Scanning the food places we picked this because it seemed to have decent ratings and a lot of reviews. Plus, you get go wrong with good ol' American cuisine. The first kind of hiccup is that they must have recently moved building. Though they moved right next to their existing building, there was no signage and we had to rely on our own eyeballs. Which almost led us into the wrong building. Not a bid deal, realistically, but it threw us for a loop. Getting inside, it was super clean. Long bar, plenty of tables, modern, many tvs for many sports. Plus, the building itself seemed rather large. A chonker of a building, if you ask me. Our hostess brought us into what seemed like the back 40 of the building and seated us next to a garage door that overlooked a cement pad that will one day be a cement pad with things on it. Not even mad. Saw a train. Here's the money shot. Have you ever been happy adjacent? Have you ever been right up to the edge, the precipice, the peak, then turn around and leave? That was kind of the ideal feeling here. The ambiance and service and general-ness of the entire place was spot on. The food itself looked top-tier. But it felt a click away from perfection. Let's look into it. As a hefty man (fat, not the garbage bag brand), I'm a man of appetizers. Also of wings. Therefore, sign me up for 12 bone in wings for an app. Split into three flavors: Carolina BBQ, Buffalo, and regular BBQ. They came out looking and smelling delicious. The sauce flavors hit hard. But I was a little let down with the dryness of the wings. I know sometimes it can be difficult to knock a wing out of the park because those damn things just want to get crispy. But I don't want to fight chewing the meat off the bone. It felt like a battle me and my mush mouth would lose. Now, from what I understood, all sides were a la cart. Color me fine with that, fatty will order anyways. Especially since I saw they offered street corn AND hushpuppies. So naturally, that's what I ordered. The hushpuppies came out and were the round kind. Which I am no stranger to. They had good flavor, good done-ness, but missed the mark on the size. If they were hush people, they would have been premies. A little sad they didn't get to experience their full potential. Now, for this part I will say I was forewarned. My server did mention the street corn came in a bowl and was served cold. I thought I was better than somebody who judged street corn by its temperature. I was wrong. It did come cold. And because of that, it was not tasty. Missed the mark completely. I did get a bonus side, your typical, run of the mill French fry. They came out and looked great. Meadiu

We ordered fried green beans as an appetizer and they were great- lightly breaded and tasty with ranch to dip them in. 4 stars because we didn't get appetizer plates and refills were slow to come. Hey all. Wifey and I are back again…read more This time we are reviewing Stadium Grill in Mattoon, IL. Very clean place. Ample parking, easy in/out on IL 16, right next to I-57. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy with Mac and cheese. Wifey got the Mango Chicken and Shrimp Salad. And, M-I-L is with us today and she got the Club sandwich. We will start with the MIL club. She gives it an A-. It did not get an A because, while the toasted bread was great, it made the ham on the sandwich hot, and she does not prefer that. Still, an A- is very good. The Mac n Cheese side (we all three got them) needed to be done a little more in my estimation. There was a little too much liquid and the cheese was pretty runny. But Wifey and M-I-L both loved it for the exact same reason, so go figure. (We are right and he is wrong, Wifey says.) On to my Po Boy. It was a little under flavored. I like the restaurant, but I won't get this again. Wifey's salad was delicious and I have to admit I was having food envy. It looked so good. It called for marinated chicken and blackened shrimp but she wanted the chicken blackened as well and that was the right call. I am pretty certain I will be getting be this on our next visit. I am about to finish up with dessert. Getting a raspberry cheesecake with an ice cream side car (of course). The sidecar of vanilla was a perfect addition to the dessert. Cheesecake was a thin slice, but it was quite worth it. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with my sandwich, but everything else was quite tasty. As for the history of this place, back in the day it received many unfavorable reviews which kept us from coming for a while. But living in the area we eventually tried it. Well, they either had a Major shakeup, or the prior bad experiences got repaired because we have been coming for years now and have never had a bad experience. So if you see those old reviews, don't let that dissuade you. We believe you will really like the place.

Ambiance: nice sports bar. Plenty of big TVs. Zero complaints. (4/5)…read more Service: great. Very friendly and helpful. Was checked on periodically which was nice. (5/5) Food: had the wings. They were fine. Menu says house made ranch but it was ok. Didn't really taste like homemade / house made. Wings were good size. Got the garlic parm. Tasted like most other places. My complaint is that they tasted a little under cooked. There wasn't any pink but it was border line. Then tried the traditional "hotshots famous " wing sauce. But.. I got them "trashed". Which is double dipped and fried. I really wanted to like these but they just didn't taste like traditional buffalo sauce (franks hot sauce, butter and vinegar). But the biggest issue was the up-charge. The menu says for trashed, it's "$2 extra" but.... I was charge $2/wing! I hope mgmt fixes that. With all that said, I'd like to try again but maybe a burger next time.

We got "The woody burger": it features grilled cheese as the buns for each bun. We also got a frisco melt and the soft pretzels with cheese sauce. Generous liquor/bar selection and many food options. Though we came close to closing, our food was top notch, the chef was amazing. It is cash only but they have an atm inside. Table seating and bar/high stool table sitting. Overall a great atmosphere.
