So, the good news is that the staff and Dr Ahmed Kamal are friendly and professional; not only that will "GET YOUR DENTAL NEEDS DONE IN A HURRY." The bad news is that the Dental Hygiene in the office itself is not very good. They use the old lights and literally did not give me a pair of glasses to prevent 'flecks from going into my eyes (I had cataract surgery). Additionally, their prices are OUTRAGEOUS and they insisted on doing YET ANOTHER full 3-D "X-Ray." this on Feb 2024. The work that Dr Hamal did (they are not my regular dentists) which has completely fallen out the so called "Porcelain Ceramic Substrate".. and so called core build up the total charge for that was 1685.00 NO KIDDING. So, additionally, I found out that 3-D "logo" is linked to another Dental Group near Belle Haven, VA (or New Alexandria as it is now called) near the Belle Haven Golf course which actually performed an extensive and EXPENSIVE root canal with two teeth being crowned, lower one SNAPPED off.. and that cost me 10,000K yes you read that right. I am 74 years old and have spent thousands of dollars on my teeth.. because I was born w/ weak teeth. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. All that was in the middle of COVID which is why I went to them (they were so close and OPEN unlike many Dental offices). So I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND the 3-D GROUP to anyone. Several months ago my initial dental office Kingstowne Dental referred me to another office to have several teeth extracted for implants. I called the reference dental office only to be told that their system was down and that they couldn't make my appointment until the system was back up an running. After several weeks go by of calling I decided to contact my insurance company for another location. After finding one with good reviews I decided to call in make the appointment. After doing so I contacted Kingstowne Dental and spoke with Lindsey to have her forward my x-rays. Being assured that they had been sent I later learned that Lindsey had only sent photos and not x-rays. So I called Lindsey again to have my request submitted to 3D Dental Care off of Franconia Road in Alexandria, Virginia an again she sent photos. The day of my appointment with 3D it was determined again that Kingtowne Dental only sent photos. Therefore x-rays had to be accomplished at a cost to me since I had reached my insurance limit on x-rays for the year. Being the kind professional that he is Dr. Karma decided to take additional X-rays at no cost to me. That should have been my first red flag. However, as a new client, I took him at his word. My second "Red Flag" should have been his sense of urgency in which he wanted that day to start my extractions. What dental professional would chance their client leaving alone under the influence of a narcotic drug driving? I declined. After getting a workup on the cost of my dental work I made another appointment to have the work done so that my husband could be with me to drive me home. My third "Red Flag" not knowing then I was being given a breakdown cost of what was to be done. When ask if this was a final cost according to the receptionist she indicated that it was. Having to pay a little over one thousand dollars I agreed with the price. please keep in mind that this wasn't a pre-authorization bill from my insurance company which I was lead to believe. We are here, it's the day of my extractions and everyone was so nice and caring. As the work was being done "Red Flag #4" I was literally told as my tooth is being extracted from my mouth that I would be charged an additional $100 dollars for what I don't know to this day. But my husband paid it at the end. So now our bill is a little over $1300. "Red Flag #5 my husband was given a receipt but I was never given discharge instructions. "Red Flag #6 I woke up the next morning with the worst pain ever and my breath smelled of a bad infection. My gum had been cut and I could feel broken tooth still in my mouth. Needless to say I made a number of three return trips to 3D dental an never once did Dr. Karma say that he had to or accidentally cut into my gum but did agree that he had not removed all of the tooth. Adding more stitches I was told to make another follow-up for the removal of the third set of stitches. It's at this point at checkout when Barbara calls me a problem child because I had questioned why I had been charged an additional 100 dollars. She went on to explain that I had the worst insurance for the procedure being done to which I was being charge. Never once telling me why. I was totally embarrassed and not thinking clearly to argue, and just wanted to leave before I say something I would regret. It's my final day, almost one month later and the stitches come out thank God I'm done. Well wait... on my exit from the 3D Dental I was informed that I have a balance due of over 300 hundred dollars that my insurance company didn't pay. Yes I'm pissed off! Let's just say the bill is paid and their is no way I will trust them to do my implants. They couldn't even clean my teeth after all this because I don't trust or believe nothing I'm being told nor did I enjoy being belittled by the Barbra. I don't trust them now. So I guess I'm writing this review because I had so many red flags that I overlooked, looking back on things now because I was in so much pain and just wanted it corrected I guess you can say it's my fault. But be careful people. No matter what always get your dental office to pre-authorize any major work. Know more about the dental professional himself and not the name on the door or the smile on his face. The reviews I initially read were for Dr. Rosenblatt the dentist who held that same location for over 20 years. Now I'm walking around with a flap of gum hanging down that I can wiggle with my tongue as a reminder. read more

I went in to Dr. Kamal's office after not having been to a dentist in about two years. The staff was very nice and I didn't have to wait in the waiting room really at all. The hygienist took x-rays and did an initial brushing and flossing. Then Dr. Kamal came and did a more thorough cleaning. It was all pretty standard for a dental cleaning. I have to say that Dr. Kamal did not overdiagnose or overtreat me at all. It is really wonderful to be able to *trust* your dentist and I absolutely trust Dr. Kamal. He said the same things that my dad (also a dentist) has been saying about my mouth my entire life. I knew that Dr. Kamal knew what he was talking about. I had such a fantastic experience at 3D Dental!! I had been just getting over a very traumatic experience at my last dentist, and when I called to schedule my appointment I was immediately at ease. The woman I spoke with at the front desk was able to fit me in quickly, was clear about their Covid-19 protocols, and felt very genuine in her efforts to make sure my experience at 3D would be great. Upon my arrival, she met me outside to take my temperature and provide me with some hand sanitizer. I was only one of 2 patients in the office, and I did not cross paths with the other patient (a great job at scheduling and ensuring social distancing!). Both the receptionist and the hygienist were FANTASTIC. I felt so comfortable (despite my anxiety from my experience with my last dentist), they answered all of my questions, and provided me with a thorough cleaning and exam. Dr. Amal was equally fantastic. Throughout the cleaning he checked in to see how I was doing. He clearly explained his findings and his recommendations, and I left feeling such relief that I found a dentist I actually WANT to return to. A truly fantastic experience. First let me say the level and quality of dental care was slightly above average. However, this rating is based more on the deceptive business practices and horrific customer service. As an informed consumer, before scheduling a cleaning, I called to confirm that my insurance was accepted. The office staff responded in the affirmative, so I scheduled an appointment. After the cleaning and x-rays, the doctor recommended a filling, possibly two. This raised a little bit of a red flag, but I went a head to schedule on filling. I was told that my cleaning had a copay, which surprised me since previously My insurance had covered routine cleanings and x-rays 100% for annual checkup. When I arrived for the procedure, I asked about payment and THEN the office staff informed my that my insurance would not cover the cost of the procedure , that I would have to PAY FIRST and then I would have to send in paperwork for reimbursement. I was HOT mad, "Are you freaking kidding me????? Now you want to switch up and lie to my face???? I told them I would pay only a $100 deposit and then submit to insurance....nothing happens for weeks then I get a fat bill for over $600. What the heck? So I called furious and demanded to know the response from insurance ? To this day I'm not sure it was ever submitted to my insurance company. Eventual as an honest person, I slowly paid off the amount over the course of many months in protest , but ultimately settled my account. Doctor Kamal was very attentive and what is even more important he was very patient with me since i am really scared of any kind of dental procedures. Also I would like to mention how amazing and experienced was the staff there. I have had some very bad experiences in the past with dentistry. I have very bad anxiety and panic attacks. From the moment that I walked in the office, I felt a calm. The ladies in the back office were wonderful. They explained everything that was going to happen on that and when the Dentist came in his was as calm and soothing as he could be. I didn't have any fear. He told me after that visit, I had to return to have a root removed that was left in by a previous dentist. From the moment I sat down in his chair, until he finished the procedure. I never felt any pain or discomfort. I talked me though every step of the way.
