I was able to score a ticket to ART with James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale (HIGHLY recommend the show!). Now, I don't know if this is typical: but I was offered two seats by the TKTS salesperson -- one was in mezzanine and one was in the orchestra. Maybe I could have asked if there were others? Like, other seats in the section? Maybe they tried to sell me the highest price seat in the section? Regardless, I'm happy I was able to get a ticket same day that was slightly discounted. 2025: 57/100

For three tickets with taxes, it was just over $300. We were told we'd find out which show on the day of (Saturday) at 11 am, but on Friday night, we got an email from the theatre saying they were excited to see us. Our "spin" landed us 3 tickets in the center of row F for Spamalot. The show was absolutely hysterical. Thanks to Broadway Roulette for making this seamless. We had a great time.

You get the option to cross off a few titles you do not want to see or maybe you have seen before. You can pay an additional fee if you would like to cross off more. For me, because I've seen so many shows, I went with that option. I still ended up getting a show I've seen before, but that's okay because it turned out to be an amazing experience seeing it on Broadway. I've always experienced the national tours. Once you have an account though and use it you won't get duplicate shows. So the next time I visit New York it's work a shot. The seats were decent enough but I'm semi skeptical because the price of the ticket almost comes out to what you would pay at the box office anyways so how much are you truly saving? There are different ways to have your experience, and you can upgrade if you prefer orchestra seats. The cool thing is the anticipation of not finding out what show you're going to see until the morning of. Overall I would do it again though.

Skyscape is a really engaging and a well designed experience. Theres a lot to see and do, with interactive spy style missions that kept both me and my son entertained the entire time! My son was completely locked in the whole time and I was right there pretending I definitely understood the instructions on the first try. It's mostly a hands on experience, you're not just walking through exhibits, you're actually participating, solving challenges and learning as you go. Even better, it didn't feel crowded, which made it comfortable to move through at our own pace. We were able to go back and redo some of the exhibits we enjoyed, which made the experience even more fun the second (and third) time around. Overall, a great mix of entertainment and learning, especially for kids but enjoyable for adults too. 10/10. My son loved every second. I loved pretending I knew what was going on.

We participated in the Spygames portion, which was worth doing. Once we got a wristband and setup an account, we got to start the games. They also offer free lockers (you'll want to remove any purses, bags, jackets, etc) as you'll be moving a lot. There's 10 rooms of a variety of games although some are similar or duplicates. You'll be very active jumping, climbing, and running around. The hour went by pretty quick but we were both sweating and exhausted by the end of it, so an hour is really all you need.

It was built by the French distributor Pathé as a showcase for the film industry and opened its doors at 4 West 58th Street on September 13, 1948. Located across the street from the iconic Plaza Hotel, north, and Bergdorf Goodman, south, it is Manhattan's only remaining single-screen cinema, and largest movie theater with 535 seats. The elegant theater, with its distinctive Arte Moderne style became a première cinema venue for the best films from around the world. Over time many hits such as: Zefirelli's 'Romeo and Juliet' 1968 (Italy), 'A Room With a View' 1985 by James Ivory (UK) , et le film 'Belle de Jour' 1967 (France) directed by Luis Buñuel, were introduced to the United States with an introductory theatrical run at our beloved Paris. Currently, the streaming platform, Netflix operates the cinema giving new life to the ultimate landmark of New York's multi-cultural movie theatre attendees. (Click on my Substack for more Baumbach thoughts including my brief interaction with the auteur, as awkward as many of his finest scenes). You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.
