DBat came up on a google search and was conveniently located so I went to their website to check it out. It was super easy to register, sign up and make reservation. Kudos for great on-line experience! Telling my grandson we were going to a batting cage was a hit and we headed to the batting cage. I was very impressed when walking in. It's been a minute since I was a softball coach and seemed to live in batting cages. Upon entering you'll find a great pro shop with softball and baseball gear. The check-in experience was easy with great staff. You'll have different cages to choose from; ball machine (kiosk driven), live pitch/hitting and pitching mound. Even with a 6 year old the pitching machine was awesome. We only had to wait about 5 minutes to get a cage. I would imagine a longer wait during prime times as there are only 3 cages with pitching machines, but you can reserve on-line. D Bat has a great selection of clinics and lessons that you must check out. A great find for the baseball/softball community along the I-44 corridor.

Let me start by saying it is a little difficult to find. You pull in the parking lot and drive around to the back. After driving around back you can't help but stare at this beautiful grand entrance. Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner who was so overjoyed to see the kids ready to train. Wearing masks it was hard to see everyone's faces but everyone was in shock. The inside is so inviting and so well thought out. Every little detail had been thought through. From the turf having no rubber infill, to the gigantic fans over each playing field, to the benches set up in front of the projector. Each bench has a countries logo that has won the World Cup with the dates on the back. They do have snacks and drinks at the front counter. Soccer games play on the huge projector for parents to hang out and watch. It does appear they plan on hosting camps tournaments and leagues. This place looks amazing and it's something the city has needed. I can't wait to watch this place grow!

Unfortunately, the indoor pool was at capacity--which is completely understandable. What wasn't okay was how the front desk staff spoke to us when we arrived. Instead of simply informing us the pool was full, the woman at the desk said, "Y'all was ready to go swimming, huh?" in a tone that came off sarcastic and dismissive. It felt like we were being mocked for just showing up ready to enjoy the amenities. We didn't cause any trouble--we just wanted to enjoy our day. But that comment and her attitude made us feel extremely unwelcome and embarrassed for no reason. That's not how guests should be treated, especially not when they're following the rules and coming in with good intentions. We ended up going to the outdoor pool instead, but the interaction at the front desk stuck with me. A little professionalism and courtesy would've gone a long way. I hope management seriously considers retraining staff on how to speak to guests respectfully--because this was a major disappointment.
