Booking was super easy and once that was done, I received regular emails from Vino 301 and texts until the day of the tour. We were picked up this past Saturday (4/20) at the appointed location and time. We boarded a very well appointed van with about 4 rows of seats that accommodated us all. I felt very safe on the rides to and from the wineries. Our host and driver were super friendly and treated us like royalty. Prior to arriving at each venue, we were provided some background and things we should know in advance. She more or less herded us from place to place, which was actually quite comforting. I felt very well taken care of AND seen as I was the only one on the tour not drinking, but I was provided water and other beverages over the course of the day. Oh, and the lunch we received was AMAZING. So much food! I had the roast beef BLT, which came with a bag of chips, pasta salad, and a dessert. Definitely recommend!

Pro's -Transportation provided and your choice of music (Bluetooth connection to phone) -The girl's and I felt like royalty! -Carla our tour guide was amazing! She and our driver, Patrick, were on time, and very friendly when I first met them. Carla was very knowledgeable. She knew the history of the wines, taste, pairings, and the owners of each winery. -Carla and Patrick made us all feel like family -Each winery we visited didn't feel rushed and we were allotted plenty of time for tastings, enjoying the ambiance (live music), and purchases. -Each guest was gifted a wine holder bag, bottle of water, wine tumbler, and snacks. All the essentials!! -Got to tour three different wineries in the Chesapeake Beach area (Robin Hill, Romano, JaneMark) -All of us were wiped from the tours, tastings, and fun we had. We would definitely do another tour! Con's -I just didn't want the experience to end!

I was able to bring…read moremy daughter here to play, with supervision, while I got some work done and had a coffee on a day my nanny was not available. My daughter had so much fun with the employees and other kiddos! I opted to sit downstairs which is louder, but there is a quiet work/study space upstairs for additional cost. Before we left I also ordered food to go from Shorty's Deluxe. Childcare and food all in one Highly recommend Mulberry Lane for all the parents!

But Mulberry Lane is a notch above bc not only is it a play cafe but there is staff there to watch your lils while you get to go elsewhere within the building whether that's in the lil tables visibly nearby or in one of their neighboring and partnering restaurants. I'd toootally get my kids memberships if we lived nearby. Since we probably would only go weekends for an hour or two, I'm glad there are the options for one time pay or multi hour passes for future use. Since we weren't sure if we'd be back, we gave it a try for one hour. Prices may change but our first time was $18 per child per hour. This may seem high for only one hour, but my kids had fun and my hour without worrying about them or being interrupted was very productive so it was worth it. Staff are friendly. I only wished they had gluten free options for the kiddos to enjoy after their play. Guess we can bring our own next time! :)

Service was great-- the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the featured wine flight, then split a bottle of champagne with my friend. We also had the happy hour meatballs and pimento cheese dip. Both were really tasty. I look forward to making this place a bigger part of my rotation!

(2 out of 5 stars)…read more This is a difficult review to write because the Sonoma Cellar used to be one of my favorite spots in Old Town Alexandria. I was aware the ownership had changed some time ago, but this was my first opportunity to return and see how things had kind of evolved. The good news is that they are pet friendly, which allowed us to bring our puppy, Chewie. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The service was painfully, excruciatingly slow. The staff members were polite though, and genuinely trying to help, but they simply appeared unprepared. When we asked for recommendations or information related to the wines, we received very little guidance. One gentleman eventually admitted that he was just filling in and didn't really know the wines at all. Understandable, but not the experience I was going for. The water bottle for the table served to us was room temperature, which felt odd, especially on a hot day while sitting outdoors. The wine tasting was a major disappointment compared to what Sonoma Cellar used to offer, and the overall wine selection appeared to me at least, noticeably smaller than I remembered. I was also disappointed to discover that Sonoma Cellar has adopted the increasingly common practice of adding a 3% credit card surcharge. I didn't notice any clear disclosure beforehand, and these types of fees always leave a bad impression. I know I'm a bit picky with those, but still. The establishment was likely dealing with staffing issues on the day we visited, but the overall experience felt like a shadow of what this place used to be. What used to be one of my favorite wine stops in Old Town has clearly diminished in both service and selection. We left disappointed and, sadly, don't expect to return. Chewie agreed.

I never got the complimentary wine glass lanyard and some other do-hickeys (not that I wanted that goofy looking thing anyway), but they were supposed to come with my ticket purchase and it would've been nice to get what was advertised and get my money's worth. A lot of people stuck to the initial main area by the entrance where the tastings for whiskey, cheap vodka, and some wine were available along with a handful of food trucks and a Bare Minerals booth for the women who wanted mini-makeovers. We skipped this area and went along our way to the tents by the piers to search for food, or the lack thereof as we quickly discovered. The "unlimited" samples and tastings were definitely deceiving. Besides a sliver of a beef sample, the actual "food" we ate we purchased -- the jerky, chocolate bark and truffles, and cinnamon almonds which was enough to hold us over just so we could even consume alcohol. I even glanced at the program post-event and couldn't believe there was only one cheese vendor - Kerrygold. After giving the stall a quick glance the line for a crumble of cheese was a mile long down the pier so we didn't even bother to try it. We rarely came across any beer/wine vendors who actually knew the product enough to sell it or answer any of our questions and that was probably due to the fact that they just hired a bunch of volunteers to simply pour. If anything, the food vendors were the only knowledgeable bunch about the products they were selling. After experiencing this lackluster event, I'm glad I didn't pay full price or waste my money for the VIP upgrade. From what I've read from other Yelpers' reviews, the issue lies with the event organizer.

The VIP area was located on a pier and you had to show a special VIP arm band to gain entrance. There were food, wine, beer and liquor vendors up and down both sides of the pier offering various tastings, which were included in your VIP ticket with one EXCEPTION.... The Stella Artois tent had comp beer and beverages, BUT they wanted you to pay $2 a glass, which I thought should have been included with the VIP admission....anywhoo...it was a nice event with plenty wine, liqouor, food and beer flowing. I will no doubt be going again next year!

Even though it was a beautiful event, there were a couple of things that really impact our overall experience. 1. Some of the staff was SUPER RUDE and not really helpful when checking in, there were too many lines and not enough signage directing people where to go based on the ticket purchased. 2. With the book bag giveaway is there was no maps/ wayfinding to help guide people to food trucks and tents allocated to shops and specific food. 3. The pathway to seating on the hill was not accessible for everyone, and the path that was available was NOT blocked off for people to properly walk through. Even the area where we were to go to place the lanterns in the water was in some areas UNSAFE (rocks, boulders). 4. I know this doesn't fall on the event planners themselves but one specific food truck took over an hour for them to get us three items were ordered and still got our order wrong! Overall, I just wish it was better communication on placement maps, way finding signage, and staffing
