Long line
Mei T.

One of the doctors we dined with gave us a tip of where to buy discounted Broadway musical tickets, so the very next day we made it a priority to come here after a meeting. The inside of the building was packed and the line outside was considerably long as well. It was a bit cold outside, and got worse as a sudden rain storm took us by surprise. The rain didn't keep us away though! We were determined to get our tickets! After 1.5 hours, we were finally at the ticket counter. We got a pair of tickets at almost half the cost for a show later in the evening. I'll be coming back here next time I visit New York! It was worth the wait!

This is the best deal in town. They usually open at 11 am (I would suggest getting here 30 minutes earlier) and you can get tickets for that night or the next day. The tickets can be up to 50% off but there are some extra fees as well. They take most credit cards (though not Discover). And whatever is left goes to the Times Square outlet. We got tickets for Alex Edelman's show (comedian) at the Hudson Theatre. It was fabulous and so worth going here to get this show. Everyone who works for TKTS is super helpful and friendly and will tell you right away if they have tickets for the show. For Alex edelman, they told us there were tickets however by the time we got to the front, we were almost out of luck. I said we would all sit separately so that is what we did- 4 single tickets. So you have to be prepared with a second show as a back up. There's a return fast past line for people who already purchased tickets there within the week - I did see two shows this week but the other one I got thru TDF. Save your tickets and you can also fast pass at Times square as well - huge timesaver! If you need to use the bathroom, you can get the key from the people at the ticket counter. The bathroom is upstairs.

Crazy line. Everyone wants to see a play

One reason you would want to travel away from the Times Square location is because when they are selling matinee tickets you can buy evening tickets before 3pm. Look at the board above the ticket window to see what shows you can buy. Pro Tip: Avoid buying tickets for shows for Monday as they usually don't give that much discount as they are one of the few shows playing and they know it and they know they can sell it for more as people will buy. Have to use the bathroom? When looking at the ticket window, you will find people at a counter, ask them for the bathroom key and it is upstairs.

The word is out -- there are lines now.

Newest of the discount ticket centers for Broadway and Off-Bway shows. Didn't know this when I was there but you can get matinee tickets THE DAY BEFORE. Opens at noon but when we got there at 11:30 there was a decent sized line. Board said there were tix for Evan Hansen and Tootsie but after almost an hour wait they were all gone. Next time we'll get there an hour before they open. Probably same wait but at least we'll be front of line. At least you are inside and the staff is helpful and will give you the skinny on all the shows (if you ask). *Note -- not all the shows are half off -- many are 20-30% off which means you're still paying $100 bucks and up for some shows. Ending up settling for "Betrayal" which was three English people yapping at each other for 90 minutes on an sparse stage -- something you'd find at a regional theater (with better acting). Wasn't that annoyed when someone's phone went off in the middle as at least that was something unpredictable.

Five stars for tickets 40-50% face price. Opposite of stubhub. The tkts is located inside the David Rubenstein Pavilion. There's an open seating area to eat your meals. Although the lines are long, you are covered and in air-conditioned environment. Compared to Times Square or Seaport, this is one the easiest on the body. Only issue is that there's only a few booths and when I went only two were open. There's helpful people in red shirts that can give recommendations. It took about 40 minutes for the inside line which was at the column. Plan accordingly.

This Lincoln Square location is ideal for visitors who don't want to wait in line at 42nd Street. It's indoors away from the naked painted ladies and their shills. We were able to purchase some really great tickets on July 4th weekend--not half price, but discounted for some very popular shows. After getting your tickets you can eat around here and slowly amble down to the theater.

I went to a Taping on August 20, 2026 and it was a dream come true!! I waited on standby and…read morearrived to the NBC Shop around 4:45am and got my ticket around 8am. Bring a hoodie because the building is freezing cold!! Came back around 3:15pm and found out our fate around 3:50pm. They let 66 people in that day!! Went through security around 4pm and waited in the peacock lounge until they 4:30pm when they started taking people to the studio. The show was amazing and it made me feel like I was in the year 2016!! This was the second time I waited on standby and let's just say the last time I went, I tried to give Jimmy a high five and fell... What was different was the musical guest was at the show and Jimmy let the audience ask some questions and I had a lightbulb moment. A couple people later he ends up picking me to ask a question and so I started with that my cat is named after him. And the last time I was at a taping, I tried to give get him a high five and fell. And then I asked if I could get a hug. And he jokingly said no at first, but then he said I'm not gonna leave you hanging without a hug and I started walking out of my row and met him halfway near the desk on the last row and got a hug!! He thanked me for being so supportive and I remember crying!! He asked if my cat was named Jimmy or Fallon and told me to tell Fallon that he says hi. I ended up getting another hug and went back to my seat afterwards. All I remember is someone else asking a question about working with Queen Latifah again and the musical guest performing. I'm just relieved that my sobs weren't caught in the background because I was crying throughout the performance. When the show ended, he went back into the audience giving them high fives and when he was at my row, he leaned over so I could reach without falling and shook my hand!! That made me cry even harder! I remembered crying while waiting for the elevator to go back to the nbc shop and thanking employee when they greeted me us. I'll never forget that day!

This was a fine experience. I'm not really a Fallon fan but the experience of watching a 'live to…read moretape' recording was pretty interested. We didn't have tickets, so we went to the gift shop at 30 rock through the 6th ave entrance to score some stand-by tickets. We arrived what I would call late, at about 11am. If you want to get these stand-by tickets I'd recommend arriving as close to 8am as you can, because every ticket is numbered and they can only fit so many people into the studio (they will always try to fill it). If I recall correctly the tickets said to come back to 30 rock at 3:15 but note - if you arrive a bit later, say 3:30, it won't effect your chances of getting in - the most you can do to increase your chances to see a show that day by walking in is to get there at 8am when they first start giving out the numbered stand-by tickets. Also, while they say you cant bring in bags, I had a smaller sized north face backpack and my friend had a large plastic bag and a small purse. If your number gets you in to see the show that day, you will pass through security like at an airport. Everything is extremely orderly and organized, the only stressful part is 'am I going to get in to see the show or did I just spend an hour and a half of my day for nothing.' My friend and I just got in under the wire, with the guy behind us being the very last person to stand-by for this day's show (there were about 56 stand-by visitors accepted that day). You will have an opportunity to use a bathroom before you sit for the filming, so don't be concerned about that. If you're a fan of TV or of Fallon you might prepare a question or two to ask him, he took a number of questions from the audience. The funniest one was 'are you going to use that entire bit you just did' because Jimmy and Drew Brees spitting pumpkin seeds went on far, far, FAR too long, about 3? minutes, which was about 2:45 longer than it needed to be. Jimmy was quick with the 'no, that's going to be edited down.'
