How can you not support a small family-owned theater?? Love this spot! I came to a movie as part of the film festival yesterday and it was a great experience. We got to hear from the director and the movie was good. 10 stars for the service. I had my hands full with everything that I bought from the food counter and the manager was super nice and friendly and walked with me to the seats and helped me with carrying everything. Never seen that at an AMC!

Banana Caramel - Aug 2025

The five stars are for the banana-caramel. It's a good dessert for older adults, especially because it doesn't overpower you with too much flavor or sweetness. Banana, caramel, and vanilla cream; mellow. This may sound weird, but it is also a good place for university students to study. It's actually a lot more cozy and secure than studying in the 8 story library. Finally there's the outside seating arranged around a crude stage. One of the most perfect places downtown to do busking, but it doesn't seem to ever get used for anything.

I recently came here for the midnight showing of Rocky Horror with some friends and have to say it was a fun experience! I do know the owners so I can say I'm a tad biased, however, I can speak for my group as well that we had a blast. They gave us little goodie bags with props in it for the show. All the staff that I interacted with were really nice and friendly. The lobby is pretty cool too! It had a purple grand piano which was fun. The snack and drink selection was nice. They also offered alcohol (beer and wine). Parking I have to say was a bit of a hassle but that's not their fault, it's downtown so not much to expect from that. The movie was fun, could've been louder cause there was a lot of crowd interaction going on but nothing worth fussing over. I recommend this theater for their interactive shows, we had a great time!

This theater is awesome, and not just because I saw such a great movie there (Cruella!)... it has a nostalgic old school feel, a classic diner area, colorful quirky touches, ie. tables made of casette tapes or Rubik's cubes, and unique flavors of gelato! More importantly, the place is clean and the employees/management are super friendly and helpful. The auditoriums don't have reclining seats, but they were comfortable, and I love the feel of this place overall. Plus free parking in the 2nd/San Carlos garage downstairs if you get your ticket validated (3 and 1/2 hours)... but I recommend you enter on 2nd Street because my friend entered on 3rd St, and due to the covid no-touch system in place, there was no ticket to validate (just pay w/ credit card). They don't show a lot of movies here, but they do show some great classics and sometimes new releases. I believe they've done sing-alongs in the past too. Good times!

The 3Below Theatre offers select documentaries, old movies and comedic movies. There's 3 small movie theaters in one venue. Ticket prices are as follows: Adult $14.00, Senior/Student $12.00 and Children $11.00. You can purchase tickets either online or in the theatre. Came to see RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsburg), an excellent documentary from the Sundance Film Festival. Prior to the movie, a woman named Shannon gave a talk about the 3Below Theatre and a summary of the RBG movie. Also, she gave away a free movie poster from "Pope Francis- A Man of his Word", if one audience member could guess the right answer to a question. There's a small theatre concession stand offering beer, wine, soda and candy. Also, there's a seating area to enjoy your refreshments. You can bring your drink and food into the theatre. Definitely would return to this theatre.

A small movie theater with only a few small screens. Playing mostly artsy and independent films, some quite good with an impressive 'wow' factor. It used to be called Camera 3, which was part of the Camera Theaters company (now mostly defunct). The new renovations include serving beer, not much of a selection, which may change. Interesting food items at a theater like salad , taquitos and potstickers. Oh, it also hosts a comedy improv group that performs regularly. Park in the multi level garage above the theater and get a validation coupon - free parking! A cool spot in downtown San Jose.

I'm thinking of going there for the Rocky Horror Picture show. Can we dress up? Are props allowed like water guns and rice? I'm not sure what "sing along" ticket includes.

Seating is comfortable- allowing patrons to recline and heat up your chairs. Best of all, each seat has its own table- great for kids and for huge snackers! CineArts is well kept and always clean during my visits. The concession stand offers alcoholic drinks, hot foods, popcorn, candies, and sugary beverages. Hot dogs, popcorn, and the pizzas are great- chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks are trash. Don't bother getting the tenders or mozz sticks unless you like it dry and hard. 5/5 stars overall. Overall, great service and a smooth visit from start to finish. Definitely coming back.

They sat a few rows away from me, which was perfect because it meant I could scroll in peace like the responsible adult I am. Popcorn prices weren't terrible (a small miracle these days), the seats were comfy, and it was just really nice to have a day out with my two girls without anyone melting down over ceilings. Honestly, this theater is way better than the one near her house and definitely better than roasting at home.

I brought my wife here last night, on our 30 yrs university, to remember back then when she was still my girlfriend, in my old truck, one we have spend so many times here with. Thirty minute into the movie, we needed to exchange our vehicle for an other one which my kids brought by and waited for me outside the gate. I exited the gate after inform the girl at the ticket boot of my intension that I would change the vehicle then go back in. I pull mine along the other about 300 ft away from the ticket boot. I know the distance since it was about the length of my property and I used to be an architect so I am good at that. I was hurry to take chairs, blankets, pillows, drinks... from one to the other. As soon as I start doing that a guy approached and shouted from his car that I cannot park there. - Sir, we are not park here, we just try to exchange the car - No, you have to move, I am security guy. - Sir, I have asked and inform the girl in the ticket boot to replace my car - No, you did not, because I was seating right there. This really upset me. He is implying I was lying for one. Two, how long my vehicle transfer would take? Did he see what I was doing and hear my explanation? I understood I might have stopped not in a right zone. I know they don't want anyone park there to watch movie for free. But it was Monday night, at 9:35 pm all (though very few) were inside. The parking was huge, no one around us, no car waiting at the boot, no car was coming or going. Our action would take no more than 2 minutes with engine car running and driving light on. If he paused a little bit to observe us, not come straight at us right a way, we would be gone in no time. Nothing would happen. But he decide to give us a hard time instead. For movies that might sold out, it's still worth it. Otherwise, we could have bought tickets at the theatre to avoid the extra fees. I like that they have senior day all day every Monday and Wednesday for 55+, in addition to the usual Tuesday specials. Such good deals! On the other hand, concession items are as expensive as other cinemas. My daughter got an Icee for $7.5. The concession line moved slowly, too. Finding street parking at night was easy. I liked their vintage vibe. It was quite unique compared to the movie theaters at the mall. Even though the seats didn't have recline buttons nor footrest, they still reclined a bit when you leaned back. The theatre was even nicer right after they renovated 10+ years ago. Certain things had started to age over the years, e.g. the leather on both my armrests was cracked. Overall, the place was still well maintained and clean. It was a nice experience watching a good movie with a crowd who also enjoyed the movie and clapped at the end. We would continue to come back.

Loved the 101 Greatest Movie Quotes poster in the lobby, which included Field of Dreams' "If you build it, he will come" and "Say hello to my little friend" from Scarface, along with classic quotes from earlier films, like Casablanca and The Wizard of Oz. Staff was friendly and helpful at the concessions stand which doubled as the movie ticket counter. Got a small bag of buttered popcorn, and it was delish. The inside of the auditorium was inviting and quite unique. Large black and white portraits of iconic actors and celebrities across time lining the walls, ie. Marilyn Monroe. High top tables and chairs inside the auditorium, in a section toward the side, in addition to the reserved lounger seats (this is the first movie theatre I've been to that had this, and I liked it). Not your typical luxury loungers, they do recline a bit if you lean back (no button to push), but there are no footrests that come out, and the aisle seats (at least toward the back of the room) were like loveseats with no armrests in between the first two seats in each row. Also no cupholders at any of the seats, just small detachable armrest tray tables. These are just a few features of this theatre worth noting. The atmosphere overall was wonderful, a classic theater with modern touches.
