I was going to take more pictures of the inside, but there were too many white people and I was the only Asian here so I did sound judgment, stay low key and don't get jumped by country folk. This is the American Sports Bar that you can picture in Dawson's Creek...or Smallville..it's country, very country, everyone within the 20 feet radius is blue collar, there's billiards, there's a digital juke box on the wall playing country and I think to myself...do bar fights happen in a place like this. Gawd, the local Illinois accents here...is like sitting in an episode of Boardwalk Empire listening to Al Capone and crew converse. So this is the Effingham they say... Ok the food. Yes, I came here for food. Was originally trying to navigate my way out of the Petro Truck Stop Parking Lot, having my rig parked over there, I was about to walk half a mile out to the other side of the freeway for that Advertised Chinese Buffet...but I couldn't find a walkway, and ran into this Chaser's building by accident. Accidents can be good. I sat down, looked through the menu, and picked up the ribeye steak, some fries, and lemon pepper wings. And I gotta say, it was a solid supper. Steak was cooked right, wings not overwhelmingly seasoned, and food was on par with if say you going to an Outbacks. I don't think I would've ever given this place a chance if I just looked up Yelp, it's 3.5 stars rating, because I most likely would have just glossed over the potential experience. And now that I've experienced this place....I may as well plan my trips next time so I camp in my rig overnight at the Petro in Effingham....that way I can get a few games of pool have a couple of IPAs, get a good dinner and really let loose for the night. Great place with delicious well prepared food. Nice menu but was lacking a salad other than the side salad. Husband had grilled and fried chops dinner and I had a side salad and loaded potato. Pool table and some electronic darts. Wanted to sit at bar but decided on a booth. Took a few for service at first but after it was really relaxed and laid back. Looked like a tourney night for darts was scheduled. We didn't stay long enough. Husband raved about the chops. He especially liked the grilled and it was gone. The fried were my favorite l. Good crust and seasonings. I think they brine them so juicy chop. Green beans went just a little long and miss some resistance. The seasoning didn't come through. Good use of fatback. My lettuce was just wrong. I liked everything else on it but the lettuce had turned. There was some I was able to eat. I would suggest at least one main dinner portion salad. Could be basic and be customizable. The loaded potato was delicious! ate every bite but the skin. I wanted too but too much butter needed. My heart was thankful. Good cheese pull. 10/10 Overall, we will come back because it was a nice dinner. Felt like home bars should. read more

People outside the establishment were friendly and opened the door for you. It was raining and the people were having their cigarettes. Laughing and enjoying themselves. You walk in a take a seat. The place was busy and the waitresses were hustling. People talking, laughing, drinking and eating. We were going to partake in such merriment. Had a few beers and ordered dinners. Wow, what a fun freaking place! Loud music, active clientele, heartily recommended to me by a truck driver who knows places, good food, strong drinks and rollicking good time. I got the... some kinda grilled chicken, w broccoli as one of the sides. The broccoli was so amazing, I ate it, died, went straight to heaven, then got booted back to earth by God Himself. First time to stop in at Chasers because I had some extra time this evening 4/21/22 and wanted a good meal and a beer. Place was busy as I expected. Followed another patron in the door and he sat down in the next booth from me. We both ordered drinks and food about the same time. His came, he ate and left. Another table of 4 nearby ordered got their food and finished. My waitress finally after about an 50 minutes brings me a plate of nachos which looked good but didn't at all resemble a bacon cheeseburger and fries like I ordered. She apologized and picked it up and walked away, and then I sat there another half hr before leaving a $10 for my 2 beers and walked out. If you're not ready to put it all on the line then you're not ready for Chasers. Go across the street to Weenie Hut Jrs, it's more your speed. I had a horrible FIRST experience here, horrible and slow staff, the waitress completely ignored the fact that we were ready to order, we got there around 5:50pm and got our menus and drinks after 10 minutes of waiting, and we got through all 4 drinks we ordered and talked for a good 20-30 minutes before we finally HAD to wave our waitress down to get our food ordered, food was delicious and came out at a decent time, we finished our food, within 15-20 minutes (we didnt order alot) and it took 40-45 minutes before I finally went up to a different waitress to complain and asked for the manager, then waited another 20 minutes watching them all talk crap about how i needed to talk to the manager before i got my check. Then the manager came up saying i will take care of that for you when you're ready, so i TRY to hand her the receipt while i reach for my wallet and as she stares blankly at the receipt i ask "dont you need the receipt" She literally said "I need the money" in a very RUDE and bitchy attitude so I hand her my card, as she says "do you see these people" as she points to only 4 tables seated i said yes but we were the only ones seated other than one other table (in which we knew the people sitting at said table) and she says "she also has 6 tables on the other side that you cant see" then proceeded to ask if ive ever worked in a restaurant before (i have and the service there was NO WHERE NEAR as good as the restaurant i worked at) and she interrupted me as i was trying to politely explain the situation to her and she ripped my card out of my hand and said while walking away saying "its fine you dont have to tip her" and she drops the pen, my card and the receipts on the table and says the top receipt is yours as she walks away. read more
