Nice selection of craft beer and special holiday themed drinks. Live music was a plus. Nice place to hang out with friends.

Saturday crowd having a boisterous evening!

Solid craft beer and bourbon selection, young, local, boisterous crowd. We were staying at the Air BnB upstairs from this place and stopped here for a beer after a long drive to town from Michigan during the off season (January). 10 craft beer taps in addition to a large bottle list. No food. We didn't try bourbon. Loud atmosphere, swear it was a college crowd, but don't know if there is a college near here. Everyone seemed to know each other. Crowd was polite, but drunk. Service was great for how busy they were. Close time seemed to be driven by crowd atmosphere. No last call was given (that I heard, but it was loud). The great draft craft-beer selection (best in Bardstown that we found!) will bring me back, but if you're there late, be ready for a rowdy atmosphere.

The lounge seating setup was a little unconventional, but the staff quickly accommodated us when I mentioned a concern, which I really appreciated. The service was outstanding. I wish I could remember our server's name because he truly made the experience. He handled the entire lounge area by himself and never missed a beat -- personable, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly efficient. We ordered a few cocktails along with the hush puppies, Cajun calamari, and Brussels sprouts. The drinks were fantastic, and while the appetizers were good, they weren't quite memorable enough for us to reorder next time. That said, we're definitely planning to come back and explore more of the menu. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend checking out Black Rabbit for yourself. It's a great spot for either a romantic date night or a fun evening out with friends.

Since this restaurant has a speakeasy vibe, I thought it might be part of the schtick. However, I'm not sure how long the business has been open, so maybe the GPS was accurate. Our dinner host who made the reservation had told our group the "password" in order to be taken to our private dining room. When I arrived and approached the hostess stand, she took me via a convoluted route to the rest of the diners, no password required. I guess I was lucky because other diners in our group said they had to provide the password. We arrived during happy hour and it was also martini night, so several items from the appetizer menu (wings, spinach dip, tempura shrimp) and cocktail list were available for reduced price. I ordered tempura shrimp (5 pieces) and a glass of Malbec. The shrimp were bland and were served with a sweet chili sauce that was cloyingly sweet with absolutely no heat. I ended up ordering a bourbon roasted pear salad as my main. It was a better choice with buttery lettuce, chunks of firm pear, crunchy walnuts, and pickled red onions. One of my fellow diners had to wait for her first course appetizer to arrive well after the rest of us had finished ours, as it was either overlooked by waitstaff or the kitchen. Service was slow at times, although the place appeared at not even 1/2 capacity when we arrived and possibly 2/3 when we left 2 hours later. Another diner ordered pizza and said that the toppings were good, but commented that the texture of the crust (underdone) made it unpalatable. Finally, another person in our group had to send her food back to be heated. She indicated the plate was warm, but the food (pot roast Manhattan) was not. Final bill was just under $50 (happy hour shrimp $10, wine $11, salad $18, and an automatic 20% gratuity had been added). Upon reflection, I would perhaps return here for a cocktail to enjoy the lounge and live jazz when that is offered. I would be very hard pressed though to order any food, as there are many more valuable and appealing options nearby at this price point.

The bartender was snarky, but it felt ironic and playful -- classic dive bar energy. No issues at all. I even suggested we return Monday night with coworkers. For context, multiple bartenders at the first bar we visited that evening warned us not to go to 3rd Street Dive due to past negative experiences. I brushed it off because my Sunday visit had been fun and I thought they just didn't like the dive bar vibe. Monday was a completely different story. The bartender was openly hostile from the start -- yelling and swearing at customers, aggressively confronting people for briefly being on their phones, and creating a tense, uncomfortable environment. Demanding no one stand at the bar while we were trying to pay our tab. The situation escalated when he intentionally and aggressively threw a drink on one of my coworkers. This was not an accidental spill in a packed bar. It was deliberate. At that point, it stopped being "dive bar attitude" and started feeling volatile and unsafe. There's a difference between edgy and unprofessional. Sunday felt edgy. Monday felt unpredictable and uncomfortable. Louisville has too many great spots to risk spending your evening somewhere that could escalate like that. I hope ownership takes a serious look at what's happening behind the bar. I won't be returning.

This establishment shares a parking lot with long time Lousiville staple diamonds and milewide brewing just off Barrett lane in a very popular bar scene in the Louisvilel highlands area. As soon as you walk in downtown his bright yellow establishment the inside ha a contrasting dark lit atmosphere like a movie theatre. That would be because it kinda is a small movie theatre. You walk in downtown heights a hallway filled with nostalgic movie characters and to the left is the full service bar and right in front of you is the seating section with a projector pumping out some of your favorite 80's and 90's cult hits. It was October when me and my buddy Jeremy came here so they was playing a Halloween favorite sleepy hollow. We sat down immediately and glanced at there clever drink menu all themed after cult hit movies and stars of the the two aforementioned decades. My buddy isn't much of a mix drinker so he went with a bourbon and coke. I was feeling nostalgic so I got one of the fun drinks. I ordered a cinna-bite drink (Tito's vodka, coffee and cinnamon). While we waited we browsed around checking out the very cool and nostalgic decor and went on the other side of the bar to check out the rental section to bring back all the nostalgic feels of combing through a blockbuster in our youth. Our drinks came out quickly and our waiter was super nice and helpful. It appeared they had some regulars there for a trivia night and he asked us if we wanted to participate but we had to be somewhere soon. But I'm sure it would have been cool to do. My buddy liked his beam and coke. Classic drink that's hard to mess up. My specialty drink was very good. I'm not a huge coffee guy and the cinnamon and vodka had very good and distinct flavors. Very tasty and potentially dangerous I guess because you would have no idea that drink had any hard liquor in it. Upon leaving I noticed they had a ghost busters hi-c ecto cooler (y'all remember those?) hard drink. When I come back I'll have to try that. I'm sure it's great as well. Overall, awesome place with an amazingly fun and nostalgic vibe. Great and creative drinks and a friendly staff. I can see this being a cool spot to come and hang out when I have more spare time. Highly recommended any child of the 80s/90s to check this place out. You will not regret it.
