Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch - Child care area

Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch

I was hoping I would find a suburban area YMCA in Houston similar to the one I went to when I lived…read morein the Dallas area and this Monty Ballard YMCA fits just the bill. This Katy Cinco Ranch location is very family oriented and has plenty of space & equipment. I have yet to have any issues with waiting to use equipment even when it is busier. You will find a surplus of treadmills, free weights, squat racks, benches, and more for all your exercise needs. There is also a child care area available for the younger ones. In addition, they also have a gymnasium with multiple side rims, as well as both an indoor and outdoor pool. Other areas available include a stretch room, cycling room, group exercise room, and another smaller weight room. They have plenty of locker/storage space as well, located is some weight rooms, outside the restroom/pool area, and inside the restrooms as well (the ones in the restroom require your own lock). One of the things I love most is they have a water fountain with a filtered water bottle filler so I can bring my empty water bottle from home and fill it with water at the Y for my workout. Another thing I appreciate are the several sanitizing stations for your hands and for wiping down equipment. Overall I'm extremely happy with this Y. The staff are very friendly, they have plenty of parking and allow 3 free guest passes per year (my previous Y made you pay for all guest passes). The only slight negative I've found so far is that they don't provide basketballs for the gymnasium due to people not returning them, which is understandable. Thus, I highly recommend this YMCA!

The Club at Falcon Point

Overall rated 2 stars. We held our annual women's club luncheon here yesterday. For the amount of…read moremoney we paid to hold our event in the private room, you'd think we would not needed to 1) ask several times to lower the music, 2) as to fill up and refill the coffee carafe, 3) asked for ice for water, 4) asked for salad plates to be placed near the salad 5) asked twice to setup microphone and speakers 6) asked several times to refill hot dishes on the buffet table. We ran out of food twice while women were standing in line waiting. At one point it took them 10 minutes to refill and those standing, chose not to wait any longer. You'd think staff would be monitoring a buffet intended to serve 40 women. Rather, we had absolutely no one monitoring to ensure things were all set with food and drinks. Myself and another were constantly going into the kitchen asking for someone to help us. 7) We had no one available to remove dirty plates when we finished; some our women to include me got up to help remove everyone dirty dishes. It truly was so very frustrating and disappointing. I guess after receiving our final deposit that morning as paid in full, there was little to no incentive to make sure our luncheon was attended to. Beware... you absolutely do not get what you pay for!!! PS: the food was yummy but all that DID NOT happen that SHOULD OF HAPPENED truly did spoil the who luncheon. The 2 star rating is a 100% could of been better with having SOMEONE in charge taking care to make sure our needs were being met.

Golf Review: Falcon Point is a private club in Katy that's…read morepart of the clubcorp group. I played with a member recently and had a tough round in the summer heat, but the course itself was very nice. The course was very challenging. There's water on 16 of the 18 holes, fairways are tight, sand traps are placed riiiight where you typically roll your drives, loooong par 4's, postage stamp elevated greens and those massive bushes that love to steal your ball. I suffered even worse because it was my first go at the course, so plenty of surprises. One condition issue was the tee boxes. I'm not sure if they were re-seeding or things were moved around due to a recent tournament, but the distance to the holes from the tees were way off from score card yardage and looked beat up. Service was great. Everyone I encountered was friendly and happy to help. We had a tee time following a junior tournament so there were plenty of people milling about but we still got everything we needed quickly. Facilities were nice enough though I didn't linger. They have a large bar room next to the pro shop for that hole 19 beer. I changed in the locker room and did notice that the changing area seemed a bit shabby for a private club. Thin carpet, nameplates missing from lockers, scuffed furniture, etc. I'm not considering membership at this club or any others at this time, so I'm just focusing on the golf round which was good. If you typically slice or haven't broken the 90's in your game, bring extra balls and some patience.

First off, Brandon showed up at my house without a mask! I asked him to put one of mine on and he…read moredid, but really, who shows up in a pandemic without a mask? Then when I walked into their showroom, again, neither him or the assistant was wearing a mask. Brandon did make note of what I wanted in an outdoor kitchen and did an awesome drawing, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted so I called the assistant to have Brandon call me before he started the revision with the changes, he didn't call back, strangely enough, the assistant called me a week later to set up an appointment and I asked her if she asked Brandon to call me and she couldn't remember. So, I said I can't make the final appointment until he calls me back so I can tell him the changes. He did finally call back a week after that and I told him the changes, but now it's been going on 3 weeks to make those minor changes and he still hasn't called back to show me the new changes in the 2D and 3D drawings so we could move forward. I guess I won't ever hear back from him. Just to note, I was told I would get a 2D and 3D drawing, I only got 1 of those for my money which was $300, but it wasn't the one with the final new changes (what a rip off). Guess he doesn't want to do business with me as the reason he is avoiding me. So disappointed in how I was treated. I've moved on to other companies that ARE interested in doing business with me. Avoid this company.
