I already knew what I wanted to prioritize, such as replacing older silver fillings with white ones, and the approach was always collaborative and respectful. I came in for a cleaning and the dentist told the assistant to run my xrays through AI. This immediately set off alarm bells for me, as I expect a trained dentist to be able to identify cavities with their eye and not rely on AI, which we know makes mistakes. AI said I had 4 cavities, which I thought sounded like too many because I'm diligent about my dental hygiene. But I went ahead and got two of them filled. On one of the fillings the dentist kept drilling and drilling, and despite being numbed, I could feel it. I raised my hand to say I could feel it and he just stopped and started filling it. I was like - if I hadn't raised my hand, would he have just kept going? I then had persistent pain in the tooth for a week (there was zero pain before) so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out the dentist had not adjusted the filling to my bite correctly, so the way I was biting was inflaming the nerves in my tooth. Adjusting fillings to bite is Dentistry 101, so why wasn't that done? The new dentist also said he drilled so close to my nerves that I was almost in a root canal situation. Fortunately not, but wow, that really scared me. He also said I only needed one other filling, he didn't at all see this 4th filling I was told I needed. I saw another review on here of a man who was told he needed 7 fillings and then a second opinion said he only needed 4, so this isn't a one-off instance. It seems like this place prioritizes making as much money as possible, and therefore wants to sell as many procedures as possible, regardless of negative health impacts. I was also forced to buy a $30 prescription toothpaste, what a rip-off. They also push their in-house orthodontist heavily on people. I'm happy with my teeth even though they're not perfect, so I was not thrilled about the dentist unprompted telling me all the ways I could make them better with their orthodontist. In this economy?! I'm happy I found another dentist who doesn't put money first.

Somebody wrote a note here saying you already did it!" I got pulled to the back by an assistant (?), she never introduced herself or what role she did. She did a fantastic job with the x-rays and cleaning though! A lady named Kim walked in next, no clue what her role was either. She spoke to me about cleaning and flossing as if I were a 5 year old child. I'm a petite woman who is on the younger side, but cmon. As someone who's worked in healthcare for over 5 years, this was the worst bedside manner I've ever seen and experienced in my life. Dr. Nguyen was the next person in the room and spoke about 5 words to me then left. I am interested in doing Invisalign but they do consultations only on Wednesdays and Fridays with the last appointment being at 4pm. Nothing on Saturdays. That's difficulty for someone who works an 8-5 job and cannot get off. Overall, I was unimpressed with this visit and will be debating with coming back.

Yeah, the office is a little dated and could use some updating, but I will take a very competent Dentist and staff over the surroundings any day!!!!!!! However, I had several concerns with the front desk staff, particularly regarding my insurance eligibility. The office was listed as an in-network provider with my insurance company, but the front desk staff repeatedly told me otherwise and were unable to properly assist me with verifying my coverage. Eventually, my insurance processed and paid for my exam and X-rays, but the front desk staff still did not acknowledge that the office was listed as an in-network provider under my insurance plan. In addition, the manager, Christina, told me that she would contact me in two weeks after submitting a pre-authorization request to my insurance company for my treatment plan but I did not hear from her. I did not feel that my concerns were handled with the level of care and professionalism I expected. Overall, I was disappointed with the customer service I received from the front office. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously and that there was a lack of communication and follow-through. While I was happy with Dr. Sandy Lin, my experience with the front office staff was very frustrating.

The Alexandria office also received payment from my insurance on 21 May 2026 and as of today, 30 June 2026, I still did not receive my refund of $600. I cannot recommend this office because of their unprofessionalism and how careless they are! So sad!
