I had booked this place months ago and it was BentoLiving, but a couple of weeks ago, I got a…read morenotification saying it is now Placemakr Wedgewood-Houston. Not sure if they'll make a new page or transition this one after the name change, but leaving my review here for now, since Google maps still has it listed as BentoLiving, if you are looking to stay there it is now called Placemakr and this review is post-transition :)
***LOCATION***
Very conveniently located. It isn't in the city, but it is only a 30 minute walk. We drove here but wanted to walk to go out and avoid taking Ubers and 30 minutes is do-able. If you do want to Uber, it is also close enough to not cost too much.
They have a vertical parking situation behind the building but it is 28$ a night I beleive. When we arrived there were plenty of parallel parking spots out front that looked safe and no signs saying parking wasn't allowed. We parked right out front and had no issues and it was free! There were other cars parked there with no stickers or passes, so I am assuming it is public parking. Nothing had a time limit or anything, and we didn't get booted so that is good!
***EXPERIENCE***
Great experience, the check-in was smooth! Just note that the entrance is in the back, coming in from the vertical parking. We were a little lost at first. I think someone saw us on the cameras because they came outside to let us in. We arrived late and it was dark so that didn't help.
I love the concept of apartment-style rooms to feel at home and not in a Hotel. I
am a huge fan of unique hotels and not just standard rooms. I like if there is something unique in the style or layout, so that is also why I chose this place!
The balcony was very nice as was the rooftop!
Had 0 noise issues. Others said they heard a train, but I didn't hear anything. There was a slight noise in the bathroom coming from the ceiling but it wasn't bad and if the door was closed it was fine. I think we were also upgraded possibly, because I was expecting a studio with a bed that pulled down from the wall but we had a whole one bedroom suite!! Not sure if it was intentional, but if so that was very nice!
Loved that the kitchen was fully equipped!
The TV was also nice, you could connect directly to your phone to play music.
***STAFF***
Friendly and very helpful! Literally came out to get us! They also let us keep our things there the next day during the day while we were out visiting Nashville!
***FOOD/DRINKS***
They have a little convenience store downstairs and Redbulls in the lobby. It was closed when we were there, but seemed nice! There is also a full kitchen in the rooms with everything you need to cook/clean!!
***PRICE***
It was pretty expensive. All rooms in Nashville are expensive, especially the weekend, but this one was about 300$ when I booked on Booking. The prices looked even higher on the site, so they may be more now with the name change. I also booked a smaller room with a pull down bed and it looks like I got an upgrade.
***BATHROOMS***
Liked the bathroom and love when hotels have more than just a shampoo-body wash combo for everything. They had body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc and it all smelled amazing!
***CONCLUSION***
Would definitely recommend as for when I booked it seemed to be the most affordable place to stay. It is just close enough to the center to walk, but far enough to be slightly less expensive than other hotels. Other hotels in the center looked dated and boring for twice the price!
My only complaint is that it did feel a tad unfresh. I wouldn't say unclean because the sheets were clean and the bathroom but there was no clean smell and the couch looked a little gross due to the material. It was like a scratchy material and you could see some dust on it. Even in the closet there were dust balls. Like nothing so disgusting like roaches or anything but maybe this room hadn't been booked in a while, idk, it just definitely didn't feel fresh. I know it is an apartment-style and I loved that vibe, but it also came with a very lived-in feel of a dorm or something rather than fresh clean smell of a hotel. That would be my only complaint. It was pretty expensive, so I'd love more of a fresh feel, but overall still highly recommend!!
